Amendment to nullify gun legislation in Missouri!
Clod Stomper replied to enfield's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Have no idea. Nor does the state gov. Nor does the fed gov. That's the whole purpose of the law. -
Sign the petition to stop H.R. 5344
Clod Stomper replied to tennessee01tacoma's topic in General Chat
Up to this point, body armor has been largely unregulated. Has there been a widespread problem of bad guys wearing it? Don't think so. I'm sure it happens occasionally. And besides, what's to stop them from getting it anyway? Like they do guns and drugs. So if this stupid law passes, now they will have it and I won't. Just the same as a gun ban. The bad guys and the gov't will have them and I won't (supposedly). Honestly, I can't understand this thinking. -
Apparently it is fading away. It's a shame too. I can shoot much better slung up in prone than I can from a bench. And I can't take a bench with me out into the field. But I can take a sling. In the interest of full disclosure, I learned to shoot from my Dad, my Papaw and my Uncles (and I really was pretty good). But I really learned Rifleman marksmanship via the Appleseed Project. And they teach how to use a sling. And it works. Edit: I do think it's just like many passing fads. Right now the trend seems to be "run and gun", CQB, MOUT, etcetera. Where extended ranges are the exception, not the rule. So even with long guns, the ranges are kept fairly close. Makes me sad. They don't have to be mutually exclusive.

Great Evaluation of Lubes and Rust Preventatives
Clod Stomper replied to chances R's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Thank you! I know some people are scared to death to let WD-40 anywhere near their guns, but as a basic solvent it's just fine. And much cheaper than other stuff. I've even used it to keep my bore from rusting after I shoot corrosive ammo if I don't want to do a real cleaning right away. Haven't had a problem yet. As for the Specialist, I saw a while array of new WD-40 products on the shelf somewhere the other day. Can't remember where at the moment. Edit: Just read the linked article. Whoa. That was a heck of a write-up. And it kind of reinforces my philosophy of using specific products for specific purposes. With some overlap of course. I have lubes, cleaners and rust preventatives. I rarely buy one that claims to be all in one. -
Unusual scenario, what would you do?
Clod Stomper replied to 10-Ring's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
What I would have done differently is to get the tag number from the vehicle and call the popo. Otherwise, taking cover and not firing warning shots were good ideas. I probably wouldn't have been there when they came around to the other side of the river either. If someone shoots at me, I'm calling the cops ASAP. Whether I have an opportunity to shoot back or not. -
When I voted the other day, the building was not posted. It wasn't on gov't land though.

What to look for in a tent?
Clod Stomper replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Don't go too small. If it says 2-person, assume it will comfortably hold one. But just to try out camping, get a "bargain" type. Get your wife a nice thick sleeping pad and a good sleeping bag. Those are more important than the tent, IMO. I spent most of one summer sleeping on a cheap inflatable pool float. Very comfortable, but it eventually started leaking. BTW, I don't consider Coleman to be a high-end brand when it comes to tents and such. Not in the same class as Kelty or North Face anyway. Its been a while since I've slept on the ground though, so some things might have changed. -
Probs with a Charter .38
Clod Stomper replied to wrenchhead97's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Just to clarify... when the cylinder won't turn, do the trigger and/or hammer move rearward? Or is everything locked up? -
Ebola toll rises in 'unprecedented' outbreak (not Aprils fools)

Wait. We're not supposed to be doing that already? Oops. My bad. -
Best Slickum (grease) For Ruger 10/22 Bolt?
Clod Stomper replied to Sidewinder's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I think he was asking which one is the best lube, not which one smells the best and will make you hungry while you're plinking. I could be wrong. -
Agreed. And I do have 10mm experience. I'd love to have a G20 with a long slide and barrel from Lone Wolf, though.

In which case he should be looking for a new job. I am always on the lookout for potential threats, too. That doesn't mean I whip out Ol' Roscoe every time I see a gun on someone I don't know.

That does seem odd. I've seen the aftermath of carnivores that went straight for the viscera and skipped the muscular areas, but the whole upper half of that guy was picked clean. Weird.
-
Hmm. So you can order from Bud's online, have it shipped to Bud's in Seeverville and not pay sales tax. Sounds subversive. I like it.
-
I did that once. It was cheaper. Next time I checked it was more expensive. So YMMV.
-
I would. Thats how any repair shop would fix it. Done it plenty of times and they always hold up fine.
-
Thanks. I didn't want to be the one that said it. :)

Dented sheet metal is one thing. Breaking windows when the driver and/or passengers are in the car is a whole different ball game. Flying glass can cause grievous injury. And after a window is broken, you're one swing away from a head injury. Threatening to break windows when my little boy is in the car is begging to be shot.

Thinking about a 22 magnum rifle.....tell me about yours
Clod Stomper replied to gregintenn's topic in Long Guns
Plus, I don't think I've ever seen a rimfire lever action that loaded through a loading gate in the receiver. That's pretty much a center fire thing. -
Let's hope you're right. This strain seems to be particularly contagious.

Ebola toll rises in 'unprecedented' outbreak (not Aprils fools)
Clod Stomper replied to vontar's topic in General Chat
It makes one wonder, though. Some of the cases making the news are doctors and AIDS workers. If a doctor cannot avoid contracting it, then it must be spreading pretty easily. I can't see a doctor treating an Ebola patient without taking some extraordinary protective measures. -

May I ask why the Creedmore over .260 Remington? -
My life has been threatened what do I do

This. In every situation. -
When somebody asks me if I have any ID, I say "idee 'bout what?" When they ask my name I show them my belt.

Ouch. But that's probably what will happen. Unfortunately.
