  1. FYI, the SIG P938 is on sale at PSA.  http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/p938sas-9mm-6rd-2-72-dt-ns-938-9-sas-ambi.html?utm_source=DEALS%3A+XM855+5.56%2C+Colt+6720+AR-15+%26+More&utm_campaign=Constant+Contact&utm_medium=email   I haven't touched the SIG or the Kahr PM9.  They seem to be similar in size and weight.  But the ad says the SIG overall width is 1.1" and the Kahr website says the PM9's slide is .9".     I assume the overall width of the SIG includes safety and slide catch.  So is the main body width the same, less than, or more than the Kahr?   I ask because I hope to have a new pocket 9mm by next summer and I'm trying to decide which.  I've been carrying a full-size Glock and it's becoming a PITA to wear 2 shirts almost all the time.  I went running on the greenway tonight and felt kinda nekkid completely unarmed.
  2. I agree, Stihl is the stuff.  Of course emissions regs have made the new ones less powerful than the old ones.  According to a friend of mine who uses them more than I do, it may be better to find one a few years old in good condition.     And, also according to him and the guys at ACE Hardware, the Pro models can be torn down and rebuilt, especially in the field, whereas the home models are not made quite as robust and serviceable.  Which makes sense.   I have an 025 I bought around 2002.  Ran like a champ until last year.  I thought the coil (magneto, whatever) had gone bad.  So I replaced it with an off-brand.  It ran for a few minutes then quit again.  I bought a Stihl brand and it still wouldn't start.  Took it to ACE and one of the guys took the carb off and messed with it a little bit.  Fired right up and hasn't quit since.   A friend of mine has an Alaskan mill.  So I'm going to try to find a good used 046 or 066 (or 440-whatever, or 660.  I've lost track of their model numbers now that I don't use them for a living anymore) pretty soon.   I've used a few Husqvarnas and they're good saws, but they're a PITA to tear down and clean.
  3.   I believe you.  I'd like to have seen it, but I believe you.
  4.   LOL.  Yeah, me too.
  5.   That's just it.  They must be going off of NICS data or somesuch.  Or a poll, which would most likely be flawed.  There is no way to factor in private sales.
  6.   Nah.  Just give'em a bit of catnip (laced with Ketamine) and they'll be fine the whole trip.   Edit: That dude was impressive.  Balancing on his front wheels and backing to the trailer.  Wow.  He handled that thing like it was his own body.
  7.   Just a slight correction...
  8. I'd like to have a Beretta made in TN.     But as far as Taurus vs Beretta, I have a Taurus PT-99 (adjustable sight version of the 92) and I used to have a Beretta 92.  I kept the Taurus based solely on the safety/decocker.  The Taurus is frame-mounted and can be carried cocked-and-locked.  I've never actually carried it, but I have used it in IDPA matches.  If I were to carry it, I would have no problem carrying cocked and locked.
  9.   That's unfortunate.  Perhaps they should coordinate.  I'm thinking the onus is on the LEAs for that, though.     When there is NO law enforcement, locals will band together to do whatever they can.     I'm not there.  But is sounds to me like there is nothing being done about the lawlessness.  So the locals form militias.  THEN the local, state and fed agencies say  "Hold on minute!  You can't do that!"  So now the LEAs are focused against the ranchers militias moreso than the illegals.     I really hope I am wrong about that, especially concerning the local and state agencies.  We all know, of course, where the feds stand.   I saw an article recently (can't find it now) where local ranchers were banding together and patrolling their land.  Armed, of course.  I'm guessing it's one of these bands that the Border Patrol fired on.  Just a guess.     I DO know that if I were in their (the landowners) situation, I'd patrol my land too.  Armed, of course.
  10. The only interesting part was his interaction with the camera guy.  Presumably he was from a local station.   For an attention-seeker, this guy has NO presentation.  He's worse than I am.  I'm an introvert and a terrible salesman.  He sounds like a 5th grader.
  11. Maybe. But I think this one would be put right in BO's lap. He has intentionally kept the border wide open. On top of that I don't think he cares. Chaos is the order of the day. Fundamental transformation and all that.
  12. Just saw this flash across the screen on the local news, so I looked it up on Judicial Watch. http://www.judicialwatch.org/bulletins/imminent-terrorist-attack-warning-feds-us-border/ I looked, but didn't see it posted elsewhere. Edit: I probably should have posted this in the Hive. Sorry.
  13. With most presses, dies are a standard size and interchangeable.  The Dillon Square Deal B requires its own proprietary dies if my memory is correct.     The standard is 7/8x14 threads.  That's what most presses are made to accept.
  14.   For the most part, I agree with you.  But the left is working on the instability, and the apathy is well-established.   Could the logistics come from the drug cartels south of the border?
  15. Wait a tic....   This just brought a question to my mind.  You cannot take a NFA weapon out of state without filing more paperwork, right?   So, what if one has an SBR registered lower and adds a 16" upper to it.  Can it now be treated as a non-NFA rifle?  Could one take it wherever without asking permission?   Just curious.  I don't own any NFA-type weapons.... yet.
  16. Yeah, Brownell's still offers an FFL discount.  Mine expired in '09 and I still get the discount.  I guess they haven't purged the system in a while.  But it does make me tend to favor Brownell's when I'm ordering.   Unfortunately, the era of the smoking deals on surplus arms is nearing its end.  You can't order automatic weapons with an 03.  And that's what the world's militaries started going to in the 50's and 60's.     But, yes, if you find something you want and it is over 50 years old or otherwise classified as C&R, you can have it shipped to your door.  Not instead of going through an FFL, but because you hold an FFL.   You cannot "engage in the business".  Which means you can't buy a ton of old stuff and resell it at a profit.  Occasional buying and reselling is not forbidden.   Cost/benefit?  You'll probably save the $30 on your first Mosin Nagant.  So yeah.  Economically it's well worth it.
  17. Maybe copper wool? Or masking tape. Or any sort if tape really. I used heat shrink tubing because I knew it was tough and would most likely not let the steel rod touch the bore. Seemed to work pretty well.
  18.   Eat more garlic.  It's so effective, I've repelled human females this way.
  19. Even the desert isn't this bad. I'll take 110 degrees and 15% RH over 95 and 80+ %. I just step outside and start pouring sweat. BTW, I'm not one of those people that whines about cold weather too. Bring it on!
  20. I wouldn't worry about a polymer frame bending or breaking from riding in a car.   Just don't leave it in a car in the sun.  It will melt.   :stir:
  21.   Yep.  EXCEPT...     The only small correction I can see.   Am I right O.S.?
  22.   Agree.
  23. I tend to agree.  It doesn't bother me if a company tries to jack up prices based on a current panic.  I just won't pay their price if I don't need to.   But I do hold a grudge against some companies that seem like they're intentionally trying to poke a stick in our eye.  Like Troy hiring Dale Monroe or H-S Precision using Lon Horiuchi as a spokesmurderer spokesperson.
  24. Where on earth can you find a 50 lb bag of AL powder? I don't need to make any tannerite, but I'd like to make a little thermite on occasion.
  25. Like you said, depends on a lot of variables. With a low pressure round in a blowback action there might be no damage or just a bulged barrel. With a high pressure round in a locked breech, probably a bulged barrel at best. More likely a split barrel and/or damaged shooter at worst.
