What he said ^^ Edit: Also, measure your bullets. Make sure that they are actually .401". Also again, I have used some bullets meant for .40 Short&Wimpy that I could not use in my 10mm because they were too long/had the wrong shape. Seating them to where the case mouth was behind the ogive made them too long for the magazine and probably too long for the throat.

I've been called an anarchist. I don't self-describe as such, though. In a perfect world, anarcho-capitalism would be a workable system. But in a perfect world, so would communism (small c). Unfortunately, the world we're afflicted with* is divided up into 3 different types of people. 1) Those who want to rule 2) Those who want to BE ruled 3) And those who want to be left the eff alone. The first two types greatly outnumber the third type. I doubt that will ever change. At least in the next few thousand years. So the best we can do is try to limit the damage of the first two types. This involves creating a government limited by the "rule of law" and the "consent of the governed". Believe me, I would prefer a system totally independent of a central entity. But that just isn't realistic. At this point, at least. *I know that a preposition is not a word you should end a phrase with.

So THAT'S why I couldn't find a Kroger in Chackanooga. Well, good for them.

It was a really excellent and informative seminar. Listening to a retired nuclear engineer talk about properties of steel and adding in history and a demonstration was almost like I was back in school. I wish I could have recorded the entire thing, but there wouldn't have been space on my phone. I think they're going to try to do it again, maybe yearly.

I guess I did. I'm mildly retarded, so that's my excuse. :screwy: And no, I'm not innocent by any means. But I do try.

Awesome! And a good moral.

Some people do admit to being bad drivers. Just not in so many words....

Can't make it this month, but I used to participate frequently (years ago). I'd like to start back someday. When time and funds allow. It is good practice. And fun.

The long-awaited Wolf steel-case ammo is finally available. In limited quantities. According to Bill A, it's MOA accurate. Unfortunately, I can't afford to buy any, but I'm still excited that it is finally available. Hopefully the quantities will increase and the price decrease in the near future. With the ongoing saga between Russia and Ukraine (and who-knows-who-else in the future), the future availability may be in question. But I'm trying to be optimistic. http://www.shopalexanderarms.com/Ammunition-6_5_Grendel_Wolf_100g_FMJ_steel_case_ammunition_case.html

Question about AK's and Tec's
Clod Stomper replied to Camaro_nut2001's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
If you still want something like a Tec-9, look for a Kimel AP-9. Similar, but more reliable. I have a friend who has one. It always works. Edit: The trigger is still horrendous, though. -
FYI, the SIG P938 is on sale at PSA. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/p938sas-9mm-6rd-2-72-dt-ns-938-9-sas-ambi.html?utm_source=DEALS%3A+XM855+5.56%2C+Colt+6720+AR-15+%26+More&utm_campaign=Constant+Contact&utm_medium=email I haven't touched the SIG or the Kahr PM9. They seem to be similar in size and weight. But the ad says the SIG overall width is 1.1" and the Kahr website says the PM9's slide is .9". I assume the overall width of the SIG includes safety and slide catch. So is the main body width the same, less than, or more than the Kahr? I ask because I hope to have a new pocket 9mm by next summer and I'm trying to decide which. I've been carrying a full-size Glock and it's becoming a PITA to wear 2 shirts almost all the time. I went running on the greenway tonight and felt kinda nekkid completely unarmed.

Never buy a Stihl Chainsaw
Clod Stomper replied to Jamie Jackson's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I agree, Stihl is the stuff. Of course emissions regs have made the new ones less powerful than the old ones. According to a friend of mine who uses them more than I do, it may be better to find one a few years old in good condition. And, also according to him and the guys at ACE Hardware, the Pro models can be torn down and rebuilt, especially in the field, whereas the home models are not made quite as robust and serviceable. Which makes sense. I have an 025 I bought around 2002. Ran like a champ until last year. I thought the coil (magneto, whatever) had gone bad. So I replaced it with an off-brand. It ran for a few minutes then quit again. I bought a Stihl brand and it still wouldn't start. Took it to ACE and one of the guys took the carb off and messed with it a little bit. Fired right up and hasn't quit since. A friend of mine has an Alaskan mill. So I'm going to try to find a good used 046 or 066 (or 440-whatever, or 660. I've lost track of their model numbers now that I don't use them for a living anymore) pretty soon. I've used a few Husqvarnas and they're good saws, but they're a PITA to tear down and clean. -
How I Dislodged a Stuck Bullet

Where is TN? Very Good Reason To Buy More Guns
Clod Stomper replied to runco's topic in General Chat
That's just it. They must be going off of NICS data or somesuch. Or a poll, which would most likely be flawed. There is no way to factor in private sales. -
Nah. Just give'em a bit of catnip (laced with Ketamine) and they'll be fine the whole trip. Edit: That dude was impressive. Balancing on his front wheels and backing to the trailer. Wow. He handled that thing like it was his own body.

Just a slight correction...

I'd like to have a Beretta made in TN. But as far as Taurus vs Beretta, I have a Taurus PT-99 (adjustable sight version of the 92) and I used to have a Beretta 92. I kept the Taurus based solely on the safety/decocker. The Taurus is frame-mounted and can be carried cocked-and-locked. I've never actually carried it, but I have used it in IDPA matches. If I were to carry it, I would have no problem carrying cocked and locked.

That's unfortunate. Perhaps they should coordinate. I'm thinking the onus is on the LEAs for that, though. When there is NO law enforcement, locals will band together to do whatever they can. I'm not there. But is sounds to me like there is nothing being done about the lawlessness. So the locals form militias. THEN the local, state and fed agencies say "Hold on minute! You can't do that!" So now the LEAs are focused against the ranchers militias moreso than the illegals. I really hope I am wrong about that, especially concerning the local and state agencies. We all know, of course, where the feds stand. I saw an article recently (can't find it now) where local ranchers were banding together and patrolling their land. Armed, of course. I'm guessing it's one of these bands that the Border Patrol fired on. Just a guess. I DO know that if I were in their (the landowners) situation, I'd patrol my land too. Armed, of course.
-
Maybe. But I think this one would be put right in BO's lap. He has intentionally kept the border wide open. On top of that I don't think he cares. Chaos is the order of the day. Fundamental transformation and all that.

Just saw this flash across the screen on the local news, so I looked it up on Judicial Watch. http://www.judicialwatch.org/bulletins/imminent-terrorist-attack-warning-feds-us-border/ I looked, but didn't see it posted elsewhere. Edit: I probably should have posted this in the Hive. Sorry.
