  1. Predator Custom should have them. If not, Knoxville Tactical will probably have some, but they may be a bit more expensive.
  2. I would first suspect a mag catch spring. Second would be the mag catch itself. Seems like those would be the most likely potential issues since it happens with different mags.
  3. Oddly enough, I think the opposite happens as well.  USPS delivering UPS parcels.  Pretty sure I've seen it.
  4. Those in your town have been extraordinarily busy the last few months, hauling all those teachers to jail.  They deserve a break, and a fruit basket.  Maybe a small bottle of Wild Turkey in the bottom of the basket.
  5. Or not...   http://www.easybakegunclub.com/news/5515/You-Dont-Want-to-Miss-the-Worlds-Worst-Tactical-Tr.html
  6. Can't remember the origin, but it's good stuff. I still have a small stash. I think it was the '90s when it was abundant and cheap.
  7. I don't they'll be importable because of emissions regulations. Would be nice though.
  8. Bad idea. People are obnoxious enough when they're sober.
  9. Think of it as a Beretta with a cocked and locked option. And the safety is in the right place for your thumb. I like the Taurus. Mine has never failed me.
  10. I think that's where I first saw them. I'm not a gun snob. But I have witnessed a Hi Point fail spectacularly at an IDPA match. I'm sure it was an early model. I've heard that the later models are reliable. But it still left an impression. Even if they're reliable now, they're still a brick.
  11. No, a 10mm does that. A .45 only throws them backward several feet. End over end.
  12. I saw a similar idea years ago using old tires.
  13. They do. You just gotta pay for it.
  14. I remember reading years ago about a case somewhere in the southwest (AZ or NM). A guy was busted for making a submachine gun from raw materials. He was acquitted because it never left the state. They got him on other charges though. I've tried several times and I cannot find any old articles about it. It could have been as far back as the late '90s. But I do remember it.
  15. Stihl for me. Especially the older ones. I have heard from those that still use them for a living that the newer ones are weaker because of federally mandated emissions crap.
  16. I went Friday afternoon.  Nothing special to report.  Same vendors.  It's been a while since I've been to the Jacobs Building.  It will probably be a long time before I go again.
  17.   Blasphemy!     Ok, well cornbread is pretty much chicken scratch.  Chickens like cracked corn.   BEP, I like their music.     Innards ain't bad.  Very nutrition dense.   Hushpuppies are basically cornbread.  As you've surmised.
  18. I've only had a vehicle burgled once.  It was 1996.  At that time, I had been keeping a cheap Universal .30 carbine behind the rear seat.  I had just removed it days before the loser broke in.  They took a mag that I had left in the console, but the carbine was safe.     Learned a lesson.  I still sometimes leave a firearm in the vehicle, but it's secured beyond a broken window.
  19.   Gecko45?  Is that you?  I was wondering where you ended up.
  20. I just now watched the video.  That goes way beyond carrying chambered.  The victim already had a weapon in his hand and dropped it to try to pull out an unchambered handgun.  He may not have made it anyway, but he would have had a better chance if he'd smashed the murderer's head as soon as he grabbed his shirt.  And then taken out a chambered handgun to engage the accomplice, assuming he knew who he was.   Seems like a training issue.
  21. Does J&T set up at the Chilhowee show?  Or just at the Expo Center?  I haven't been to the Jacob's Bldg in a long time, can't remember.
  22. Like Mike Gideon said above, if you ease the bolt closed on a round, it may not go fully into battery.  That's when to use the forward assist to push the bolt into battery and seat the round.  Much more quiet than letting it slam home.  That sound can carry a long way on a foggy fall morning.       ...D'oh.  Beat again by OS.
  23.   I would ONLY use the forward assist if I knew absolutely what was wrong.  You may be jamming the bullet into the lands, or a case neck into the throat.  Bad news.  I have used it exactly once.  And I knew that I had failed to push the shoulder back far enough on some cases that I was fire-forming.     If you're stepping out of the truck and heading into the woods and you don't want the bolt carrier slamming home loudly is another reason to use the forward assist.  But again, you know what is going on.   And as a matter of fact, they didn't put it on originally.  It was an A1 modification for the jungle of Vietnam because of dirty powder and no cleaning kits.  At least that's the reason I've read.  I wasn't there.
  24. Yes, grips make a tremendous difference in perceived recoil.  I've tried the Redhawk with both the stock rosewood grips and some aftermarket Pachmayr grips.  The rosewood grips made it almost intolerable with full loads.  No problem with the rubber grips.
