They do. You just gotta pay for it.

I remember reading years ago about a case somewhere in the southwest (AZ or NM). A guy was busted for making a submachine gun from raw materials. He was acquitted because it never left the state. They got him on other charges though. I've tried several times and I cannot find any old articles about it. It could have been as far back as the late '90s. But I do remember it.

Stihl for me. Especially the older ones. I have heard from those that still use them for a living that the newer ones are weaker because of federally mandated emissions crap.

Knoxville gun show Thanksgiving weekend

I went Friday afternoon. Nothing special to report. Same vendors. It's been a while since I've been to the Jacobs Building. It will probably be a long time before I go again. -
Blasphemy! Ok, well cornbread is pretty much chicken scratch. Chickens like cracked corn. BEP, I like their music. Innards ain't bad. Very nutrition dense. Hushpuppies are basically cornbread. As you've surmised.

I've only had a vehicle burgled once. It was 1996. At that time, I had been keeping a cheap Universal .30 carbine behind the rear seat. I had just removed it days before the loser broke in. They took a mag that I had left in the console, but the carbine was safe. Learned a lesson. I still sometimes leave a firearm in the vehicle, but it's secured beyond a broken window.

Gecko45? Is that you? I was wondering where you ended up.

Always carry with one in the pipe.

I just now watched the video. That goes way beyond carrying chambered. The victim already had a weapon in his hand and dropped it to try to pull out an unchambered handgun. He may not have made it anyway, but he would have had a better chance if he'd smashed the murderer's head as soon as he grabbed his shirt. And then taken out a chambered handgun to engage the accomplice, assuming he knew who he was. Seems like a training issue. -
Yep.

Knoxville gun show Thanksgiving weekend

Does J&T set up at the Chilhowee show? Or just at the Expo Center? I haven't been to the Jacob's Bldg in a long time, can't remember. -
Like Mike Gideon said above, if you ease the bolt closed on a round, it may not go fully into battery. That's when to use the forward assist to push the bolt into battery and seat the round. Much more quiet than letting it slam home. That sound can carry a long way on a foggy fall morning. ...D'oh. Beat again by OS.
-
I would ONLY use the forward assist if I knew absolutely what was wrong. You may be jamming the bullet into the lands, or a case neck into the throat. Bad news. I have used it exactly once. And I knew that I had failed to push the shoulder back far enough on some cases that I was fire-forming. If you're stepping out of the truck and heading into the woods and you don't want the bolt carrier slamming home loudly is another reason to use the forward assist. But again, you know what is going on. And as a matter of fact, they didn't put it on originally. It was an A1 modification for the jungle of Vietnam because of dirty powder and no cleaning kits. At least that's the reason I've read. I wasn't there.

Yes, grips make a tremendous difference in perceived recoil. I've tried the Redhawk with both the stock rosewood grips and some aftermarket Pachmayr grips. The rosewood grips made it almost intolerable with full loads. No problem with the rubber grips.

M2 Browning at the front door. Mk 19 at the back. Mother-in-law guarding the side door with a BB gun.
-
I KNOW the Redhawk can take a beating. You can feed it loads that would kill a Mod 29. I do not, however, recommend doing that.

Even match bullets can vary from ogive to tip. I'm guessing that your seating depth is consistent. If they shoot fine, I wouldn't worry about it.

Sheesh. I gotta start keeping up. I thought hipsters were still were wearing mini-skirts and monocles.

Throw in the tailgaters, lane-weavers, left-lane bandits, failers-to-yield, and other assorted blind, stupid, and oblivious morons and I'm right there with you.

Yep, sort of two different stories with similar plots and characters is the way I look at it too. Just FYI, I heard a rumor that the original script was almost identical to the comics. Then it was rewritten. Here are some scenes from the original script. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jR4lLJu_-wE Edit: Not funny? Sorry about that. I thought that video was hilarious. I like most of those Bad Lip Reading videos. I have a warped sense of humor.

Thanks for the opinions. Sounds like it's moving down the list. At this point, I'm leaning heavily toward a Kahr CM9.

Alternative to KAK tube

Hmmm... pondering.... pondering... -
I haven't seen anyone mention this one. It's adjustable. Don't know about their buffer tubes, but I've bought an Odin Works barrel. Haven't fired it, but it looks good so far. http://www.primaryarms.com/Odin_Works_Stabilizing_Brace_Pistol_Tube_p/acc-spbt-kit.htm? BTW, when they were in stock the price was much less. Don't remember exactly. But it seemed like a good deal.

Has anyone here used one of these? I'm still researching 9mm pocket/crotch pistols. This one is a Sig for 3 bills. Sounds like a pretty good deal. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/18651/s/sig-sauer-p290rs-9mm-every-day-carry-xtreme/ It also looks more ergonomic than the P938. Haven't handled either, though.

Yah. Apparently OP isn't a tinkerer. To paraphrase an old cliche... "It's a Tinkerer thing. You wouldn't understand." I like building my own stuff. Simple as that. It's not cheaper, it's not easier. But it is funner and more rewarding. Edit: My first 80% lower was finished without the benefit of a jig. Only an unfinished lower and some obscure measurements. It ain't perfect, but it does function. Even took it to an Appleseed. I didn't make Rifleman that time, but it was my own fault, not that of the machine.
