  1. Only problem with that plan is it's already easy enough for a LBK, stripped upper, and buffer tube to transmorgafy into a full on rifle unprovoked. Start keeping multiples of something around and you'll likely end up with multiple rifles before your even sure just what happened.

Believe me, I've suffered from this affliction.  One of the vendors at the show this weekend joked that he had a spare roll pin that had to be built into an AR.

  2. Barring an emergency (or a very lucrative opportunity), the next time I fly commercial will be when they check the ammo in my carry weapon to make sure it's frangible.

That said, about a year after 9/11/01, a friend/coworker went through security with a cheap pocketknife. They found it and he surrendered it.

Later at a layover, he found another that they hadn't spotted. He panicked and dumped it in a trash can. I tried to convince him that we had already gone through security and he was fine, but he was scared.

About a month BEFORE 9/11/01, I flew to Jamaica and back with a 3" knife in my pocket. No one said anything until we were leaving the Atlanta airport when one observant security guy (pre-TSA) inspected the knife and myself as we were LEAVING the secure area.

    Theater. All of it.
  3. Never been to the Lamp Post. But most of my fine dining is done in Knox.

As to the topic, I put my piece inside the leg of my pants if I have to use a public loo. Which I also try to avoid as much as possible.

It may just be me, but I've heard too many stories of firearms being left in the toilet to lay it on the paper dispenser or anything else. It stays on me.
  4. I have to look up your vocabulary quite often , today the definition confused me as much as the word.

Full Definition of NON SEQUITUR. 1 : an inference that does not follow from the premises; specifically : a fallacy resulting from a simple conversion of a universal affirmative proposition or from the transposition of a condition and its consequent.

I had to read that a few times. Wow.

I love reading TGO, hence, the sky is a pretty shade of azure.

  5. Third for hot soapy water. It's the only way to get out the salt. Forget Windex or any other fancy solvent that claims to.

I stick the muzzle in a bucket (a smaller can will work), run a patch down from the breech out the muzzle. Draw it back and it will pull the water up with it. Swab the wet patch around the chamber a few times. Rinse with some clean, really hot, water. Let it dry. Shouldn't take long with really hot water. Finish with a good douse of WD-40. You'll be good until you pull it out next time.

My basement can get pretty damp. I've even gotten mildew on my stocks. But no rust on the metal.
  6. Yes, I wasn't aware that this happened until last week when I went to my local PO. While standing in line, a UPS truck pulled up outside.

My first thought was what the heck is this. Then the UPS drive came inside and left a cart full of smaller packages.

I was rather surprised at it.

Oddly enough, I think the opposite happens as well.  USPS delivering UPS parcels.  Pretty sure I've seen it.

  7. My church is buying all local LEO in my town fruit baskets for Christmas.  It may not be much, but we are thinking about them this Christmas.  First time we have done this.  Many LEO are getting a bad rap based upon recent events, we want them to know we supporting them this season.  I know of other churches in Knoxville and surrounding areas doing the same this year, it appears to be coordinated, but may be just coincidental.  If your local churches or civic groups are not supporting, you might want to consider supporting one or more as well, or drop hints to your church, civic groups, etc.  Or simply tell a LEO thank you!

BTW, thank you LEO for what you do every day!  Merry Christmas!

Those in your town have been extraordinarily busy the last few months, hauling all those teachers to jail.  They deserve a break, and a fruit basket.  Maybe a small bottle of Wild Turkey in the bottom of the basket.

  8. Haven't been to a theater in over 10 years. May have to go check this one out though. Looks pretty good. Do they serve beer in theaters yet? I always thought that they should.

Bad idea. People are obnoxious enough when they're sober.
  9. I find that strange and confusing.

Think of it as a Beretta with a cocked and locked option. And the safety is in the right place for your thumb.

I like the Taurus. Mine has never failed me.
  10. Didnt they use Hi Points as gun props in Buck Rogers?

I think that's where I first saw them.

I'm not a gun snob. But I have witnessed a Hi Point fail spectacularly at an IDPA match. I'm sure it was an early model. I've heard that the later models are reliable. But it still left an impression.

Even if they're reliable now, they're still a brick.
  11. I remember reading years ago about a case somewhere in the southwest (AZ or NM). A guy was busted for making a submachine gun from raw materials. He was acquitted because it never left the state. They got him on other charges though.

I've tried several times and I cannot find any old articles about it. It could have been as far back as the late '90s. But I do remember it.
