  1. Seriously? I thought that was satire. Someone poking fun at whoever Chris Costa is. No?
  2.     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIdKIM2btoA
  3.   You just solved this guy's problem!   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/84353-ak-74-feeding-issues/\   :stir:
  4. I'm not sure what hold he teaches now, but I have in fact practiced holding the pistol at a slight cant (45 degrees or less) when shooting one-handed. It is a bit stronger and helps with recovery. And at close range, accuracy is just as good.
  5. Wy wife and I took his class in '98. He really is something. Didn't know he lost some fingers. He shoot'em off?
  6.   This.  Be sure to use pure lead.
  7. I would just use some Cerrosafe and cast the chamber and throat.  That will tell you what you need to know.  Assuming you recognize the cartridge.     Calipers may get you close on the bore diameter if it has an even number of grooves and if you measure in the grooves.  Still won't tell you what round it shoots.
  8.   Coincidence?  I doubt it.   :squint:
  9. What they said ^^.   I do not have a SBR, but I have a pistol lower and a 10.5" .300 Blk upper.  An adjustable gas block is a great thing to have on the 300.  Otherwise, you'll have to have a port size that will work with the lowest pressure rounds that you'll use (subsonics) and the supersonics will be overgassed.  It will work, but isn't optimal.     I don't have a short 5.56 barrel, but I'm willing to wager that the .300 Blackout report is significantly less than the 5.56.
  10. A bit pricy, but I'd REALLY like a DI 9mm upper.
  11. Picked up some Zip Strip at Ace. Haven't got to use it yet. I need to today. Peejman, thanks for the offer. If I don't get it done soon, I may take you up on that.
  12. Thanks. Acetone it is. Unless Ace has some zip strip. I don't feel like Walmart right now.
  13. I discovered that the FDE coating in a cheap handguard I have is actually paint. When I got some carb cleaner on it, it started peeling off. The good news is that it's anodized Al underneath. The carb cleaner isn't efficient enough to clean the whole thing. What's a good all-around paint remover? I don't know what kind of paint it is. No, I don't have a sandblaster. Wish I did.
  14. Number 1 (no pun intended) is the one I use. Can't forget it that way.
  15.   Believe me, I've suffered from this affliction.  One of the vendors at the show this weekend joked that he had a spare roll pin that had to be built into an AR.
  16. Oddly enough, all my orders have shipped pretty quick.   Now I just jinxed myself.
  17. Barring an emergency (or a very lucrative opportunity), the next time I fly commercial will be when they check the ammo in my carry weapon to make sure it's frangible. That said, about a year after 9/11/01, a friend/coworker went through security with a cheap pocketknife. They found it and he surrendered it. Later at a layover, he found another that they hadn't spotted. He panicked and dumped it in a trash can. I tried to convince him that we had already gone through security and he was fine, but he was scared. About a month BEFORE 9/11/01, I flew to Jamaica and back with a 3" knife in my pocket. No one said anything until we were leaving the Atlanta airport when one observant security guy (pre-TSA) inspected the knife and myself as we were LEAVING the secure area. Theater. All of it.
  18. Never been to the Lamp Post. But most of my fine dining is done in Knox. As to the topic, I put my piece inside the leg of my pants if I have to use a public loo. Which I also try to avoid as much as possible. It may just be me, but I've heard too many stories of firearms being left in the toilet to lay it on the paper dispenser or anything else. It stays on me.
  19. I had to read that a few times. Wow. I love reading TGO, hence, the sky is a pretty shade of azure.
  20. You were at that one? I saw this a few years ago on the youtubez. Hilarious.
  21. Nice. My parents bought me a Rock Chucker when I was 14. I have a progressive now too, but the old RCBS is what I use most.
  22. I've been wanting to buy a bunch of these for a while. Just don't have enough funds. I think they may be compressed metal powder rather than jacketed. Not sure. http://www.blackoutbrass.com/collections/projectiles
  23. I've used C Products 6.5 Grendel mags. Haven't had an issue with the 26 or 10 round mags. Some people reported having trouble with the older 17 round mags, but I think that's been resolved.
  24. Next gun show at the Expo Center in Knox, pick up several from the "blem" box at J&T's. They're 12 apiece. And one of those last little pieces I usually need when finishing an upper. I'm gonna start collecting those pieces when I find a deal so I never get in that predicament.
  25. Third for hot soapy water. It's the only way to get out the salt. Forget Windex or any other fancy solvent that claims to. I stick the muzzle in a bucket (a smaller can will work), run a patch down from the breech out the muzzle. Draw it back and it will pull the water up with it. Swab the wet patch around the chamber a few times. Rinse with some clean, really hot, water. Let it dry. Shouldn't take long with really hot water. Finish with a good douse of WD-40. You'll be good until you pull it out next time. My basement can get pretty damp. I've even gotten mildew on my stocks. But no rust on the metal.
