My brother bought one. Handy little carbine, actually. Short lever throw makes it pretty quick. Savage 99 isn't really traditional either. It was pretty successful for about a century.

I think you just out-Farrakhan'ed Louis Farrakhan. Oops. Almost forgot. Cookies! http://blogs.amctv.com/the-walking-dead/2015/03/bake-your-own-batch-of-carols-cookies-with-this-recipe/

Been on the receiving end of that one a couple times.

Ouch. That probably wasn't cheap.

I batted that idea around in my head for a while. Where did he find a Diesel engine? Out of a Navara?

I've heard the same argument from people about hunting. Something like this "I can't wear earmuffs out in the woods when I'm hunting. " No, maybe not (unless they're electronic), but can wear them in the backyard when you're shooting. "I want to get used to gunfire." There is a clinical term for gettin used to loud noises. It's called "deafness". I did plenty of shooting (and mowing, and sawing and tractor work, etc.) without ear protection when I was younger. Now I have hearing loss to show for it.

I wouldn't compare it to that, no. Since I was born like this, I have no idea what it is like to have 2 eyes. But my brain has compensated, I think. Based on things like movement, relative size, things like that, I can judge distances fairly well. Sometimes I catch myself subconsciously moving my head back and forth to see the relative movement of objects. Sort of triangulating, I guess. It's easy to see what it's like. Just cover one eye and see how the world is different.

I'm just like your son. I'm right-handed but can barely see out of my right eye. I don't know how old your son is, but teach him now to shoot long guns left-handed. It is the easiest solution. He will quickly get used to it. Like Murgatroy said, using some odd device will limit him to whatever rifle that device is on. On top of that, if the sight is off to the side, he will be limited to whatever distance it is sighted in. POI will move right if it's closer and left if it's farther out. Good luck.

M855/SS109 5.56 Ban!!! AKA Green Tip

I'm amazed by this article. He actually gets the facts straight. And laments the fact that this move will hurt dems in the next election. I hope he's right. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dennis-santiago/executive-order-m855_b_6773274.html -
Always carry with one in the pipe.

Au contraire, you don't just have one chambered. You have SIX! (Or maybe 5). -
Well, there ya go.

Don't think any (or very few anyway) of us could own one. It fires more than one round with one trigger pull. So, it's a machine gun. And it's post '86, so it's non-transferable. That's my suspicion anyway.

Not just looks identical, IS identical. I wonder if Dolomite ever tested the Surplus Pistol Powder that David is, or was, selling with the .300 BLK. He may still have some.

Come on now, let's not go too far with our tolerance.

May I interject here? "Windage" and "elevation" are two different things. "Kentucky Windage", as far as I know, refers to holding off the target to the left or right (without adjusting the sights) to adjust for wind. I've never heard the term "Kentucky Elevation", but I imagine if it were a thing, it would be holding over or under to adjust for distance.

Hence the term "Jerry" can. They may have been on the wrong side in that war, but they know how to make stuff.

 Yeah, two or three years ago. That's good. You got a brief respite. I would get it fixed ASAP. Come to think of it, I have an uncle that pulled several of my baby teeth. I'm sure he'd be happy to pull yours for a fair price. No, he isn't a dentist.

Single action revolvers for carry purposes?
Clod Stomper replied to suspiciousmind's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
For years, I carried a Ruger Blackhawk .41 Mag around the farm. Occasionally I'd carry IWB concealed. It's not my first choice for self-defense. But I'd carry it over a .22 or .25. Single actions actually ride IWB pretty well for me. -
Looking forward to more info. I like light barrels if they hold zero.

Between Tellico and Ballplay, but I went to school in town. I think I was a few years ahead of you. I never really left. Circumstances made me sleep in Knox most of the time, but I get back as often as possible. Hopefully be back full time soon.

Tooth pain is the most excruciating pain I've ever experienced. There's no way I'd go all weekend with that. Maybe go to a clinic and get some painkillers to survive on. The only time I've ever taken hard-core pain meds was for tooth pain. Can't help with the dentist. I grew up in Tellico Plains. We always went to Athens or Maryville to the dentist. I have bartered guns for service with the dentist I see now, but I don't know if he'd do the same for anyone. I knew him before he was my dentist. Best luck.

Not to mention the ones whose britches are around their knees. Their arses will freeze off.

That's interesting. I kept hearing what I thought were small limbs falling on the deck about the same time. I need to go investigate.
