Tennessee Statutes (warning complaining involved)
Clod Stomper replied to none's topic in General Chat
I was just about to mention Jamaica. Every one of them seems to have a death wish on the road. -
I have no problem with plowing over a bad guy, or shooting him. But just as one is responsible for a bullet that misses or goes through the target, one is also responsible for running over innocent bystanders. Was the cop sure that there was no little child playing behind that wall? Yes, it was a bit reckless. He should have shot him.

Come on out here to East Tennessee. We've had movies filmed in our creeks. You sure do got a purty mouth, boy. We'll see ya soon.

I wish I could make it to one or both. Maybe next time. And I hope next time is pretty soon. -
Open Carry at Walmart
Clod Stomper replied to Clod Stomper's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I've always concealed, at least halfway, when in public. Never had a problem with anyone who chooses not to though. This kind of situation kind of reinforces my urge to keep it hidden. -
In your pocket? Wow. I don't even have my Hunters Safety Course card anymore. And that was one that I actually used. We must be around the same age. I turned 18 in '91.

Ruh-roh. He shoulda concealed it. http://bearingarms.com/felon-attacks-open-carrier-weapon-washington-walmart/?utm_source=gpfbp&utm_medium=fbpage&utm_campaign=gpupdate

Is this the one y'all are talking about? Its expensive, but seems to lend itself well to the tactical mag flips. So, well worth the price. http://bearingarms.com/definitive-arms-akx-9/?utm_source=gpfbp&utm_medium=fbpage&utm_campaign=gpupdate Looks like a full-size receiver. The one that viscero posted above makes more sense to me.

I started to order two, but they only have one in stock. So forget it.

Tennessee background check law 1990's
Clod Stomper replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I don't have perfect recall of handgun laws in the '90s, but I WAS paying attention. I don't recall having a waiting period or background check beyond the fed requirement from 94 til 98. There was some law in the '80s requiring police chief sign-off on handgun purchases. Most likely only those through an FFL dealer. I only know this (I was well under 21 in the '80's) because a couple years ago I found an old form where a local chief had signed off on a purchase. If it was required for private sales, as Oh Shoot said, it was universally ignored. -
Wish I was closer. I'd love to attend.

A reference to the Revolutionary War. When the forces actually fighting the British were about three percent of the colonist population. http://sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com/2014/06/a-brief-three-percent-catechism.html

Here ya go. http://www.cabelas.com/product/BUG-A-SALT/1848554.uts?productVariantId=3895421&srccode=cii_328768002&cpncode=43-43967597-2&WT.tsrc=CSE&WT.mc_id=BingPLA&WT.z_mc_id1=03921785&rid=20 It probably wasn't bumblebees, though. It is most likely carpenter bees, or "tomjollies" as we used to call them. They don't sting.

THIS! Except Sturm translates as "storm" and gewehr is of course rifle. But Assault Rifle is a reasonable translation. Same function. The US military, if I'm not mistaken, has used the term "assault RIFLE" to describe the M16. A lightweight, select-fire, rifle chambered in an intermediate cartridge. "Assault WEAPON" is a term invented by the left to demonize a type of firearm that looks menacing to them. It was first used in the late '80s I believe. I won't swear to it, though. Just my memory. So, if someone calls something an assault rifle, they may be correct. If they use the term assault weapon, they're full of it.

True, but its on a major highway. There is a lot of traffic by there. Anytime I drive to Atlanta or north GA, I take 411. Its faster from here. I used to stop there frequently on my way down. I've even made special trips when a friend wanted to visit their store. It used to be a destination. But the last few times I stopped, the prices were outrageous. So I stopped going there. Shame too. The long guns are lined up on the walls so they can be picked up easily. They had a nice selection of hand loading supplies. It's a really nice store. Clean bathrooms. I suspect that when the panic buying dies down (if it ever does), their prices will come back down or they'll go out of business.

I carried a 1911 for 14 or 15 years. On rare occasion, I would find that the thumb safety had gotten disengaged. But with a Series 80 type, the pistol will not fire unless the trigger is pulled, even if the hammer falls off the sear. That is in addition to the grip safety and the thumb safety. To each his own. I will confidently carry a Glock or 1911.

They've been around a while. Their prices weren't that bad 11 or 12 years ago. I guess somebody's paying it or they would go under.

Good news in case there are any .327 Fed Mag fans out there!
Clod Stomper replied to a topic in Handguns
I realize that I'm in the minority here, but I think a lot of energy is wasted with short barrels with rounds like this. Same with .357 Mag. Add to that the extra muzzle blast and I prefer a longer barrel, even for carry. I think a 4-inch barrel isn't that hard to conceal. For farm and field carry, I like an even longer barrel for the velocity and sight radius. That's just me though. -
Somehow, I see it quite the opposite. I COULD argue (I won't though) that those who pay $200, submit fingerprints, photo and whatever else to the feds, ask permission of their local police chief and wait several months simply to ask permission to own an item that is Constitutionally protected are the ones voluntarily taking it in the arse. Perhaps the people who are putting what is essentially a stock on their pistols (and NOT the pansies writing a letter to some bureaucracy asking for their blessing, BTW) are basically raising a middle finger to an overgrown federal leviathon and saying "eff yoo". I know which ones I think are most likely to end up in a threesome with the two chicks. BTW, I know it was just a joke and I do not intend to offend anyone who owns a registered NFA weapon. (P.S. Was that first paragraph a great run-on sentence, or what?)

That's a good one too. I have a Lee Enfield conversion. It took me longer than an afternoon unfortunately. -

Mech Tech CCU should handle +P. Maybe even .45 Super. I have one in .460 Rowland. Ask the manufacturer first, of course.
