  1. That's definitely not a yellow jacket. Several times larger. We used to call them "German hornets", but I guess European hornet is more accurate. I haven't seen one in quite a while, but they used to get in the house all the time. And fly around the light. Fortunately I never got stung by one, but heard it hurts like nothing else. For those who want to leave things like this alone, they are not native. They don't belong here. Same with yellow jackets. And I wish that whatever SOB is responsible for bringing the bastages to this continent to be burned alive. If he's dead (most likely) bring him back and kill him again.
  2. Disturbing. Don't forget. Everyone is out to kill you. On the road, the greenways, everywhere. I admit, I've occasionally walked/jogged without my piece if I had no good way to carry and conceal it at the time. (On that same green way, BTW). Not anymore. With the possibility of ISIS sneaking across the border, the thugs and random crazies, and the general sense of chaos that seems to be spreading about, I'll be armed pretty much everywhere from now on.
  3. Stopped by the walmarts on Gunbarrel (heh) road in the 'Nooga today. Overheard a lady asking for some ammo. Lo and behold, they had some CCI. Didn't see which type, or the price. But I bet it was cheaper than Gander or Academy. Hopefully I'll see some Federal 525 round boxes again soon. And at a "normal" price. BTW, I will never (OK, barring an emergency) pay 10¢/rnd for .22 LR. I'll cast every single round I shoot first. Forgot to add... this wasn't early in the morning. It was about 7 pm and I don't think they just got a shipment.
  4. You can still do that? Didn't know.
  5. I never bought that one. Honest people don't steal, lock or not. Along those lines, I carried long before it was "lawful". Lack of formal training didn't stop me. I did have safety training from my family, which most people lack these days. The training, I mean, not the family.
  6. Yeah, that's true. I usually get on the greenway at the Earthfare shopping center or the church in Sequoyah Hills. But if I had to speculate, I'd bet this was a domestic situation.
  7. If it's where I'm thinking, it isn't a bad part of town. One of the better parts actually.
  8. You should get on that Tweeter thing. Probably easier to upload pics to. You could post the link here.
  9. Uh oh. I don't have a link at the moment, but I'm listening to the radio. Doesn't sound good for the cops who arrested Gray.
  10. Wow, busy thread here. Was this Freddy guy gay or something?
  11. A stick to dig in with on your downstream side helps a lot too. A necessity if the water is really rollin'.
  12. They can smell pretty much anything that you've touched. Not saying that they can't smell lithium batteries, but I believe they could smell the camera with or without. I left my GPS laying in the woods (in the Smokies) some years back. When I went back to get it, it had been chewed on by a bear. I won't swear to it, but I don't think I had lithium batteries in it.
  13. I don't have one, but I know someone who has a similar device made by Garmin. If I had to guess, I'd say the Garmin would be more robust. They know how to make outdoor stuff. Just guessing.
  14. Heard on the radio that something was going in there yesterday. I don't know how accurate the reporting was, but they said at one point that officers were going house to house and checking them. Unreal. Somebody has been watching too many movies.
  15. They might be following the fire ants. Saw my first fire ant hill in Knox Co this year. I guess the armadillos wont be far behind.
  16. That's what I'm gonna look for when I build another pistol upper. Mostly because it will be used mainly with a .22 or conversion, but also for some instability with 5.56. Do you know of a source?
  17. We all have brain farts. Sometimes in public.
  18. I have no experience with it, but it looks interesting. I'll be watching. Hope somebody with knowledge weighs in.
  19. You probably shouldn't post that on a public forum. I'm given to understand that meth labs are frowned upon in some circles. I never had a problem with poopy diapers from the beginning. Here's a tip, with the clean diaper, start at the front and wrap around to the back. At least that's the best way with a boy. Never changed a girl.
  20. Leave the fox alone please. They're pretty scarce these days. Probably due to pressure from the relatively recent migration of coyotes to this region. Until recently, I hadn't seen a fox for more than 20 years. If you're feeling the need to take something out, there are plenty of non-native invasive species to practice on. Coyotes, feral pigs, northerners, stink bugs, floridians, yellow jackets, etc.
  21. Don't worry. My little boy is two. When he is 17, I'll send him your way to watch out for her.
  22. Yes. Thank you. On top of that, "why would anyone, who is not qualified to be part of a militia, need a weapon"? Well, let's see. Self-defense perhaps? Should a 90-year-old, wheelchair-bound woman, who is clearly not militia qualified, not be able to defend herself? Of course, there are some who would argue that no one should live to be that old and be a drain on "the system", but that's another topic. I think.
  23. Yeah, right. We believe you. OK, 'fess up. BATFE? Or just a plain ol' creeper?
