Late '80s more likely, but anyway... This kind of sounds like the people who say health care is a right. So if it's a right then it should be FREE! Right? I do have the right to keep and bear arms, but that doesn't mean I have a right to obtain them at someone else's expense. Same with health care I (should) have the right to see any doctor I want, whenever I want without interference from the gubmint. But I have to pay market price for it. I agree to an extent the the gov makes firearms more expensive because of regulation, taxes, etc. But they do that with everything. Yes, the feds have a hard-on about making weapons hard for the common man to acquire, but I can still get a pretty good facsimile of our troops' battle weapon for under $500, which, thanks to inflation, isn't really all that much. Ammo has gone up and down in price for the last few years thanks to panic buying, but its still affordable in bulk. At the moment anyway.

There, Fixed that. The absolute worst place I've ever attempted to eat was at a Waffle House in Columbia, SC. I took a couple bites and had to leave. :puke:

That's about all. I made my wife one and put separate kits in waterproof bags inside the main bag. I labeled them WARM, DRY, FIRE, and WATER. If you don't get more than a couple days walk from home, I wouldn't worry about food. Maybe throw in a couple snacks, but I can go a couple days without food. And I am definitely not stopping to build a fire to heat water to pour in a bag. If I have food, it's something I can eat on the move.

Actually, I do not have an accent. I grew up here. Its the people from elsewhere who have an accent. -
Oh yeah? Well, I can do THIS! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvlOXoauRcg

I ran over one the other day while it was crossing the road. . If I'd known you were looking for one, I'd have picked it up.

Has a small issue yesterday in Cookville!
Clod Stomper replied to bersaguy's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I would have called the cops anyway. I seriously doubt that they would have sent anyone out, but it let's them know that something is happening in that area. When the next person calls, that establishes a pattern. If the second or third person has to pull out a weapon, maybe the innocent person won't go to jail, maybe the thugs will. At least that's how it's supposed to happen. I've learned that there are no guarantees when dealing with the gubmint. A few years back, some jackhole shot through both windows of a pickup that was sitting in the pasture across from my folks' house. They didn't call to report it. "Well, there's no way they can catch who did it." I'm pulling my hair out saying "that's not the point!" They need to know that something happened in the area. -

I have one of those. I bought it probably in the late '80s. OK, my mother bought it. I was too young at the time. Shoots exactly where you aim it. It has the trigger that I really like. A little bit of squish and then the hammer falls. I've never liked a "glass rod" trigger. Wish I had bought an extra mag for it. Too bad they quit making them in '94 (or maybe before, I don't know). My first and only Bersa. I should pull it out and shoot a few rounds. Sorry for the hijack. Glad they were at least smart enough to smell danger and move on. They probably never consciously realized what could have happened. For that matter, I doubt they ever have conscious thoughts at all. -

Yep, I would have reported it. May not do any good, but you never know. WTF is wrong with people these days anyway? Punks like this don't seem to realize that it's nothing more than the law that keeps certain people from just leaving them laying scattered around. -
Where to Shoot Shotguns Outdoors (Nashville Area)
Clod Stomper replied to Hammer285's topic in General Chat
Why can't you just walk out on the back deck? Fire a couple blasts in the air to test function. As a bonus, any bad guys hiding in the weeds will flee. Just kidding, don't do that. If you were in ETN, I could make a couple recommendations. -
I found out how much is too low
Clod Stomper replied to tercel89's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Consistency is the name of the game. If you tap the reservoir, do it for every charge. My Lyman powder measure has a little "knocker" (for lack of a better term). I tap it once when I raise the handle to fill the drum, then I tap it once again when I lower the handle to dump the powder. The second time is to make sure all the powder comes out. -
That's definitely not a yellow jacket. Several times larger. We used to call them "German hornets", but I guess European hornet is more accurate. I haven't seen one in quite a while, but they used to get in the house all the time. And fly around the light. Fortunately I never got stung by one, but heard it hurts like nothing else. For those who want to leave things like this alone, they are not native. They don't belong here. Same with yellow jackets. And I wish that whatever SOB is responsible for bringing the bastages to this continent to be burned alive. If he's dead (most likely) bring him back and kill him again.

Woman Stabbed to Death on Knoxville Greenway
Clod Stomper replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Disturbing. Don't forget. Everyone is out to kill you. On the road, the greenways, everywhere. I admit, I've occasionally walked/jogged without my piece if I had no good way to carry and conceal it at the time. (On that same green way, BTW). Not anymore. With the possibility of ISIS sneaking across the border, the thugs and random crazies, and the general sense of chaos that seems to be spreading about, I'll be armed pretty much everywhere from now on. -
Stopped by the walmarts on Gunbarrel (heh) road in the 'Nooga today. Overheard a lady asking for some ammo. Lo and behold, they had some CCI. Didn't see which type, or the price. But I bet it was cheaper than Gander or Academy. Hopefully I'll see some Federal 525 round boxes again soon. And at a "normal" price. BTW, I will never (OK, barring an emergency) pay 10¢/rnd for .22 LR. I'll cast every single round I shoot first. Forgot to add... this wasn't early in the morning. It was about 7 pm and I don't think they just got a shipment.

Anyone have or seen one of these 5.56 Ruger Ranch rifles lately?
Clod Stomper replied to graycrait's topic in Long Guns
You can still do that? Didn't know. -
I never bought that one. Honest people don't steal, lock or not. Along those lines, I carried long before it was "lawful". Lack of formal training didn't stop me. I did have safety training from my family, which most people lack these days. The training, I mean, not the family.

Woman Stabbed to Death on Knoxville Greenway
Clod Stomper replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Yeah, that's true. I usually get on the greenway at the Earthfare shopping center or the church in Sequoyah Hills. But if I had to speculate, I'd bet this was a domestic situation. -

If it's where I'm thinking, it isn't a bad part of town. One of the better parts actually. -
You should get on that Tweeter thing. Probably easier to upload pics to. You could post the link here.
-
Uh oh. I don't have a link at the moment, but I'm listening to the radio. Doesn't sound good for the cops who arrested Gray.

Wow, busy thread here. Was this Freddy guy gay or something?

A stick to dig in with on your downstream side helps a lot too. A necessity if the water is really rollin'.
