  1. I really think what drives them is justification of their existence. Make up and go after stupid crap to promote self worth to avoid any budget cuts from the programs. Who else can make this crap up?
  2. Is it ironic that we hear folks complaining that they are targeted more than others for crimes. They have not id'd the shooter but I am willing to bet they are 'of color'. With the big bad white sheriff stepping down they seem to think the crime stats of their people will drop. Unless the next guy looks the other way a crime is a crime.
  3. Bersa Thunder Pro compact. That thing loved everything and accurate! I must have put a few thousand rounds down it and the last was as good as the first. I found a Norinco 1911 with a Wilson barrel and other internals at a dealer few years back. $350 and it came home with me and staying. Its nice.
  4. Got tractor out and box bladed the sleet off driveway yesterday (while listening to Jimmy Buffet) knowing it would be a solid sheet if I did not. Hit it again this morning and its a little slick. Outdoor wood heater is doing its job keeping inside at 76 degrees but burning through some wood. Road has 3/4 inch ice but people are still on it. Wife just read where Maury County has closed sections of Hwy 31 and James Campbell.
  5. It may not be snow but 2 inches of icey mix makes for some nice sledding. Kids and I went out after lunch. The house sits on a hill about 200 yds off the road. Of course Dad had to check it out and be the first one down. Wasn't quite the Clark Griswald run but it was fast enough for me to realize the road to the hospital was probably pretty icey if I cracked up on this run. Then I had to walk back up! 3xdown was enough for me. Kids are still at it.
  6. Its going to be interesting the rest of the week. All the little ice pellets will freeze together and with the weeks predicted temps does not look like its going away anytime this week.
  7. Ice coming down in Culleoka. Got the generator ready just in case. Went through ice storm power outages down in Florida of all places many years ago. I really wanted snow.
  8. I'd leave it in there. Nice conversation starter.
  9. Bobby and Juice makes 2. Killing Jax ends any potential future money making adventures. It will be interesting.
  10. Police do not think it was racially motivated???? Wow, way to put your head in the sand!
  11. If its not leaking there is no need to replace it. You already have new elements and therms. Give it a good flushing and check the fill tube. I had one that would not fill properly due to some plastic ball thing Rheem puts in the fill tube sticking at the top. Symptoms were shortage of hot water like you described. I cut the bottom of the tube to get that out of it and reinstalled. Worked fine after that. A broken fill tube  (water not getting to the bottom of the tank) will also give a shortage of hotwater as all you are getting out of it is the incoming cold at the top mixing with hot at the bottom. You may be overlooking something because thats all there is to a water heater.
  12. I picked up a refurbished Echo 18" from HomeDepot. Very impressed with it. Also have a Poulan Pro 50cc with a 20" bar. Good saw once you put a real chain on it. The anti kick back one that comes on it sucks big time.
  13. I am in Culleoka but your welcome to come see it. I pm'ed you my number. Your welcome to bring any wood you want. If you need to get rid of some I can bring the trailer and load up.
  14. Update to this thread. I went with an Earthwood outdoor boiler. Arrived last Saturday and we finished up the install today. I turned off the HVAC heater and just left the fan on to blow across the exchanger. House is already 79 and I had to turn the fan off it was getting to hot inside. The unit itself is nice huge fire door to load full logs. Bring on some cold weather!
  15. I would have at least documented it and have the knee looked at. You never know. What if you really do have significant damage in there. After you get checked out you can decide to let it go or not. The fact that she just drove away shows she had little regard for your well being so I would not feel bad by turning the screws on her. You could be on one of those well directed Bart Durham commercials.
  16. I just found some monopoly money and a few Chuck E Cheese tokens in a junk drawer. I'm in!
  17. I live in Culleoka south of Columbia but was in town yesterday. Passed by the Pappa Johns. Lots of ballons and flowers out front. The news reported the kid said he shot him because he didn't give him more money. This POS should already be cold in the ground. I took a short cut through some neighborhood a while back and passed a house with a piece of plywood out front with 'Thieves go away' spray painted large enough to cover a 4x8 sheet. Must be getting bad in downtown Columbia. Shame!
  18. We got a (British /American ) yellow lab. Excellent dog all the way around exempt he sheds like crazy. Can't count how many vacuum cleaners we killed. I also am found to boxers and German Shepards. As far as training we knew he was going to be a big dog (105lbs) so he had to have proper training. I have been to the weekend training programs at petsmart with past dogs and it never advanced past the sit command. We found Bear Creek Kennels in Columbia. Trish use to be a judge for the dog shows. She has a training program where she takes a few dogs at a time. They actually stay with her for a few months. She takes out to her horse training facility and she works with them. We would go out on the weekends and see the dog and she would train us how to command the dog. When it was over the dog was awesome! Sit, stay, down, heel, etc. He would not jump on people. Plus he was trained around horses. Dog can take off running and I can sit him on command. Hold him at a sit toss the freebie and he will hold until I release him. She also has the weekend only classes in the horse arena. That was 4 years ago and we still have to work with him to keep him sharp but overall it was worth it.
  19. That position is a joke. Unless you have 1 or 2 items there is no way they verify your cart vs the receipt. Most times they put the highlighted mark without even looking, Sounds like someone thought they had a real job of authority and took it a bit too far.
  20. last year we moved into a ranch style with about 4000 sf when we are done remodeling. Firewood is in no short supply on this property. Been thinking of putting it to good use for alternate heating options with either an outside forced air or wood boiler with the heat exchanger in the existing HVAC plenum. Forced air is about 1/2 the cost of a boiler but the boiler has advantages over the less mess of install and where it can be located (Farther from the house). Either one I figure to recoup costs in less than 10 years. Plus it offers a heat source in the event of a power outage with the help from a small gas generator, solar, or wind source. Anyone with experiences using these? any recommendations on which unit to look at or stay away from is appreciated too.
  21. Was at an event for my kids school tonight. We were outside watching the performance and an Old fella sat down next to me with one of those electronic cigarettes. Must admit it was nicer than actually sitting next to a real cigarette. Jim and Nicks is awesome.
  22. For quite anniversary time Fall Creek Falls is nice but it's secluded. If your into shops and more crowds Pigeon Forge. We actually prefer to get off the crowds and stay in Wears Valley. Smokey Mountains rock in the fall. As far as relocating depends on work, desired commuting times, need to be near hospital?, etc.
  23. The press is quoting the statement from the 12 yo. It does not sound like it came from a 12 yo. Perhaps momma told her what to say. Sad story which ever way it goes.
  24. Our rooster starting going after the kids so he had to go. He was fairly young just starting doing his thing so I knew he would be ok to eat. I know that dipping them in scalding water makes them easy to pluck but I wasn't going through all that trouble for one bird. I started to dry pluck by hand and some areas proved more diificult than others. Ended up quarting then skinning legs and breast. Wasn't my best job. I dId not do him justice as I left some meat. I viewed some guy on You Tube skin the entire bird whole. Probably should have started off this way.
  25. I saw a guy in Home Depot OC'ing. Normally would not bother me but this guy (kid) looked like a real douche. He was wearing those gold framed dark sunglasses like Sly wore in the movie Cobra. Had a toothpick in his mouth with his arm around his gf the whole time in HD.
