  1. Good shooting Brooks and Mark. Second and third OA. Only bested by that super fast kid, Blaise. Thanks for all your help setting up and tearing down. Thanks to all that attended. Great bunch of shooters. Everyone in my squad helped out and not a single discouraging word. Hope you all have a great Independence Day.
  2. Yeah, you have to be there! Glad to see you finally found your password.
  3. Green River Gun Club (GRGC) of Bowling Green Kentucky will be hosting a Tactical Rifle Match on Saturday June 28'th.   GRGC is located at 1760 Price Chapel Rd, Bowling Green, KY TWO CLASSES- OPTICS & IRON SIGHTS FIVE STAGES including SHOOT HOUSE Targets 5 to 50 yards, movement on most stages Round count approximately 140 8am setup, 9:30am Start IDPA scoring and "IDPA like" rules. 20 rounds max. in the gun and in the magazine.   Updates will be posted on GRGC website:   http://www.bggrgc.com/index.html
  4. Due to an error on our schedule, Green River Gun Club will be holding an IDPA match this coming Saturday (6/21/2014). GRGC normally shoots IDPA on the 4'th and 5'th Saturday not the 3'rd Saturday, but somebody screwed up the schedule and nobody caught it. So our screw-up is your gain. Come out to Bowling Green KY. and shoot a IDPA BUG (Back Up Gun) match this Saturday.   The "BUG" matches are primarily for two purposes . . . to get experience with our BackUp Guns, and to introduce new shooters or CCW holders to shooting.   In terms of equipment and rules, a BUG match is about as easy as it gets.   You need a .32 caliber or larger Pistol or Revolver.   You only load 5 rounds per stage.  (So you don't need extra magazines or speed loaders.)   You start from "Low Ready".  (So you don't even need a holster, or to practice drawing from one.)   You only need 75 rounds.   (You'll probably need less than 50, but bring a few extra just in case a stage prop malfunctions and you need to reshoot a stage.) The targets are usually MUCH closer than the normal IDPA match.    If you've never shot anything like an IDPA or USPSA type match before . . . this is your best choice for an entry point.   You don't "have" to bring a small BackUp Gun, you "can" bring your .45 1911, or whatever . . . but even with that, you'll still only be loading to 5 rounds.  So you, and everyone else, will be "on par" with each other. Stop by and try it.  Bring your "significant other" and let them experience a match in a more casual, relaxed setting.   Its usually well attended.  With shooters of ALL levels.  Come see what its all about.   Stages have not yet been chosen,  but a round count of 75 should be close. Setup will begin at 8am. Match will start at 9:30am. We will be shooting in squads.  Cost will be $15.   If you have questions contact the Match Director . . . Dan Stuart (270) 320-1191 moosedan1@att.net or check the GRGC website:   http://www.bggrgc.com/index.html   Hope to see you there.

  8. Well, the real men showed up today and shot the Tactical Rifle match. Had a great time. It was a little chilly and a little muddy, but the sun came out and made for a beautiful day. My M1 Garand ran great and was a joy to shoot, even if it was slow. Stage 1 was 56 rounds minimum. That's 7 en bloc clips. Wore me out!   This was the last IDPA/Tactical rifle match for the year at Green River. We will start back-up in March. The 2014 schedule is still in development. It should be on the website soon.   http://www.bggrgc.com/
  9. Green River Gun Club (GRGC) in Bowling Green KY. will be holding a Tactical Rifle Match on Saturday November 23rd 2013. 8am setup, 9:30am Start 1760 Price Chapel Rd Bowling Green, KY TWO CLASSES- OPTICS & IRON SIGHTS FIVE STAGES including SHOOT HOUSE Targets 5 to 75 yards, movement on most stages Round count approximately 130-150 For more information and updates/changes go to: http://www.bggrgc.com/
  10. The scores are done. If you didn't get them via email they are up on the website, under "Match Scores", "IDPA Scores". Thanks to everyone that showed up and made it a success for "Toys for Tots". The (4th?) annual event had 27 shooters, and this year, the $600 proceeds were donated to Toys for Tots. http://www.bggrgc.com/results/IDPA.html The next match and the last match of the year will be a Tactical Rifle match on Saturday November 23'rd.
  11. The Night Match went pretty smooth. I think we had 27 shooters and a bunch shot two guns. It did turn into a late night (why past my bed time), but it was a lot of fun. I shot a XDm in .40 with a Beamshot mounted laser/light combo and I love my laser! There will be a laser on the "house handgun" from now on! Not great in bright sunlight, but in the house or low light/no light conditions, it's hard to beat. Dan is working on the scores, and they will be posted on the GRGC website and/or emailed as soon as they are completed.
  12. Concealment is required for some stages, besides it will be cool enough that you may want a jacket anyway. See you there.
  13. Yep, I told Michael I would. Maybe he'll team us together again.
  14. Sorry Mark. 5 Divisions only, as per the earlier post. The best you can hope for is that the stages will be less than 18 rounds (I know you won't need any make-ups). Details are now up on the front page of the GRGC web site: http://www.bggrgc.com
  15. Night Match for Toys for Tots at Green River Gun Club   Green River Gun Club (GRGC) of Bowling Green Kentucky will be hosting our annual “IDPA Like” (non-approved IDPA match, with IDPA rules) Night Match on October 26’th 2013. For the first time laser sights and carbines will be allowed. Hand held or mounted lights for handguns, carbines must have a mounted light. Handguns must have a holster that will accommodate it. There will be 5 divisions:  Hand guns with weapon mounted light (HGML) Handgun with hand held light (HGHHL) Handgun with laser sight and hand held light (HGLS) Handgun with mounted light and laser (HGLL) Carbine with mounted light (CML) 5 stages, approximately 90 rounds, maximum range 25 yards,  handgun mags limited to 10 rounds, carbines mags limited to 20 rounds. $15.00 per gun. All proceeds will go to the Marine Corps “Toys for Tots” program Come, have fun, shoot and contribute to a good cause. If you have never shot at night or in low light conditions, this is like nothing else. Set-up at 4:00 PM, mandatory shooters meeting at 6:00 PM, shooting at dark. More details to follow on the GRGC website. http://www.bggrgc.com/html/idpa.html
  16. Yes you can! $15 per gun. Sorry, but no tracers (that would be so fun!). I need to fix the red dot on the Garand!
  17. Good Match   Good job on the match John. It would have been even more funner if I had my head in the game, my bad. I should never shoot with Andy! Pulled a hamstring at stage 4 going to low cover. Great, just in time for the state match. If it makes me shoot slower, it maybe a blessing in disguise. Zombies at night? Oh boy! Don't forget the night match at Green River Gun Club on Oct. 26th. Good warm-up for Zombies, and you can use lasers and carbines.
  18. The Green River Gun Club meeting took place Thursday, Oct. 3. The last 2 IDPA matches of the year were on the agenda. Here is the result:   1.) Night Match on Saturday night Oct. 26.            Laser sights and carbines ( any caliber under .50 ) will be allowed for the first time. Handguns must have a holster to accomodate it. $15 per gun.            All proceeds will go to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program!   2.) The last match of the year, November 23'rd , by popular demand, will be a Tactical Rifle Match.
  19. Already done. I think it's going to happen, but it is still under discussion. Get the M14 ready! Allowing carbines for the October night match is on the agenda too.
  20. Another succesful BUG match at GRGC! Great weather, great people and a great turn-out with 42 shooters ( at least 15 new shooters). Thanks to all for your help. Helping So'ing, score keeping, pasting and resetting, setting up and tearing down make these matches possible. Could'nt do it without your participation.   If you haven't recieved the scores via email, they have been uploaded to the GRGC website (under "Match Results/ IDPA").   October 26'th will be our annual Night Match. If you have never shot a match at night, this is a must! We are allowing laser sights for the first time, but as with mounted lights, you must have a holster that will accommodate it.   November 23'rd will be our last match of the year. Some of you have expressed your desire to make it a "Tactical Rifle Match".  I will pass that along to our Match Director (Dan S.). Stay tuned.

For the first time, we will be allowing the use of laser sights (must have a holster that accomadates it). More details coming soon.
  22. So, which rule book were we using? I don't remember Robert saying which rules were in force for the match. It's not October yet, so do I get my choice of rules?
  23. Yipee!! The "old" blind squirrel got a nut Saturday, or should I say a "Hognut"! Even with a procedural for no cover garment on Stage 1. Must have been the new shooting glasses. Watch out Michael, I can now see the front sight!
