Green River Gun Club of Bowling Green KY. will be holding a "OLD RULES" BUG Match on Saturday March 28'th. The match will be run using last years IDPA rules: Must be centerfire, 5 rounds max per string, no reloads on the clock, no draws from holster, barrels of 3.8" or less for pistols and 3" or less for revolvers. "BUG" matches used to be (before the rules changed!) primarily for two purposes . . . to get experience with our BackUp Guns, and to introduce new shooters or CCW holders to shooting. This is a great opportunity to knock the pocket lint off your carry gun, or bring your spouse or sibling or son's and daughters to the range to get some more realistic practice and instruction. In terms of equipment and rules, a BUG match is about as easy as it gets. . . . You need a centerfire Pistol or Revolver. You only load 5 rounds per stage. (So you don't need extra magazines or speed loaders.) You start from "Low Ready". (So you don't even need a holster, or to practice drawing from one.) Bring a rug or a box or a bag to move your gun on and off the stages. You only need 75 rounds. (You'll probably need less than 50, but bring a few extra just in case a stage prop malfunctions and you need to reshoot a stage.) The targets are usually MUCH closer than the normal IDPA match. If you've never shot anything like an IDPA or USPSA type match before . . . this is your best choice for an entry point. You don't "have" to bring a small BackUp Gun, you "can" bring your .45 1911 . . . but even with that, you'll still only be loading to 5 rounds. So you, and everyone else, will be "on par" with each other. Stop by and try it. Its usually well attended. With shooters of ALL levels. Come see what its all about. For more info go to GRGC's website. http://www.bggrgc.com/index.html

Green River Gun Club of Bowling Green Kentucky will be holding their first IDPA Match of the year on Saturday March 21. I haven't seen the stages, but I expect 5 stages with about 100 rounds. 8:00am Setup, 9:30am Start GRGC normally shoots IDPA on the 4'th Saturday of the month, but this one somehow got on the calendar. There will be a IDPA BUG match next Saturday ( 03/28/2015). This year GRGC will be running US Carbine 2 gun matches on the 5'th Saturday of the month.

Classifer match at Gallatin Gun Club 3/14/15
jmecklen replied to rstandley's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
OK, I'm planning on shooting a Kimber Ultra Carry 3" in .45 ACP, which meets the BUG classification and the CCP classification. So will I also be covered for CDP, ESP and SSP ( everything except "Revolver")? Will this fly, or I'm I missing something? Also if you shoot a BUG in a classifier, which now holds 6 rounds, how do you do a tac load in stage 3? Load to 7? -
When the new rule book comes out, will those of us that are already certified, have to take the test again? What is the ETA for the new rule book?

Thanks Robert good match even though we didn't get the weather the weather man promised. If I keep shooting a revolver, I might learn to count to six.

Green River Gun Club (GRGC) of Bowling Green Ky. will be hosting a "Club" IDPA BUG match on Saturday November 29th. This is the last GRGC match of the year. Since it's a "club" BUG match, you don't need a classification and you can shoot any legal IDPA handgun. All other BUG rules will apply. The "BUG" matches are primarily for two purposes . . . to get experience with our BackUp Guns, and to introduce new shooters or CCW holders to shooting. In terms of equipment and rules, a BUG match is about as easy as it gets. For the ordinary Club" level IDPA BUG matches . . . You need a center fire Pistol or Revolver, ammo, a bag, rug or holster to transport your handgun to the stages, and eye and ear protection. You only load 5 rounds per stage. (So you don't need extra magazines or speed loaders, but it won't hurt if you have some.) You start from "Low Ready". (So you don't even need a holster, or to practice drawing from one.) You only need 75 rounds. You don't "have" to bring a small BackUp Gun, you "can" bring your Glock, M&P, XD or 1911 . . . but even with that, you'll still only be loading to 5 rounds. So you, and everyone else, will be "on par" with each other. You will be scored in the appropriate division. Stop by and try it. Its usually well attended. With shooters of ALL levels. Come see what its all about. 8:00am set-up, shooter's meeting at 9:00am, start at about 9:30am. If you have questions contact the Match Director . . . Dan Stuart (270) 320-1191 moosedan1@att.net or look at IDPA, or GRGC's website: http://www.bggrgc.com/index.html http://www.idpa.com/

Thanks to all who attended. Sorry for the late start and the technical difficulties with the Nooks. Hand gun scores are up on Practiscore and on the GRGC website. Rifle scores are on the GRGC website. Special thanks to Greg for getting ALL the stages on the nooks and getting them sync'ed (sunk, sunked , or whatever). Don't forget next Saturday (11/29) is our last match of the year and it is a BUG match (you don't have to shoot a BUG, but BUG rules will apply to all divisions). We are working on next years schedule and looking at running some 2 gun matches (rifle, & handgun) in addition to IDPA if there is enough interest.

Green River Gun Club of Bowling Green Kentucky will host their last two IDPA matches of the year on Saturdays November 22 and November 29 (weather permitting). November 22'nd will be a regular IDPA match. Five stages, approximatley 90 rounds. November 29'th will be a "club" BUG match, so you don't have to shoot a BUG ( A BUG is defined as any ceterfire handgun with a barrel length less than 3" for a revolver and 3.8" for a pistol) you can shoot any centerfire handgun and will be placed into an appropriate division(ESP, CDP, SSP, SSR, ESR, BUG revolver, or BUG pistol) The "BUG" matches are primarily for two purposes . . . to get experience with our BackUp Guns or carry guns, and to introduce new shooters or CCW holders to shooting. In terms of equipment and rules, a BUG match is about as easy as it gets. For the ordinary Club" level IDPA BUG matches . . . You need a centerfire Pistol or Revolver, ammunition, and a bag, holster or gun rug to transport your unloaded firearm to the shooting bays. You only load 5 rounds per stage. (So you don't need extra magazines or speed loaders.) You start from "Low Ready". (So you don't even need a holster, or to practice drawing from one.) You only need about 75 rounds. (You'll probably need less than 50, but bring a few extra just in case a stage prop malfunctions and you need to reshoot a stage.) The targets are usually MUCH closer than the normal IDPA match. jmecklen replied to HOGNUT's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Fun match Robert even if it was a bit frigid. Thanks for setting it up. My only USPSA match this year. New gun ran perfect, I did not! -
That's just a stones throw from my house, but Wednesday is church night. If you make it Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday night, I'm in!

Good match Rick. Stages were not too easy, not too tough. Had a good time in spite of the cold morning.
