Glad you enjoyed it, I did too. Scores should be posted tonight or tomorrow. This is the last 2-gun match of the year. We will probably do it again next year, but with modified rules. Don't forget GRGC will have our regular IDPA match on November 21 and an "old IDPA rules" BUG match on November 28'th. These will be the last matches of the year. We'll start back up in March.

Music City Tactical Shooters IDPA 11-7-15

Can't make this one. Green River Gun Club somehow scheduled a 2-gun match for this Saturday and I'm already committed. Have fun. -
Green River Gun Club (GRGC) of Bowling Green KY will be holding a US Carbine Association (USCA) 2-gun ( pistol and carbine) match on Saturday November 7'th. 2-gun is usually shot on the fifth Saturday, but the November schedule got rearranged. Four stages. Don't have a round but, I'm taking 100 handgun and 150 rifle rounds. Rifles must be shot from a sling, so make sure you bring one. Set-up at 8:00 AM, shooting at about 9:30 AM. For more information check out USCA or GRGC websites: http://www.uscarbineassociation.com/ http://www.bggrgc.com/

Really fun match! I went tru 225 rounds for 4 stages ( just a few make-up shots). I now know how to shoot the Polish plate rack. Thanks John and Terry.

There will be an IDPA match at Green River Gun Club of Bowling Green Kentucky this Saturday (10/25). 6 pistol stages with about 75 rounds. There will be a 2 stage rifle side match after the pistol match. Per the GRGC IDPA match director: Yes there will be a match as long as the weather cooperates halfway. It will be six stages and somewhere around 75 rounds or so. We will shoot 2 stages with rifles after the pistol match is complete. I don't have all the stages laid out yet as I'm running a little behind so I may reuse a couple from earlier this year of the best/worst of Evil Mike (depending upon your perspective). 3 of the stages that we are going to shoot are some that I had designed for the state bug match so we will see how tough they are with full size guns. For more info, go to GRGC's website: http://www.bggrgc.com/

While I don't completely agree with your assessment, I do agree that it was an very long match. I was exhausted by the third stage. The stages could have been shorter, but I think the two main reasons it took so long were: 1.) Nearly everyone shot two guns, so we essentially had 40 shooters in 3 squads. 2.) It was a night shoot, so everything took longer, from staging the shooters, shooting the stage, scoring, and pasting/resetting. I actually like the fact that we had to use some equipment that we would not normally use. Sometimes we might have to improvise and use what's available. I will pass along your concerns to the GRGC match director, and perhaps some of them can be addressed for next years night shoot. Thanks.

Green River Gun Club will be hosting their annual Night Match on Saturday, September 26th, 2015. Come on out to test your skills and tactics shooting in low light conditions with the weapon setup of your choice (well at least for most of the stages anyways as a couple have been adjusted to force you to adapt to when Murphy's Law applies.) Details are as follows: $15 entry fee 4pm setup 6:30pm MANDATORY SHOOTERS MEETING (if you do not attend this meeting you will not be allowed to shoot) Shooting will start at dark. We will be using IDPA-like rules for the shooting and scoring of this match. (Some liberties have been taken on the stage design of Stage 4 with respect to the number of non-threats allowed.) For safety reasons we do require that you have previous experience shooting IDPA matches if you are going to shoot this match. There are 3 divisions for pistols and 1 division for rifles/carbines. You can choose to shoot pistols only, rifles only, or shoot both if you want. The rifle portion of the match will be shot after the pistol shooters in each squad have finished that stage and before moving on to the next stage. Pistol Divisions: Hand-held light Weapon mounted light (you must have a holster that will accommodate the light) Weapon mounted laser/light (you must have a holster that will accommodate the laser/light) Rifle/carbine Division: Weapon mounted light The match will consist of 5 stages for the pistol shooters with a minimum round count of 74 rounds. The match will consist of 3 stages (Stages 3-5) for the rifle/carbine shooters with a minimum round count of 45 rounds. (For safety reasons the rifle/carbine shooters will not use the lantern on stage 4 for illumination and Stage 5 will also be started outside the car from a low ready position.) The stages have been posted on GRGC's website: http://www.bggrgc.com/html/BG_GRGC_2015_Night_Match.html

Thanks Terry. Good match. The standard stage was a little tight. I "grazed" a good guy. I like shooting on the "shady side". Nice and cool. -
Green River Gun Club of Bowling Green Kentucky will hold a US Carbine 2-gun match on Saturday August 29'th. Set-up at 8:00 am and hopefully start shooting around 9:30 am. Probably 4 stages. Don't have a round count yet. Typically 50 handgun and 100 rifle rounds is enough. I'm bringing 100 handgun and 150 rifle rounds (lots of make-up shots). For more info, check to website links below: http://www.uscarbineassociation.com/ http://www.bggrgc.com/

Green River Gun Club of Bowling Green Kentucky will be holding an IDPA Classifier on Saturday August 22. Set-up at 8:00 am, shooting at 9:30 am. 90 rounds minimum. If you need to get classified, here's your chance. On the following Saturday (August 30'th), there will be a US Carbine 2-gun match. We're dropping the October - Southern KY BUG Championship from the schedule this year. Will have a regular match then instead. There were some area match conflicts (not anymore), and it's a lot to put on this years new Match Director. BUG rule changes are still stabilizing, and we'd rather wait a year and "do it right" next year. For more information go to the GRGC website: http://www.bggrgc.com/

Need a Smith to re-barrel my AK-74
jmecklen replied to jmecklen's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
It key holed from day one. At some point in time, my son shot a bunch of corrosive ammo thru it and didn't clean it. I've cleaned and cleaned and soaked the bore and it still looks like shredded wheat. I have heard the rumor that Century built some AK-74's with 5.56 mm barrels. This may have been one, but it's too late now to go back to Century and complain. For what it's worth, this is my third Century Arms rifle. One is a Romainian WASR AK-47 and the other as a CZ VZ2008. I can't complain about either one. They have both been reliable with any ammo I've tried and they both have decent practical accuracy, especially the CZ. Both N Range stores are closer to me than Clarksville. I'll give Troy a call. Thanks for everyone's input. -
I'm looking for a gunsmith that can re-barrel my son's AK-74, preferably in the middle Tennessee area. It's a Century Arms AK and has the corrosive ammo cancer. I'd prefer to pay someone to do it, but if I can't find someone reasonable, I'm willing to buy the tools and do it myself. Any leads?

Gallatin Gun IDPA match & Rifle side match
jmecklen replied to rstandley's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Thanks Robert. Good match, but the heat got to the old guys, so they made me leave before the rifle match. Credit my account for next month. -
Green River Gun Club (GRGC) of Bowling Green Kentucky will be hosting an "IDPA like " BUG match on Saturday June 27'th. "IDPA like", because there will be two options. 1.) The old IDPA BUG rules (5 round strings, no reloads on the clock, no drawing from a holster, no cover garment etc.) 2.) The current IDPA BUG rules ( 3.0" max barrel length revolver in .38 or larger, 3.6" barrel length auto in .380 or larger). Shot like any other division. Don't have or want to shoot a BUG? Bring any legal IDPA gun and you will be scored in that division. Per Mike Seiler IDPA MD: There will be 7 old style Bug stages for Saturday. As I mentioned earlier I need some ‘test dummies’ who bring their cover garment and are prepared to shoot the BUG guns based on the newer rules as well (drawing from concealment and mag changes on the clock). We will run the old style shooters in each squad first and then finish up with the test dummies in each squad on that stage so as not to confuse the newbies. 8:00 AM set-up, 9:30 start.
