If you're talking about field stripping for cleaning, it doesn't get much easier than the CZ82. I think the Maks and CZs actually come apart almost the same way. Pull down on the trigger guard then pull back and up on the slide. Done. Completely disassembling a CZ82 down to the pins/springs? Now, that's fun! I recently took mine apart so I could duracoat it. Now that I've done it once it's no big deal, but that first time was interesting. I like the 82 better, myself. I shot a Bulgarian Mak and a CZ, then bought a CZ. They both seem to be very reliable designs, but the 82 just fit my hand better.

Yeah, 357 out of a 17oz gun is bound to sting a little.
-
Very nice! Bet that thing will be fun to shoot!

It isn't much to look at, but it is my first wheel-gun. Picked up this Ruger LCR (.357) yesterday. Hopefully I'll have a chance to take it to the range this weekend!

Took my HCP course there. Highly recommended!

I think you're right. The first time I shot my 91/30 I was so happy I bought it. Man, what a fun gun to shoot! Still gotta get back to the range to see if my Yugo Tok will run right. Despite the problems so far, I still like shooting it.

Ah, the cosmoline. I wasn't sure if mine was an actual tokarev or just a wax model. Mine was a hand pick from SOG. Cleaned up real nice but hasn't shot more than 7 rounds without a jam. Been troubleshooting the issue in another thread. SOG happily offered to exchange it, but I've made it my mission to get this old thing running again. I think I may have fixed it, actually. Just waiting for a chance to take it out to the range.

I spent a lot of hours in Jr. High playing Wolf 3D. Can't forget the original Doom too.

It does. These things can be taken apart and put back together in a matter of a few minutes. I'm getting quite good at it, unfortunately ..

Rebeldrummer, sent you another PM.

Tokarev Experts enter here.. (Yugo M57 help needed)
jcj replied to jcj's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
No, no missing parts. I'm thinking perhaps the spring is just weak. I'm going to either bend this one slightly or swap in another one and see what happens. There are only so many parts to replace on these old things. -
I'm attempting to troubleshoot my Yugo M57. If you know anything about these things, you know the back of the trigger bar rides against the top of a spring (trigger return spring). For whatever reason, the trigger bar on my M57 slides off the notch where it sits on top of that spring and slides downward, effectively "locking up" the trigger. Dropping and reinserting the mag will typically push the trigger bar back up onto the spring. There really isn't too much too these guns, but this one is driving be crazy. I read that some issues can be caused by the thumb safety, so I removed it completely today for testing purposes. It didn't help. I shot it with one of the grips removed so you can plainly see how the trigger bar is falling out of position. It doesn't do it every shot, but at least once per mag. Shooting WWB Tok ammo and Polish surplus. Ideas, anyone? Picture disclaimer: Yes, there is a live round in the chamber and a couple in the mag. The pistol was laying on the table facing downrange when this picture was taken.

Pocket carry is all about the pockets. I have a pair of jeans from Duluth Trading that have deep pockets. There's a full size 1911 in my pocket here. I don't carry it this way, but even I was surprised that the pockets were deep enough to swallow a 1911.

I live about 10 minutes from Cove Lake. Spend quite a bit of time in that park. It is very limited trail-wise, but has good fishing spots.

Perfect for me. Not so much for my companions. This first outing will be a very "civilized camp." Sounds like Norris is a good first location for everyone. I do plan on checking out Big Ridge and Frozenhead State Park. Never been to either.
-
That's kinda what I was thinking. If I remember right from the Norris web site, there are two camping areas. One "primitive" and one tent/RV site with water. Thanks for the reply, Mike

Hey TGOers, I know many of you spend a lot of time outdoors. I haven't been camping since I was 12. However, I can start a fire and pitch a tent without looking too foolish. Myself and a few co-workers (with varying degrees of outdoor experience) are looking for a camping spot somewhere "near" Knoxville. I live way North of Knoxville in La Follette, so anywhere in between the two is good as well. What I'm looking for is: Tent camping where I can leave the truck very close by (I'm nervous going too "remote" with co-workers in the group). A place to start a fire. Maybe some hiking trails? Optional but desired: A place to shoot within walking or short driving distance. The one spot that comes to mind is Norris. The only time I've been to Norris was to go to the range, but I know camping and hiking is also available. Sad as it may be, I need to purchase some camping gear. I don't think the "GI Joe" tent from when I was a kid would be much use at this point.

If you havent already ordered one, PM me your address and I'll drop one in the mail to you. Those little buggers do tend to fly off when changing the dust cover. Don't ask me how I know.

Anyone else have a kid/grandkid headed to the 4H Clover Bowl regional competition tomorrow at UT Knoxville? My son is on the 4th grade team from Campbell Co. Just curious if any other TGOers might be in attendance. It's a gun free zone of course, but I'll take a day of no carry for the kiddo.

I didnt realize what a responsability it was until...

The "carry anxiety" will go away soon enough. Remember to keep training at every opportunity though. Soon enough your gun will just be something you don't leave home without like your keys or wallet. -
Nice looking pieces! The Mak looks to be in excellent shape.

rebeldrummer, Where you at in East Tennessee? My employer is hiring (Knoxville area). It's office work, but it is a paycheck. Shoot me a PM if you're close enough for it to be a possibility.

Thanks for your efforts, Sky King. I've sent a few emails trying to help this move forward. I spend 8 hours on the road every week commuting to and from work. I'm disarmed the entire time due to company policy. I'm really hoping we can get somewhere on this bill, but it's not looking good..

No questioning who imported the thing, that's for sure. Well, I took it to the ranage today. Made it through two mags before it locked up. Slide closed, hammer cocked, but the trigger wouldn't pull. After some quick Google-fu, it looks like an issue with the thumb safety. Time to take it back apart for a closer look. Thankfully these things are simple and come apart with almost no effort...
