Slack! I approve. I'm old school as well. I run Debian servers. Why? Because that's what I 'started on' many years ago. No other real reason.
On the staying on and burning up computer hardware. It is actually best if you leave it on all the time. You reduce the life of your computer and hardware, by shutting it off and turning it back on. The reason being the contact and soldered points warm up and cool down every time you turn it off and back on. Eventually, over the long term, the soldering points crack and the motherboard or daughterboard fails.
Long ago I had a chat with an engineer at AMD. He told me that "modern CPUs" (at that time would have been the Athlon XP) were designed for continuous operation and--barring external factors--had a life expectancy of ~18 years of *continuous* operation. Obviously voltage spikes and power cycling would shorten this dramatically and its almost never the CPU that fails first in any case. Just thought it was interesting info. Sent via Tapatalk. Preparing for elimination of that 4" blade length limit.

Just to be clear, I wouldn't actually EDC that beast. I'm fully in support of anyone who wants to. It's a heck of a woods knife though! Sent via Tapatalk. Blame the phone for any spelling issues. -
Upper came in, looks great. A few scratches on the ejection port cover, but not a big deal.
My last PSA upper had some QC issues. Like, the gas block wasn't aligned.. Luckily it was an easy fix since the gas block was barely tightened down. Interesting that PSA uses no Loc-tite, doesn't dimple the barrel, and just halfway tightens the set screws...and this was a "premium" upper. I don't fault them too much though. The assembled upper was probably less than what I could have bought the parts for...and the parts look good! Sent via Tapatalk. Blame the phone for any spelling issues.

Troubleshooting a Lee Pro Auto Disk Powder Measure

Yup. Think I'll just find another use for the Clays and stick with a couple of powders that I know to meter correctly in the Lee. -
Troubleshooting a Lee Pro Auto Disk Powder Measure
jcj replied to jcj's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Yeah. It's definitely the powder. I cycled some Unique through it and it was good to go +/- 0.1gn. -
Alright, so I sat down to stuff some 230gn LRN bullets into cases tonight...Then I ran into a problem. I had intended to try a Clays load in this batch, but I can't get the powder to measure AT ALL with the Lee Pro Auto Disk (running via a powder-through expanding die on a single stage). The charges it dropped were wildly inconsistent and it occasionally would barely drop any powder at all. As far as I can tell, it looks like it may be "bridging" at the mouth of the hopper. I generally use the "charge bar" to dial in loads, but I tried swapping around and using one of the disks. No go. It always seemed to drop powder, but it was still inconsistent. I've used a number of powders through the Lee measure and never had a problem. I run a dryer sheet through it to attempt to alleviate any static issues--and there was static. I noticed some powder sticking to the side of the hopper. I'm thinking of trying to run some graphite through it to see if it will meter any better afterward. Other people seem to be able to get Clays to meter alright through this thing, but it's not working for me today. Any ideas out there that I haven't covered yet? I generally have great success with this measure.

Emailed all 8! None are my reps so they probably don't care, but it couldn't hurt. -

Not mine, but our receptionist sent out an email about a lost piece of jewelry. The email ended with "Please the security guard immediately to identify and claim the item." Bet the guard was happy...

Just to follow up on this thread. I wanted to do a battery run down test on the PA dot. It has been "on" set to level 6 brightness since 1/5/14. I'm checking on it periodically to see how long the battery holds up. Sent via Tapatalk. Blame the phone for any spelling issues.

Mags > 10 rounds are against PayPal's terms of service so you probably won't find such a website out there. Now, if you happen to have a Paypal debit card then you can use it anywhere VISA is accepted with no trouble.

Pretty sure it's a standard Duralast (not really a bad thing). The price was the same as a normal Duralast red-top off the shelf at Autozone. I was told 3 year replacement/7 year pro-rated warranty if I bring it back to the shop. The specs also match the regular Duralast exactly. Works for me I guess. Starts better than the failing OEM battery anyway. Next time I buy a battery, I'm going to check these out: http://www.dekabatteries.com/ They're supposedly the only U.S. manufacturer of maintenance free automotive batteries left. Johnson Controls, the maker of Duralast, Optima, DieHard, etc moved their operation from the USA to Mexico a few years ago.

Anyone know anything about Duralast Professional batteries? I had to get a tire fixed today and also needed a new battery for the Jeep. I ended up just picking up a Duralast Professional series battery from the shop. It was reasonably priced and I was there already so I went for the purchase. I've had good luck with Duralast batteries in the past, but I'm unfamiliar with the Professional line. Anyone used one? Sent via Tapatalk. Blame the phone for any spelling issues.
I like Linksys routers, I have had some run 10 years.
Newer ones or the old ones? The older Linksys routers were great. The newer Cisco branded ones... Not so much. At least in my experience. As always, YMMV. Sent via Tapatalk. Blame the phone for any spelling issues.

I've been using a Buffalo router for nearly 2 years. It's been more stable than both the Netgear and Linksys routers that preceded it. Linksys (aka Cisco) consumer class routers are known to be... Problematic. Frequent need to reboot and such. Sent via Tapatalk. Blame the phone for any spelling issues.
