  1. Duluth Trading jeans. Pockets are plenty big and the jeans are excellent. You could fit a full size 1911 in the pocket. They're a little pricey. Definitely not "tactical."
  2. Whether you realize it or not, this is a very sensitive question to some people. Mac owners are a passionate bunch just as some gun owners are passionate about a brand or platform. My .02: Apple hardware is high quality and built well. A lot of thought is given to ergonomics and design. Mac OSX is a great operating system. Easy to use, fast, and stable. That said, I just can't justify the price premium for my purposes. A *lot* of your money goes into paying for that little Apple logo. There are high quality systems out there for far less money than a comparably equipped Mac based system. Windows is not and probably won't ever be quite as stable/intuitive/bulletproof as OSX, but it still offers a decent way to meet your computing needs. Personally, I'm one of those crazy Linux users. Windows *and* OSX users look at us like we're insane. But that's just me. I don't really recommend my way to everyone.
  3. No. The opening mechanism on the SpeedSafe knives is physically part of the blade. Technically perfectly legal under current TN law.
  4. I was at home when the first plane hit. The second plane hit as I was on my way to class at Roane State. When I got to class, we all sat in almost complete silence for the first few minutes. The professor finally announced we weren't going to do any work that day. We all gathered around a TV with students and teachers from other classes and watched the CNN coverage for the rest of the morning.

    ADT Security

dralarms is a wise man. I'll leave it at that.
  6. Fox News just briefly spoke with someone who was there and was legally armed. The guy said he never had a chance to take a shot considering "all the rounds coming from the rifle."
  7. Yup. Ran into several. They actually use small pistol primers. One typical example is brass from Winchester "WinClean" ammo (or something like that). Edit: just checked some of my brass. Looks like most of the SPP 45ACP brass is from ammo that was "lead free". I have some Blazer and Winchester (stamped WinNT) SPP in my box-o-brass.
  8. Yeah..no guns, knives, or tactical gear on this one.. Just some great locking storage containers. When I saw these for sale today I thought I'd pass it along since they're useful for so many things. 18pc Lock & Lock Food to Go BPA-Free 18-Piece Airtight Container Set - http://www.woot.com/sale/21004 I've had a set of these for a couple of years now and they're fantastic. $14.99 including shipping is a good price. I like them because they're microwavable and dishwasher safe. They're also good for small parts storage. For those of you not familiar with woot.com, it's one of those "one deal a day" websites. Legit company, but it does seem to take them a couple of days to ship. I am not in any way affiliated with either woot.com or Lock & Lock. Just saw that these were "today's woot" and thought I'd pass along the info to my fellow TGOers.
  9. This. The HiPoint nightmare is slightly different. In that dream you're not strong enough to physically pick the gun up off the nightstand.
  10. Probably watched this one already, but "The Crazies" is decent.
  11. Willis68, this is a great idea! You talked me into buying a 350 a while back and it has proven to be money well spent. I'm sure everyone will appreciate the chance to evaluate one.
  12. The stealership will always try to provide more services than you actually need. Easy revenue for them. I got a coupon in the mail for 5.00 off an oil change for my truck. When I called to schedule I was quoted 75.00 (80.00 less 5 for the coupon) for a basic oil change. Decided I was better off changing the oil myself. Aside from that, the local Express Lube charges like $40. At 41k I don't imagine those fluids needed flushed and refilled. On the other hand, it also didn't hurt anything.
  13. Might have an addon that isn't working quite right with FF6. I'd try running Firefox with addons disabled to see if that helps pin down the problem. Instructions: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode
  14. I've found a lot to listen to and I can't stand much of the new music that's out today. Plenty of Jimmy Buffett! I have found a few "newer" bands that I somewhat like and hadn't heard of before. Some of the stuff from Black Stone Cherry comes to mind. They're a very Lynyrd Skynyrd inspired group, if you're into that. There's also no shortage of Johnny Cash music. I think there's a decent variety of most genres.
  15. Spotify is a service that will allow you to stream music from Spotify's own massive library of music. It is perfectly legal and 100% legitimate. If you receive an invite you can install and listen to music using the desktop app for free. Streaming to other devices such as iPhone/Android requires a "premium" membership that costs a few bucks a month. You can't open the files on iTunes or elsewhere because the music files are streamed from Spotify's servers. They're not stored on your PC. The desktop app does have the ability to add "local music files" that you already have on your PC and share those between any device you have running Spotify. That's more of an added feature. The primary purpose is the massive amounts of music available for streaming online. Summary: free, legitimate, legal, been in business in Europe for quite a while. Just now getting into the U.S. market. Sign up for the free account and play with the desktop app. The monthly $$ for streaming on my phone isn't worth it to me, but it might be to you. The free account is worth having if you listen to music on the computer frequently.
  16. Congratulations! I have 7 classes left for my Masters degree. Can't wait to be finished!....and spend the next 10-20 years paying off student loans.

    i need a 1911

"Yeah, those Kimbers are nice. I'd love one. If I get this <insert preferred 1911> we can have something in the same style/platform and "save" $$$ dollars. We can use the extra "savings" for <random thing she wants>.
  18. +1. Sounds like a lot, but the average household probably spends the same or more on cable/satellite TV every year.
  19. What version of the Android OS is on these tablets?

    3rd Shift

If you find you have trouble sleeping or don't sleep soundly for the first few weeks, I recommended small doses of melatonin. Cheap, non habit forming, and about as "natural" of a sleep aid as you can find. I take 3mg on occasion. However, I am not a doctor nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
  21. I've been carrying for a year and still do a "shirt tail check" when I get out of the truck. Occasionally my tshirt will ride up on and expose part of my carry setup.
  22. I'm a bit confused by your post. Are you saying you're more comfortable carrying your XD chambered than you would be a 1911 cocked and locked? That's how I interpreted your post and that just seemed strange to me. I've owned/carried an XD and currently carry a 1911. The XD is equipped with a grip safety. The 1911 has a grip safety and thumb safety. Am I missing something or did I misunderstand what you were trying to say? Perhaps you meant that you're just not comfortable enough shooting the 1911 yet. It's late and my brain is running a little slow. To the OP, I carried an XD45 around for a day or two "cocked" with an empty chamber. I became comfortable with the fact that it was quite safe since I'd have to manage to depress the grip safety and pull the trigger before a mishap could possibly occur.
  23. I steal from the tooth fairy... At least that's what I was accused of when my son caught me trying to exchange the tooth under his pillow for some cash.
  24. I took advantage of this deal yesterday. Gearhog Coupon + 1/2 off shipping. Got 500 rounds of 45ACP for .25/rd shipped. I typically reload 45, but I haven't had time and I've lost a bunch of brass. Now I'll have rounds to shoot and some brass to reload.
