  1. Yup, although a few textbook publishers are starting to open up to the Kindle/e-book format. My college recently wanted $180 for one book. Bought it at half.com for $40 instead.
  2. The original Wolf "black box" ammo was manufactured by Tula according to ComBloc Ammo FAQ Apparently the importer (Wolf) is no longer using the Tula or Ulyanovsk plants to manufacture any of their ammunition. It is all made at the Barnaul plant. The ComBloc ammo FAQ also indicates that the Barnaul stuff is generally considered to be the highest quality among the Russian/steel cased ammo available. EDIT: FWIW, I just grabbed a box of 2011 manufacture WPA Military Classic (green "camo box" Wolf) out of my ammo stash and it has the Barnaul headstamp. Unfortunately I don't have any of the black box Wolf to compare.
  3. What he said. I have the "Compact Tactical" version. I had a few issues with proper cycling after a cerakote job, but it has ran 100% for 300 rounds since then. Carrying it now, actually. Highly recommended!
  4. I have one of those too. It hasn't worn through, but it is wearing down and generally looks pretty rough after about a year of daily wear.

    Ruger 10/22

My son has a couple of the Tactical Innovations 25rd magazines for his. No problems from either mag and they're reasonably priced.
  6. Airpush detector should take care of the problem on Android. You've uninstalled all the airpush associated apps already?
  7. Hate to hear this. I drove by there coming home from work just as the police were responding to the scene. At the time I had no idea what was going on. Terrible. I was just in the store within the past week or so having a conversation with Mr. Snellings. A solemn reminder to always be vigilant. Prayers to his family and everyone at South Clinton Pawn.
  8. Congrats! Welcome to the club! ...and I'm sorry. Not only a horrid place to be in general, but very little time to enjoy your new privilege before having to relocate.
  9. A week later I can say "That wasn't too bad." Oral surgeon even reduced the price a bit since the top two weren't as bad as expected. I see that I posted the day of, after I got home. I actually don't remember doing that. I'm now eating mostly normally again. Jaw is still a bit sore, but feeling 100% better than I was. Some other thoughts... Pudding cups are a nice treat if you can't chew. Slim-fast shakes and a Wendy's frosty or two will sustain you nicely for a few days. If anyone in the area needs a good oral surgeon, Dr. Greg Anderson across from Anderson Co high school seems to do excellent work.
  10. They're in with the digital camera accessories in the photo area. A bit pricey as I recall.
  11. Yup. The TWRA range up at the North Cumberland WMA (exit 141) isn't too bad either. No RSOs, but people generally behave.
  12. DMV in Lafollette was nice when I went through the process last year, but I was there so long I half expected my permit to be waiting in the mailbox by the time I got home.
  13. Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm really liking some of the VZ grips. That's probably what I'll go with. That is, as soon as I recover from the $700 dentist bill I just had to pay..ugh.
  14. You'd be better off to sell em here in the TGO Classifieds and take the cash to the gun shop. The premium membership fee is more than worth it.
  15. Thanks again for all the suggestions, folks. Went in at 8:30am. Took back for surgery at 9:30. IV inserted, room started getting a little wobbly, and suddenly it was 10:30 and I was trying to keep my eyes open in recovery. Overall not a bad experience. One tooth required significant bone removal so that side of my face is in the most pain. Currently living on the couch with a bottle of antibiotics, hydrocodone, and ice packs wrapped around my head.
  16. This looks like fun! Maybe I should look into checking it out.. I hate crowds, but I could probably deal with it for the chance to have some fun.
  17. Yup! Can't wait for the start of season 2 tonight.
  18. Thanks for sharing the stories and advice! I'll manage I'm sure. My ex-wife is driving me to and from my appointment (Dr's orders). I'll be sound asleep during the procedure. They have to put me out of my misery because one of the wisdom teeth will require cutting into my gum tissue to fish it out. I can take a lot, but I don't think I could handle that with only local anesthesia. I think I'm more terrified of the bill I'm about to receive. I have insurance, but it only covers 50% of "major" procedures. I'm guessing I'll be on the hook for somewhere between $700-$1000. They're supposed to call me tomorrow and let me know the estimated cost after insurance.
  19. This. I just downloaded/printed the pdfs and received my C&R in about a month. Seems to work fine that way.
  20. Very cool! Wish I had that level of talent. Programming? No problem. Creative stuff, not so much.
  21. Set up to have all four wisdom teeth removed on 10/21. One horizontally impacted and three that should be "fairly easy" to extract. Any words of wisdom? Experiences seem to vary wildly from a one day recovery to a week in agony. I despise having dental work of any kind done. I'm not exactly panic-stricken, but it just makes me a bit anxious.
  22. Much better today. Glock 36 ran 100% after I correctly installed the slide stop. RIA 1911 ran 100% as well. Apparently I just gave up on it too quickly last week. It ran fine with a variety of ammo today. CZ82 problems were ammo related. Ran some decent Mak ammo through it today. No problems. The Yugo M57...still a POS. Sending that one off to the gunsmith again. It has always been a troublemaker.

    New 1911!

Shot it today. Perfect! 250 rounds, 200 230gn FMJ (WWB) and 50 Remington JHP. Assorted mags (2x factory, a Nighthawk, and a Wilson Combat). The lightweight frame seems to transfer slightly more recoil than my all steel GI model, but it is not unpleasant at all. All 250 rounds went bang without fail. Accuracy-wise, it was more accurate than I am. Follow up shots are quick and the factory sights provide an excellent sight picture. The weight just feels so much lighter than an all steel 1911, even though I think it still weighs in at around 31oz. It has enough heft to absorb a decent amount of recoil but is lightweight enough to make all day carry comfortable. I think I'm confident enough at this point to pick up a holster and throw it into my carry rotation.

    New 1911!

Ohh its not my first, lol. I'm a victim of the 1911 sickness. This one makes 3 but is by far the nicest one I have. I'd love a custom (Nighthawk, etc), but I don't have that kind of budget.
