  1. I've been using a 5.11 "leather" belt for about a year now. Two problems: The color started wearing off of it within the first month. Next problem: I've lost 3" off my waist since mid-December and it will no longer tighten up enough to hold up my pants and gun. So, I need a new belt. It needs to be black and preferably leather (I do occasionally wear a polo shirt and tuck those in). It also needs to be affordable (no more than $40-$50 MAX). Recommendations? I'd buy another 5.11 in a smaller size, but I was a bit disappointed in the overall quality.
  2. I've had and sold both. Dish Network is a better value. Customer service is probably similar between the two. Dish used to lag behind technology-wise, but I think they're on par with each other these days.
  3. When I carry mine, I use an IWB holster made by gregintenn.
  4. Just saw those. Not bad as far as I can tell.
  5. You don't have to go expensive. I have a basic Yaesu 2m rig in my truck. I think I have < $200 in the whole setup.
  6. N4JCJ here. JohnnyFox - Let me know when you get on the air. You're close enough that we can chat on one of the local 2m repeaters.
  7. Is "too much" a valid answer? $649. Looks like they're going from between $610 - $629 online, but I figured I was paying a little extra to support a local shop. Not too bad I guess, but still quite a lot for a polymer pistol.
  8. I saw this today and it just begged to come home with me--The Springfield XDm 3.8 in 45ACP. Hoping to get it to the range this weekend!
  9. Welcome to TGO. It is hard to go wrong with a Springfield! I have two Springfield 1911s and both are great weapons. Which one did you get?
  10. Brian has written some fairly well balanced articles in the past. This one was quite a disappointment.
  11. I believe I paid about the same price for a similar sized job last year. Seems fair to me.

    What do you do?

Business Performance Analyst. I write SQL queries and create a lot of useless spreadsheets. It is mindless and stressful at times, but I'm thankful for the job. I do hope to graduate to doing real IT work some day.

    Ruger SR22

I like it. Might look into getting one of those.
  14. Just wanted to update this thread again. I'm feeling good and finally get to go back to work on Wednesday. As for the diabetes, I modified my eating habits (drastically) and I'm running in the 80's every time I check. Limiting carbs and junk seems to be paying off. Thank you all for your support. Hopefully I can get my health in line and stay medication free for a few more years.
  15. Most importantly, I got to be with my family today. Much better than being stuck in the hospital. I got an EOTech 517 for my AR, some cash, and some pants. My son did well too. He ended up with an assortment of new PS3 games, a Kindle Fire, tons of clothes, and a few other misc gadgets and toys.
  16. Lafollette is by no means my first choice. UT has impressed me what times I've visited someone there. As for me, I'm going home!! The surgery I had today went well so they're sending me home with antibiotics and some bandaging.
  17. Event blount memorial would be an improvement. I'm at the Tennova hospital in Lafollette. Going under today for a minor procedure on my sinuses. Hoping that means going home is not far away...
  18. I concur. I intend to find a new primary care physician after this. Been going to this guy for my entire adult life. Never needed anything more than the occasional checkup and maybe an antibiotic once or twice. Now that I've had to deal with something more involved I'm not so thrilled with his bedside manner. oh...still in the hospital.. Apparently theres an abscess in my sinuses. More antibiotics and perhaps some minor surgical intervention.
  19. Hey now! Lol. Thank you all again for the well-wishes and humor. It is helping me pass what would otherwise be very lonely time.
