P238 - My wife deliberated for over an hour at the gun counter between that vs a G27.  Size, weight, and slide sold her.  End result - SHE PICKED it out (first time for that); she shoots it better than anything she's ever shot (that includes many varieties); and she absolutely loves it...so do I for that matter!

Taurus 709Slim.  They dont call it slim for nothing.  Single action trigger makes a huge difference.  VERY easy to carry in the right holster.  Double stack mags are hard for me to carry all day.

ultradon beat me to it. SureFires are the best...Streamlights works great for me. I have the TLR3 on my G23, TLR1S on my AR, and the Polytac on my Mossberg 500. Many rounds and always function great.

Just ask your agent about an umbrella policy and see what their policy states. And then never tell anyone that you have the policy...

Oh yea - with either the Comp-Tac MTAC or the uncle mike's for those days with elastic waistbands, etc.

While everyone has their "preference" regarding which caliber, gun, mag size, etc, to me after years of carrying I too gave in to compromise by finding the right gun that i wanted to carry basically all day all the time. I aslo have a keltec for those other moments when the attire warrants a pocket gun. It is not supposed to be comfortable, but comforting. The trick is simply finding the right combination of gun, holster, belt, and waist size to accomplish such. Many of us have come to the point of different set-ups for differernt seasons/attire so we always have a suitable option for whatever task. My daily carry is the PT709Slim while all HD guns carry a streamlight.

Wow! This whole post just made my day. It is sometimes a long and gradual process for the womens interest level to jump up, but when it does it sure makes us husbands happy. Long story short, I finally read (and realized) that my wife's next gun purchase needed to be HER DECISION on what to get. She finally says one day that she thinks she wants a differnt carry gun (she has the Keltec 32 -- perfect for its intended purpose but not FUN to shoot & takes practice to get accurate with...) so I take het to the range to meet a friend and to shoot her G26. Loved it. Then she spent over an hour at the academy country debating between the G26 or the Sig P238. Finally decided on the P238 - and man is she HAPPY. She loves it, shoots it better than anything she's ever shot, can rapid fire with accuracy like never before, and I am now craving one myself. It might be the single most favorite handgun I have come across from an "overall" perspective (sights, trigger, feel, accuracy, weight, realiabe, etc). That thing rocks! Bottom line -- she previosuly shot prob 6-8 times/year and could not get used to any double action trigger she tried. She rocks with the single action and I make her practice with it (unloaded) a lot in order to ensure muscle memory with the function, safety, etc. I'd love to see a womens gun club of some sort start up and have already talked to the guys at Nashville Armory about considering such for educational seminars, shooting events, etc. YOU GO GIRLS!!!

Does anyone have a link to a podcast or anything of John's talk with Ralph? I was trying listen but was driving and got out of range before they came on.

Oh, and if too much time is going by and the PTSD isnt gone, look up "EMDR and PTSD". It's some really cool stuff! A friend did it and an hour later, she as cured of the PTSD and calmer than she'd been in a year!

I too have been ther, but with a more tragic outcome. Will H had a great point. Engaging the logical brain can help to disengage the emotions for a bit. You need to spend time convincing yourself that you reacted exactly as you should have, and as you hoped you would. All the questions (and what if's) flying thru your brain is what drives ya nuts. Answer then over & over (even the what if's) & know that you followed your plan. In addition to this side affect, you may be like me and deal with mild - to - severe Post Traumatic Stress. Everyone is different, and while I can't relate to combat related scenarios (And I pray for all that do), I got a tiny glimpse of what it is. Among other things, whatever your normal senses do, they get exaggerated to the 10th-100th degree (seeing things, hearing things, agitation, etc). Let's just say that the 3 months following my incident wasn't a good time to tap my on the back & surprise me! Hang in there - Be Confident! Use it to make you better thanyou were. God bless ya & glad you both avoided harm or major clean up.

Pfries - If budget is an issue at all, you may benefit from looking at the Taurus 709 slim. This entire thread mostly compared higher dollar guns (trust me I love the P238), but I absolutely love my 709. daily carry C&L all day long. Very reliable. Great trigger. Carries very well. Just sayin'.....

Wife recently got a Beretta Neos. It is a blast to shoot... hard to put it down.

Without getting in to a debate, my EDC is a Taurus 709 slim. I love it for its intended purpose. NEVER had an issue! Fabulous trigger pull (single action). Next choice (now that I have carried/shot long enough to truly appreciate a good trigger pull) would be the Sig P238. 709 feels better in my hand & much cheaper. Just my opinion...

I fought being a Glock fan for many years until I shot several mags through a friends G3 ported G34 and was unbelievably accurate speed shooting. I finally took the plunge & got the G4 G23. The first time I went to the range was actually an IDPA match. I was totally surprised at how accurate I was with a brand new gun. It shot great, felt great, and so accurate I didnt even know how good I was. i am convinced that my other guns (no matter how much i like them & how well they function) are simply not as accurate. Couldnt begin to tell ya if its the grip angle, the gun or both. Following that session, I researched and installed the LoneWolf connector & spring - Holy Cow do I love shooting this gun now! It is phenominal. To go one step further, my wife has never been what I would call accurate with her carry gun or any of my larger models. And - the first time she shot the G23 - yep she was tearing up the target like she'd NEVER done before, so it has to be more than my imagination. Now she loves shooting it.
