  1. hmmm.. autobot double post...
  2. update: Sprained Hip, also injured knee.   http://www.wkrn.com/story/23580908/jake-locker-injury-update   He did go down hard and awkward on that knee - impacting the inside of his right knee.
  3. Agreed.  Great job on the work.  Others may be different, but I tend to think Blueing or stainless is perfect for 1911's.  That is a pretty bold statement in color on a 1911.  and... we don't see that too often... and the shock might have gotten to us.    :pleased:   Don't mistake the silence for a lack of love for you.   How durable is it?
  4. Dear Senator________, et al,   Thank you.         For each and every time your efforts to represent your constituents have left you worn, exhausted, and bruised.  Thank you.   I consider myself a socially progressive, legislatively libertarian, and fiscally conservative tax payer.  Thus, I have grieved watching the Republican party loose direction, unity, influence, and elections, yet I have hope for the future.   In the current debacle, it seems that your colleagues on the other side of the isle have flat out refused their obligation as public servants and rejected your offers of a conference.  This is one step too many by a party which backs an administration and senate majority which is already due accountability for overseeing a continued faltering United States of America  - synchronous with an increasing dependance of the population on the government - evidencing a willingness to leverage that subservient dependance into influence and votes.  No matter the party that cultivates them, these scenarios are not the bedfellows of democracy.   Most of us see this current malfeasance as a result of continued irresponsible behavior of the legislative branch as a whole.  From my perspective, I realize that this may be exacerbated by an administration that functions as many have in the past.  Still, most of our citizens are somewhat business savvy, and they understand the basic principle of a budget and the basic tenet of sound business management.  We are loosing each battle, and indeed, the war - because we are not making a cohesive emotional connection with the collective citizens of the United States of America.  As rational as I am, I have lived enough to know that even stoic, stalwart titans are motivated by feelings - with a side dish of logic.   Remembering, yet leaving the past, please represent us in a calm, reasonable, fact-based manor; still, please be vocal, be present, and make our presence known.   Please help the party hire better speechwriters, spend more money on equipping our candidates for the current political climate, and help the party find something (anything is a start!) in common with everyone in America.   Please help our government recover.  I have two kids, a boy and a girl - both 5 years old.  They have dreams, and I have hopes for them to live in a free, prosperous America -- to live life, steward liberty, and pursue happiness.  They don't need anything handed to them.  Our mothers and fathers worked for what they had, and so should we - rising with or falling on our willingness to earn the desires of our heart.   Peace to you and yours, ****** Nashville, TN
  5. Outrage has been and is often farmed, harvested, and indeed sold to fund influence and power.  Unfortunately, we, collectively, have not been stockholders in our own "for profit" venture in the production and sale of such commodities.
  6.      I could be missing something, but I don't think the hit caused the injury directly.  It looked to me like he impacted the ground hard on that right knee (while doubled over - so hip was at an angle - not it's strongest alignment) ... so hard he bounced.  It was after that moment that he grasped at the hip in pain.  If you watch that bounce, it looks to me like it could do some damage.   Now... the hit appeared to be late to me... maybe that's just me.
  7. Mob-mentality is not a "higher-conscious" state.   :shake:   Vehicle upgrades begs the question.  If one was going to buy a brand new range rover,... would you opt for a lesser vehicle and have it lightly up-armored?  like a VIP car...        I would be lying if I told you I didn't want my wife and kids in a car with at least level III protection.   -ala http://texasarmoring.com/armoring_levels.html  - their level T6 I guess.   I'm guessing you are looking at $30-40K in armor.  Anybody know anymore than that?   Price of a new Range Rover ~ $80k+  - so that gets you a $50k vehicle armored.
  8. I'll wait for others with advice, but let me chime in to say, "thanks".  ... for being a caring human. Good luck!       http://headblade.com
  9.     From the first "dude" that cut him (the RR driver) off and brake-checked him (no way that RR could've stopped in the same time as a bike), I would have certainly been in fear of serious bodiy injury for my family - that large of a group, all acting in concert, already having shown a disdain for the law.        By myself - and especially with my family, I absolutely would try everything I could to avoid any contact - whether they are threatening me or not - I will avoid, evade, and/or escape if possible.  With that said, once they start trying to invade my family's safe space, the options get a lot smaller.
  10. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/09/30/gang-bikers-attack-driver-after-high-speed-chase/   Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNOyDMzn2bY     Though I could theorize, in actuality, I'm not sure what I would've done differently.  Bad day.
  11. along these lines, how much effort (TWRA or other), if any, has been put into maintaining or re-introducing quail populations here in TN?   With your FIL's "techniques", is repopulating something a grass roots organization could champion?
  12. I have a lunch in about an hour over there.  Anybody have the scoop on whether or not it is carriable?   I searched and came up with nada.
  13. Aaaaaaaha ha ha haaa!   maybe it was Colorado... medicate, munchies,... "dude,... that guy with the gun totally needs some of your medicine, bra. - oh look, he's coming back, ya wanna ask him?"  ... that is one looooong OODA loop.   Heck of an interesting story.  Good addition, Jonnin.          I'm sure there is a breadth of faithers and non-faithers on here, and I'm quite sure my shut mouth on the subject is a benefit to all.   :)  I hope you all stay safe - no matter the cause.
  14. I have a 10yr old Powermac G5 tower that has been sitting in the hot/cold/damp garage for a year... it powered up the other day and ran like a champ.  I've also lost macs to logic board issues after 5 years... so... YMMV.   Good luck with getting your computer back up.
  15. Interesting to me as more governments join and/or ratify this treaty- knowing that the government-to-government back-door arms trades have always been "outside the law",  this law can only serve to widen the power-gap between governments and the citizens those governments should be serving.   Ominous.   Let me also say, that I am absolutely for.. for... for compassion - for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all members of the human race.  It breaks my heart to see people in pain from violence - no matter who they are or where they are.  I want kids, women, and men to be safe in all countries, BUT... effectual stability, safety, and security (and root morality) will always be a local cultural issue - it has never been governmental and will never be.  Governments (the systems, not the individuals) are designed to rule... and if left unchecked, the system will work to bring every experience under that rule.     Intersting about the United Nations... it generally lacks oomph to effectively adjudicate and regulate government entities that offend, so it has resorted to encouraging governments (many of whom are not egregious offenders) to regulate their own citizens.     I don't buy into sinister conspiricy theories; I simply think the systems are functioning as they were designed - what are missing are effective checks and balances.   The world  - through increased population and technology is increasing in complexity.  (IT & programmers, check me on this) Whenever you increase the complexity of a system, you have to increase the structure (rules) to maintain stability and functionality.   Not to over-bibliocize this - but in wisdom literature, you can look to the Christian Scriptures:  Israel asked for a King - their God said, "You don't know what you are asking; trust me when I say, you don't want a King."  Israel essentially demanded, "Yes, give us a King!!"  - Israel got their kings and -through good and bad kings, Israel paid the price for giving their collective representation over to a King.      In societies' desire for safety and security, masses of people are asking for a King - more rule of law - to keep them safe.  Many of us are responding... "You don't know what you are asking; trust me when I say, you do not want a King."    Orwell much anyone?
  16. In another post (Arms Treaty), I posted this:     Not to over-bibliocize this - but in wisdom literature, you can look to the Christian Scriptures:  Israel asked for a King - their God said, "You don't know what you are asking; trust me when I say, you don't want a King."  Israel essentially demanded, "Yes, give us a King!!"  - Israel got their kings and -through good and bad kings, Israel paid the price for giving their collective representation over to a King.      In societies' desire for safety and security, masses of people are asking for a King - more rule of law - to keep them safe.  Many of us are responding... "You don't know what you are asking; trust me when I say, you do not want a King."         Which made me think of this: While the NRA is arguably the most effective lobby for protecting a free USA, I feel like we need a counterpart that is solely dedicated to cultivating a wise, caring, and aware voting public. - one that does not get caught up in the fray - but focusses on its mission of cultivating a freedom-loving public.     For the record: I can't see this being successful if it is tied to a certain religion - or anything that divides or alienates any major US demographic. I don't mean to offend; I simply think that without success here, religion will eventually be outlawed, so... for any of us who may be religious, if it feels like bedding down with enemies - it can be done now in a caring environment,... or religion can wait and be savaged and torn to shreds later.  As I recall, there are plenty of examples of exercising such wisdom in the scriptures.   Thoughts?  Does it exist?  What can we do?

    My foot

Sorry, somehow my text was deleted from my post.  Dr. Tressler fixed both of my mother's ankles.  One was a hideous bone spur, and she has had great results.  I am pretty sure he has operated on quite a few NBA and NFL players in their off-season.  To say that he knows his stuff is a massive understatement.   On top of that, he is one heck of a nice guy.     Good luck Vontar!

  19. Exception accepted. I'm not so much for more tracking.... Just more disclosure and understanding about the effects and possible side effects of such drugs.
  20. I generally give everyone a wide berth, and I don't like to judge, period.  ... Still, I couldn't help but notice this gigantic slip.   This is my post:   Ok.. I am sadly wary of anyone's role as "consoler-in-chief" when the consoling appears to be a political-agenda slam session. Is this truly an appropriate way to memorialize and honor those wonderful souls who were lost? Wouldn't a good first step be to speak of them and the legacy they leave... forsaking one's own agenda? Also - below is a quote. If it is accurate, it appears that Mr. President views the Bill of Rights as merely a collection of traditions. "I do not accept that we cannot find a common-sense way to preserve our traditions, including our basic Second Amendment freedoms and the rights of law-abiding gun owners while at the same time reducing the gun violence that unleashes so much mayhem on a regular basis," Obama said. "It may not happen tomorrow and it may not happen this week, it may not happen next month. But it will happen because it is the change that we need. And it's a change overwhelmingly supported by the majority of Americans." - President Obama (as reported by wkrn) Do you want to make a difference Mr. President? Well, here you go:  1) Help agencies be more accountable for the way they process information - and how they handle threats. ie. enforce the laws we have. As we have seen in many of these public acts of violence with mass casualties, there were many warning signs, often visible signs of mental illness, and possibly prescriptions for psychotropic drugs. There have also frequently been associations with violent, 1st person-shooter video games. We can certainly address these possible root causes. 2) While you are "obsessed" about stopping mass shootings, lets do some real good. I will join you in pleading for the media to stop making these folks famous - to voluntarily bury their names and their stories. People who act out violently in this way should immediately cease to exist. This is a progressive, humane, and incredibly brave act that media executives can demand of their teams. Those media outlets who choose to continue to glorify these criminals can and should be cast out by advertizers and viewers. If you really want to curb mass acts of public violence, start here. 3) Stop selling the country on the false pretense that a "gun free zone", where an assailant knows they will not be reasonably opposed, is the right idea for all of America. The Navy yard was a gun free zone inside another gun free zone (Washington, D.C.). Even so, it had armed security. It should've been doubly safe,. ..but again, we see that those intent on criminal harm do not obey the rule of law... what results is that law abiding husbands, fathers, brothers, mothers, daughters, and sisters are caught defensless in their time of greatest need. I want to see change as well as you. I want to reduce human-on-human violence as much as possible. I, and many like me, are willing to help. Lets get real, and lets make a difference by finding and addressing the root causes of workplace & public violence - not by undermining the foundation of our democracy. Real solutions may span more than one president's term, but the end goal of a more peaceful and free society is worth it. Our childrens' future is worth it. We can preserve our freedoms and bring about actual, sustainable reductions in public violence in the United States. Let's talk. Please share if you would like Mr. President to read this.
  21. congrats - and may you be rewarded 1000 times your gift and sacrifice.  - of course, a few smiles through tears and precious moments over the years will fill that up without much effort.
  22. I would imagine those are words learned either: a: locally on that device - or b: globally through Siri.  Siri is the proverbial fly on everyone's wall.   still - back to laughter!
