Remington R-51

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/01/01/remington-announces-r-51-pistol/   Single-stack 9mm / 7+1 / rated for +p / grip safety, internal drop safety / stationary barrel with locking breech   -under $400.... and says "Remington Arms Co - Charlotte, NC" on the side.  :)   Boy - did somebody give Glock a bucnh of Cryptonite for Christmas or what!?
3. Yep.  that seems to be my short hand for CHMR.  ... I just think of it as the range on Owl Hollow Road - I don't know about any other Owl Hollow (?)   of course this is a range which is shares the awesome distinction of the oldest continually open range in the country... was founded by and is named after - for all I can tell, a wonderful person... and is now run by... well, a good guy cut from the same cloth.   -so I didn't mean any disrespect for that... I apparently just remember places of business by location.
4. ...I thought I heard someone say they would be closed today. Anyone know of anywhere in MdTN that is open today? Happy New Year!
5. .243 is a great deer rifle for thie tails around here.
6.
Feedin babies all nite here...milk party at my place...
Twins!!! They are beautiful!! Ours are 6yrs old. I remember those days! After feeding, the wife and I would prop our knees up as we lay in bed and cradle them -facing us on our legs. They were propped up and so were we. We cherished every sleeping second second of those post-feeding catnaps.... and those sweet, innocent, beauties sleeping right in front of us. Hang in there!! Y have some gorgeous kids! Us. ... Hanging at the house.. I heard someone today raving about how Nashville was "like New York" with all of the downtown stuff going on.... All I could think is,.. Good for all the folks that want to be there... I can't wait to settle down with the wife and kids! "Turbo" is on the TV and we are laughing the night away.
7. The hex screws never seem to be tight enough for me.  It is good, ok, better than a lot.  I wish it were more squared away.
8. Will do.  It is daunting.  I WANTED to buy a Vortex Razor HD for $1500.00....  :)... but.   I also passed on the Konus 20x60x100... which seems to be a great little range scope  -- but big.   From the long range hunting forums I gathered that I can get my fancy 80mm objective scope later for spotting at the range, but this scope will serve me well for now and will double later as a lightweight, compact 60x scope for backpacking, etc.
9. I have spent way too much time on Optics Planet for the last 24hrs.  I finally bought a Vortex Nomad 20x60x60 straight (the discontinued model... I suspect it is the same as the Viper (non HD) without the fine focus adjustment.   I bought it at Outpost Armory... it was $299, it was as good or better than the leupold 20x60x80 ($549) that I compared side by side.  I also looked at the Redfield, the Vortex was a bit more solid feeling... and has the Vortex warranty.   For what it's worth, the Oculus brand 20x60x80 at BassPro had amazing clarity at 60x.. .. I would've bought it, but I couldn't stomach not knowing about the durability.
10. Price -to-glass clarity was very good.   They had a $650 20x60x80 Nikon ProStaff that couldn't hold a candle to the Oculus at mid to full magnification.  The clarity at 60x was pretty unbelievable.     The Oculus was $449.-- - with a coaxial coarse/fine adjustment knob (which helped), a sturdy tripod, and a "live-on" case.   It didn't look like chinese glass.... but then again, I think the Nikon was chinese as well.
11. I went to BassPro tonight to look at spotting scopes.  They had a Leupold 20-60, a Redfield, A Nikon ProStaff, and a couple of other names I didn't know.   I used a spot on a wall 94.5yds from the counter.  BassPro's store-brand "Oculus" was, by far the best thing in the case.  It has a coarse and fine focus knob.  It was crystal clear even at 60x.   Anyone else have experience with Oculus stuff?  (Made in China, fyi)   The glass and clarity was remarkable, but I am concerned about build-quality over time.
12.
Neurology is an extremely difficult field. It takes a special person to go to med school and an even more special to do Neuro. With the days of big money passing away in medicine there isn't much incentive to spend the time and energy unless you just love neurology. It's 4 years MD 5 years residency. It's a lot of time and energy. Plus it's a tough field emotionally cause you see some really bad diagnoses
that... and for neurosurgery, you rarely do a surgery/consult that is routine. It is all serious, and the consequences of screwing up (lawsuit/malpractice premiums, etc.). are always huge.
13.
Well that dadburn boat flipped last week, to bad I lost all my firearms in the water over the deepest part of the lake.
... happened to me earlier this year. I'll never take that behemoth of a dog on another boat so long as I live. She's sweet, but she's no sailor!
14. I'm wanting to pick up a spotting scope. Any ideas on where to shop for glass in Nashville without paying way too much?
15. hmmm... can I just miss Eisenhower instead?   :pleased:
16. "White Christmas" .. the movie - playing in the background while we wrap Santa presents.
17. Daisy Model 10. My son's first. Well.. Santa is bringing it to him... Based on a strong recommendation from me.
18. Joy, Pain, Sweetness, Sorrow, Silliness, Stress, Laughter, Goodness , Hope, and Peace that can come with this mysterious season....along with the children's incredible, irrepressible wonder and excitement at the coming Christmas morn.        To each and every one that makes up TGO, a Merry Christmas from our family to you and yours. Whatever of those experiences listed above fills your season, know that you are loved. - Here's hoping you can see at least one smile like I've seen on my kids' faces tonight.        So as my wife and I (more her) work as Santa's elves one more time on this Silent Night, we wish a whole and lasting peace for each of you. Merry Christmas.
19. Unless they have fixed problem, Chrysler products always seemed to have transmission problems a little too early. Anyone else have thoughts on that?
20. Pulled a big limb out of the roof/room of a house in Jackson tonight. Got to the house where we are staying and a huge oak had let go and clobbered the fence. Stay safe, everyone!
21. Oh, we have a nice electrolux canister vacuum (a few years old).  It is a HEPA vac - bags and filter work great.  No complaints here.     Funny thing is: when it came time to compare our powered "foot" of the vacuum to the rainbow, I pointed to our dissasembled foot (with the replacement parts right beside it) and told him that would be tough.  A piece had broken a while back, and I've taken my time (too long) getting around to fixing it.     I was just curious  - after seeing the great sales pitch - how many people like it, and how many people have buyer's remorse!
22. Brutally honest: Since I haven't been in that situation, I couldn't tell you with 100% certainty what I would do if I was on that train, but the grown men (boys) just running away....  I sure hope I don't do that.   -now, if I have my small children with me, it will be a different story.  Without hesitation, I get them to cover, asap, then I get them to safety, then I evaluate the developing situation.
