I want to thread the needle between a dedicated long range rifle and one that is light enough to carry in on hunts.

Aimpoint Pro & a SSA-E trigger from Outpost Armory. It wasn't tax free, but it was 20% off!! :pleased:
-
Anyone have any experience with these? Trigger was incredible and bolt felt very smooth (not indestructible, but smooth). -- wondering if there is enough support to build a long range platform out of this rifle.

I must've missed where you told me about the Beretta showroom. That will be a good tandem with the factory in Gallatin. We need to go when I get this project finished up.

Alright, that's the second reference to 2-strokes and exhaust. What am I missing? are you guys saying always run them wide open? ... or is there something else?

I've run Stihl 4-mix, Husq, and echo (blowers & trimmers). My echo trimmer & Stihl BR600 (not a 4-mix) are 4 years old & 2 years old. Both start on the first pull. Echo oil for the echo, Stihl oil for the blower (for the warranty). Always - no-ethanol fuel and Sta-bil... always. Of note: I always run the tanks dry (so fuel doesn't age in the tank... if you keep adding new fuel to old, you will always have some fuel in there that is old, old, old. I also change the air filters more than most folks. I also start them the exact same way every time. I know how many pumps on the bulb and when it starts to fire I flip choke to 1/2,... then off a few seconds later. -One pull for my kawasaki powered Ferris Hydro-cut as well. - though I had to pull and clean the carb this spring. OP - you didn't mention brand names. I'll always be the first schmuck to say that it matters. Redmax and Shindaiwa are high-performance tools... they will outperform most everything else, ... but they won't last as long. Stihl products can easily last a homeowner a generation.... (if they don't get stolen). Echo may not last as long as stihl, but it has a lower entry point and will do pretty well for a homeowner. Every fall when our 20 mature hardwoods drop leaves, I lament that I did not buy a Redmax blower. Every spring when I pull my BR600 out and it cranks right up, I am glad I bought a Stihl.

2nd endorsement for this door. We installed a PowerPet door in our garage man-door when we lived in Knoxville. I went through a lot of the little collars, but we loved it! At some point, we will most likely install one in our current home.

Get as big a freezer as you want.... but with all of that meat in there, be sure and buy a generator for it. - and check with your neighbors if you are out of town and a storm hits (probably good to do anyway). :pleased: Paying to freeze food for one year = $200.00. Loosing $1,500.00 in meat to a power outage=priceless.

I don't know, but I hit one on state roue 69 last night. (that's not code) I saw it and - while telling it to pick a direction, I eased over the line so that I would straddle it - missing it.... much to my and my son's surprise, it was so big it clocked the undercarriage of our truck. Bummer for it. That was one, big Armadillo. You could've fed the whole family.

Purposely giving yourself a chemical burn is not something I have ever understood... but then again, I have never liked the thought of injuring myself or others. -
1) Extra tomato paste. 2) (everything in) The Garden. 3) (everything in) The Smoke House. thin crust and lots of spices. That about covers it.

So my Great Uncle had this Ranger II Stick-Steer fishing boat....

It's on pause for the week. I live in Nashville; it is in Jackson. I'm not buying tires for the trailer until I am sure that I can get it to run! Although it would be a lot easier to work on tucked right beside the garage. :pleased: - just trying to be cautious and not through good money after bad. ... but then again, I am working on a boat! If I do get it to Nashville, I will take you up on some help pulling the lower and replacing the impeller. I will probably have to pull the carburetors and clean them - maybe jets... but I will soak them in seafoam spray for now. -

Thanks guys- Went back over tonight and checked for spark. 2 out of 4. Wiring harness is gone. I've sourced the part. I will patch up the wiring tomorrow and see if I can get spark in all 4. If so, I will order the harness. I will also replace fuel lines inside the engine. It's tight in there! -
... and when he passed away years ago, it was put up under a shed with other implements. Over the years, I have watched it sitting up there... tires rotting away... nothing touched from when he last took it out. The last TN registration expired in '02. As a kid, I spent hours upon hours sitting on a cooler in the middle of that boat... handing out the sausage and biskets from one cooler... and taking the crappie off of the line and putting them in the other cooler while my Great Aunt and Great Uncle fished the day away with 5 or 6 poles a piece. With my own son taking a huge interest in fishing, I am determined to get this boat back in the water. My nephew and I went over this evening and put new fuel in a clean tank, fab'd up a new fuel line - put the lower in a trash can of water and "borrowed" a battery. To my great surprise, the starter turned over like she had just run yesterday. I didn't have the correct clip for the fuel line, so it wouldn't hold pressure. The motor wanted to fire, but couldn't draw fuel. I will fix the fuel line tomorrow. Knowing that she will turn over, I will check plugs for spark and make sure the fuel can get to the carburetor. For you outboard geniuses, am I crazy for cranking it without tearing it down and checking the rings, etc. ?? That is beyond my experience, but I am willing. I just don't want to sink any more money than I have to until she runs. It has been sitting for at least 12 years. By the way - power tilt worked like a charm as well. I am a little beside myself, but we're not out of the woods yet. What would you do to get it back in running condition?
-
well, to all who might be disappointed. Since it is listed in "curios & relics". ... just what did you think you were gonna' find? :). who knew? Vintage is "back".
-
funny. I read "rare" finds... only when 3 replies in did I realize the humor of this thread. ... this is truly a gift of laughter... and a good heads' up. I keep scrolling back up top... and laughing all over again!

so sorry for his pain.. and now for yours. supportive and loving thoughts to you and to his family.

If you are going to shoot it, the AR platform is designed to be operated safely (verifying condition), cleaned easily, and last for a lifetime. The design works well in that regard. I would feel much more confident with my son - trained to operate an AR platform If it is going to sit in a display case, build whatever you like to look at. :pleased:

If it was kept close to potable, then it could be harvested and put in useful circulation!

I tend to embrace managing risk. I have a strobe on my road bike (human-powered), and I would want strobes on a motorcycle... wouldn't ride loud pipes (I've been annoyed too many times), but even if I did, I would have a mini-strobe, front, back, and sides.
-
I would come much closer to buying this than I would a traditional Harley. .... and I "get" and love the art, history, and vibe of Harley. - as for what some may or may not like about it. It will always, always, always be capable of more torque - throughout the RPM range than any combustion engine that would fit on a bike. - it should be one smooth ride. I would love to check it out! -maintenance ought to be minimal, daily commute expense would be crazy low. I would just need some strobes all over the thing to be "visible" in the lane. Good move. -this shows they are world-leaders in their industry - I'm hoping this is the beginning of great things for them.

I've heard the same rumor as MacGyver. Could've been something as simple as record keeping. They were always nice folks whenever I was in there. It will be interesting to see what it becomes.
