  1. ... that I could come over and use.  I'll gladly take you out to lunch or coffee afterwards - or if you'd rather, supply a pack of your favorite beverage.   I need to take off a stuck flash hider and install a new one (current one is not pinned, just very "secure")
  2. here you go: http://video.foxnews.com/v/3843273285001/dr-frieden-on-why-cdc-approved-travel-for-amber-joy-vinson/#sp=show-clips   http://video.foxnews.com/v/3843337162001/lawmaker-presses-cdc-chief-on-opposition-to-ebola-travel-ban/#sp=show-clips
  3. - love that the director of the CDC got asked in the hearing today on The Hill (paraphrase): Since when is "protecting fledgling democracies" the mission of the CDC?    - He also got pressed on just how many isolation units were available across the country... had no answer.   thank you.
  4. I've had them - when I was in college (after getting Mono - immune system was trashed).  I didn't know what they were... until months and months later when my brother came down with Mono... and then the doctor told him he also had shingles. ... I looked at it, asked him what they felt like... yep.   They hurt, but I didn't have them everywhere, so I guess it was pretty mild.  I still have the scars.
  5. ^^ "The crisis needs stronger leadership." Period.    If Katrina hadn't gone down the way it had, I might be more tempted to blast Obama as incompetent.  He might be; it seems that way, but the record shows that the job is a tough one.  Lamar would get my vote for President today.   Step 1: Do something sensible.   Step 2: Do something else sensible.   We haven't gotten to step 1 yet.
  6. Things I can't say on open forums like FB....   I have a lot of ignorance about Ebola and our medical establishment's preparedness, but....   POTUS calling up the national guard now to send to West Africa!??  Are we kidding?  Is it April 1st?!!!   I think it's time to protest.  Forget cops and thugs....  This is our National Guard.  We're calling up the National Guard to deploy to SOMEON ELSE'S NATION while we still haven't stopped direct or indirect travel into our own country.     - a patient in Madrid is now being monitored (reporting fever) after she was transported in an ambulance right after the patient that recently died over there. ... transported just before they realized the bus needed to be sterilized.    If this patient turns out to have Ebola (hope not), all bets are off.  I highly doubt the second bus rider was licking the floor.  If it is that contagious, we are not prepared to handle Ebola in the US.  We are too mobile, too "civilian", and our soldiers ... there should be a lot more conversation before any more soldiers get shipped over there.  I feel like mad momma right now.  ... need to go chop some wood or something.   I was neutral a couple of hours ago.  Now I'm pissed.
  7. ... from the CDC website  - be sure and read the footnote for "1"   http://www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/hcp/case-definition.htmlhttp://www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/hcp/case-definition.html   Low1 risk exposures A low risk exposure includes any of the following Household contact with an EVD patient Other close contact with EVD patients in health care facilities or community settings. Close contact is defined as being within approximately 3 feet (1 meter) of an EVD patient or within the patient’s room or care area for a prolonged period of time (e.g., health care personnel, household members) while not wearing recommended personal protective equipment (i.e., standard, droplet, and contact precautions; see Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations) having direct brief contact (e.g., shaking hands) with an EVD patient while not wearing recommended personal protective equipment. Brief interactions, such as walking by a person or moving through a hospital, do not constitute close contact No known exposure Having been in a country in which an EVD outbreak occurred within the past 21 days and having had no high or low risk exposures * As of 30 August 2014, EVD outbreaks are affecting multiple countries in West Africa (see Affected Areas) 1 For purposes of monitoring and movement restrictions of persons with Ebola virus exposure, low risk is interpreted as some risk. See www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/hcp/monitoring-and-movement-of-persons-with-exposure.html
  8. ^^yep.  Those aerosol particles would be "bodily Fluids".  My (ignorant) guess is that Ebola ranks somewhere right behind flue in how infectious it is  ... the kicker is how much active care a patient needs if they are going to stand a chance of surviving... much more contact than someone with the flu.... as well as how much bodily fluid the patient will be emitting from ...basically every pore.  - all of those (still infectious) fluids need to be handled and disposed of... tough nut for unprepared places.
  9. This ticket redeemable for one good laugh:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2KBfynW09I   -anyone seen Shephard Smith's blurb about media coverage of Ebola?    I tried to watch it... and though some of his sentiment is technically correct (albeit the disease should never have been a threat here at all) ... I couldn't tolerate the delivery.  I would LOVE to see a Saturday Night Live skit based on this....  with a bunch of melting down 3 year olds dressed up like adults in front of TVs all across the nation - every cajoling that he gives, they swing back to being "ok" with eyes glued - his verbal coddling turning boo-hoos into ebbing sniffles of hope... rinse and repeat.   I can't believe so many of us need to be talked to like that - enough to keep talking heads swimming over their heads in money (no matter their political persuasion).
  10. We have built a lot of medical offices, surgery centers, and imaging centers over the years.  MRIs are no joke.
  11. Alright fellas, what language did you choose?  (feel free to say why?)  I am learning (or re-learning) German -  predominant language in Germany, Switzerland (65%), and Austria ...  Much of what strength exists in the EU exists with German speakers.
  12. I went to check out via paypal and it showed charging me tax on $499 - while the price of the product was $209.   ??  sheesh.   Edit:  called and got it all straightened out.
  13.      If my arm was twisted to make a guess - this is a case of a drugged-out college student thinking they are locked out at "home".  busts his way in... but nothing is making sense in his disabled brain. ... way gone.   - a kid who had no reason or intent to harm anyone, but put himself in grave, grave danger by leaving his mind (and consciousness) behind for a bit.  .. it's a story I will tell my kids when they are a little older.  That kid is lucky he wasn't killed.        As for the mom, I could not imagine having no recourse, no fight or flight plan... from one person... in my own home.
  14. http://www.wsmv.com/story/26776347/woman-wakes-to-find-man-screaming-inside-her-home   That kid was lucky.   I cannot imagine being the mother - scared for her life, holding her infant child... and no idea, no plan, no "options" at all of how to address the situation.   holy.  cow.     There was enough lucky in this to go all the way around.
  15.   We've all been there in some unique way.  ... You've just invited us to enjoy your journey, so chin up; renew that card, and carry on.  ... oh... and mind those cracks and crevices next time - one can never be too careful!      :bowrofl:
  16. ... at night, headlights in the rearview mirror.  I'm usually right on.
  17.      Just a note to say that I went down to 4 Seasons while I was in Jackson today.  I grew up rabbit hunting with the owner decades ago.  From Carhart to Drake to fancy girly-boots and everything inbetween, they have great stuff.  If you are in the area, it's worth it to stop by.  I teased them about opening a shop in Franklin.  ... someday.
  18. agreed. Thank you, TMF. - a good reminder and a great statement.
  19. kudos.  fantastic job, great look.
  20. Thank goodness. -wish her and her loved ones well in some other endeavor.
  21. "and gals"... -Head of S.S. has to go.  This is a failure of epic proportions.  No matter what his/her name is, the existance of a sitting President of the United States is a treasure of the people of this free nation.  To have the "castle" of the president so easily breached is unforgiveable.
