  1. I just wanted tell folks about this store. I've stopped in a few times in the past and have always been treated very nicely, which doesn't happen in a lot of the larger establishments in and around Nashville. They have a really nice selection of guns, ammo and knives for such a small shop. They are located on Charlotte Pike in west Nashville. If you are out that way stop in and give em a look see.
  2. Unique is kinda dirty, even the new stuff , so your DE may not run too smooth with it. With the Berry's bullets you should stay with lighter cast bullet data. With that said you might try up to 10gr. in the DE and anywhere from 8 to 10grs. in the 329 will be all you want in that feather of a .44.
  3. No experience with either unit you mentioned but I do have a Kimber conversion that gives great accuracy and zero problems with feeding or ejection.
  4. I never separate brass for practice ammo. I only load near max loads in new or once fired brass that I'm sure of where it came from. Be aware also that there is 45acp brass out there with small primer pockets. Give all your range brass a good looking over before reloading.
  5. I agree with everyone on the 2400, very versatile, but 10 grs. of Unique behind a 240 gr. cast bullet ain't no plinker load.
  6. Used Glock 36. Would never fire more than three shots of any ammo without some sort of mishap. Even sent it back to factory, was still unreliable on it's best day. Traded it to a guy that had a love of plastic guns. Now we're both happy.
  7. When talking with Mr. Pie pay close attention. He is a member of a group of RUGER lovers who have a world of knowledge concering all things related to RUGERS new and old.
  8. I've got a S&W 29 mountain gun and it is usualy loaded with the 7.5gr unique loading. According to people in the know it is just as effective as a defensive load as the 230gr 45 acp. at 800fps. There are tons other loads for this round as it as been around for a lot of years. In the last couple of years Ruger has introduced their mid-frame Blackhawk in .44spcl. I've got a couple of em and they are a sweet gun if you happen to like S.A.s.
  9. I have a Kimber conversion kit that I've used on my LES BEAR, ED BROWN, SPRINGFIELD, and S&W 45s. It shoots as well as my Ruger 6in MK111. It does not lock the slide back on an empty mag. but that's never been an issue for me. It has been trouble free for about 4000 rds.
  10. +1 on the columbia river knives. I bought three of them, but haven't been able to destroy the first one yet.
  11. Thanks for the tidbit. 99 never looked so good.

    Les Baer TRS

Shoot it. Tote it. With pride and confidence. I've had a blue one on my hip for the last year, with about 5000rds thru it. Not a mark on it and it still impresses me every time I shoot it.
  13. +1 on the Lee manual. Which ever you choose, buy a new one,[or two] because powders and load data does change from time to time.
  14. Be sure and try it with both rounds. These guns seem to prefer one or the other even at close range. Enjoy it ,they are great little guns.
  15. Just recently fired some 50s vintage .44 special and all 89 rounds went bang with nary a problem. Also some .22 longs my dad had from the late 30s with the same results.
