  1. birdshot will work, buckshot is ok.
  2. Gallatin Gun IDPA will host a Pistol/Shotgun match on 05/09/09. IDPA match is 60 rounds pistol and 2 shotgun. A stage shot gun will be provided for stage 3, 12ga pump. The shotgun side match is 13 shot and 14 pistol. Match is open to all, Start time is 9:00AM. $10 entry fee for Gallatin members, $15 for non-members.
  3. I have used it in .45acp and .38spl with good results.
  4. I have cut my shooting in half, my skills are showing it too.
  5. Win. 231, HP-38, zip=all the same powder, runs in everything, 2nd good old bullseye.
  6. This year the long range rifle is combined with shot gun.
  7. Deerslayer; Old stock, the new batch of titegroup needs 3.0 to make PF. I also had to increase the charge on my .40 to keep them in major, up to 4.7grs. I have had up to 100fps difference between guns on the same batch of ammo. I took some white box ammo that would only run at 122 PF in a Sig, Run at 126PF in my G-34. What works for me may not work for others. I believe that that 2.8 load was with moly coated bullets, FMJ would need more powder.
  8. titegroup has a 38% nitro content, makes it hot and will pressure spike very quickly with a over charge. I use it in my 125 gr. JHP in 9mm, 3.7grs and 180gr FMJ in .40, 4.6 grs. I have has better results with WSF with the 147gr 9mm bullet. The 2.8 grs. of titegroup required for min. power factor on the 147gr 9mm makes the slide lazy. Titegroup is close to AA#2 on burn rate charts.
  9. Call me a wuss, no end to the rain and 45 is more than I want to deal with. I will hang out at the rifle shed if someone wants a quick steel match.
  10. pen and paper, log all of you loads and their performance.
  11. Hodgdon.com has lots of good reloading charts on their website. Powder depends on the type of loads. Good fast powders are Hodgdon clays, Alliant red dot and green dot and Winchester WST for up to 1 1/8 oz loads. Winchester WSF and Hodgdon Longshot are good for heavy field loads. Go to reloaders bench and get wads and shot to match what you are loading for.
  12. Lee Loadmaster, 2 of them.
  13. I am using a Lee Loadmaster with a final sizing die, OAL is 1.125 with 180gr FMJ Sling, I shoot a G35 only because I am too cheap to buy the STI I really want. The full race STI is a sweet shooting gun.
  14. I have reloaded 10,000 .40s&w. I have had 1 case failure. I do check them close for any case flaws and trash any that fail the test. I do a full case resize. The buldge at the 6o'clock the glock barrel makes is a problem for tight fitting aftermarket barrells. As long as you do a good case inspection, you should have no problems.
  15. I have found that the Philly Cheese fills in the voids better. We had 8 brave souls.
  16. put some hot pockets in your shoes and join us.

Show up at the Feb.9th meeting at 7:00PM with a app. Any body that I know I will sponsor. You will have to wait untill March before Ron starts to work through the apps. We will not add on, just replace the ones dropping out. You will pay when you are accepted. No back ground check for Carry permit holders. NRA membership required. Robert
  18. Due to heavy rains, we did not have the classifier, instead we shot a man on man steel match. Scott Butler was the winner with Chip Perce as runner up. Classifier will be held again on Feb. 14.
  19. no, you may shoot it as a match. If you join later this year I can use it to determin a class for you.
  20. I perfer to make the trip to Owensboro on the 3rd saturday from Nashville. I used to go to Oak Ridge on the 1st or 3rd Sunday. I also noticed that most of the unclassified shooters at the IDPA match are IPSC shooters as well as a good number of the IDPA classified shooters. Range sharing made the match more Lobor intensvive, requiring more clean up after the match and loosing the ability to leave stages set up to be resued later. Shooting one day a month also caused problems.
  21. I have used HP-38 in 9mm with good results with 124 and 147 grain bullets. Titegroup is my perfered powder for 9mm in the lighter bullet weights.
  22. non-member range fee is $15 for first gun, $5 for second gun and/or shotgun for score. test run or fun runs are free after a paid 1st run.
  23. Why yes it does, a smell like no other.
