No. This is what I've done for the 1000 or so pieces I made. If your time is worth much, buy it already prepped. rough cut with mini saw deprime tumble (stainless media). some of the brass I'm using is pretty rough looking size trim load

I bought a whole crate of them.

Lowered the sight on a 22/45
smopoim86 replied to smopoim86's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
It has the full MKII kit in it with the MKII trigger bushing. Essentially a MKII with chamber indicator. I installed the same kit in my MKIII Hunter. The "can" is on the way. -
A few months ago I bought the railed and threaded MKIII 22/45. I had a Docter sight that I put on it with a cheap off brand mount but was never happy with it. It was much too high. Tonight I decided to fix it and mount the sight directly to the rail. I milled the top portion off the rail and drilled and tapped 2 mounting holes directly in the rail. I effectively lowered the sight by about half an inch. Makes it feel much better and I no longer regret not getting the iron sight model.

SP101 Front Sight Replacement Question?
smopoim86 replied to Dennis1209's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I've done it on mine. I recall having to drill the replacement sight. I'm not sure of the best way to hold it in while you drill it. (unless your new sight is already drilled) -
I had a brick of 22 from them and had 6-8 that were completely mutilated.

I wanted some of that, but it only lasted about 20 hours. Didn't get a chance to order.

The blazer 525 is what I usually get from PSA, I think the last 2 or 3 cases I bought were $17 a box shipped

Call the Halls and Clinton wallmarts. Clinton has had ammo every time i've been out there (it has been a while though)

Ask DLM, he might be able to find them. Otherwise, you may be waiting for a while. I had the same problem with a #6, took 3 months to find one.

So I copper plated some bullets today
smopoim86 replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I should bring you a lab power supply to see what effect different voltage has on the process. -
I'd love to get one of these at some point.

308 reloading. bullet seating and OAL.
smopoim86 replied to vujade's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
When you change the length, you are also changing the pressure some. I'm definitely not an expert here, but you are changing more than the jump to rifling when you change the oal. You should shoot them across a crono and see how the velocity changes with the oal. -
I got my two cans a couple days ago. This is some nice looking stuff in terrible looking wrappers.

Why your AR conversion won't shoot accurately
smopoim86 replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
What diameter in the smooth bore? Is it possible the bullet is getting swaged down too small? Press a bullet through the conversion and measure it. I'm curious. -
I'm a sucker for stripper clips. In for 2. Thanks for the heads up Daniel

C&R FFL came today! Now what?
smopoim86 replied to CapnVideo's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
don't fool with it from midway. You come out better off using discount codes that don't work from a dealer account. Most of the site isn't any cheaper. Brownells on the other hand does a great job with C&R dealer pricing. -
All the zombie stuff in the news is just advertising for a upcoming movie that will be nothing like the book it was named after. Are the z-max rifle bullets just V-Max with greed plugs?

+2, I'm not sure I've done business with a nicer guy. David is great to deal with.

Security is theater. There is no way to provide true security. They keep taking away anything you could harm someone with. How long before we need to be in strait jackets to board a plane. Those hands might be used as weapons. You can't give away freedom in the name of security. You gain neither. Oh well, I'm sure you all feel the same way. I flew for the first time this year and realized about halfway back I had accidentally left something in my carryon. Yep, they missed it. I feel so safe.

It's not a raw cost issue. I can tumble more cases at a time, the primer holes and inside of the cases get cleaned, and there is no dust. The worst part is drying the cases. It is still faster if you take the primer hole cleaning time into account.

Finally got my tumbler finished. Holds 12lb of media, 2 gallons of water, and can tumble over 10lb of brass at a time. I ordered my media and a couple parts from http://biggdawgtumblers.net/. Bruce is a great guy to deal with and responds quickly to email. I used parts of his design and put a little twist on it to save space. I just got it painted and put back together today. What I've tumbled came out great. EDIT: fixed link

QFT! He managed to find some equipment that I've been looking for that is out of stock everywhere. Great prices too.

I carry at 4-5. It sounds like the dangerous way to carry you describe would be considered small of back. I can't figure out what would make you want to have to contort your arm that much to draw and muzzle sweep yourself.
