  1. I know a few gun hating tree huggers, though I hesitate to lump the 2 together. So far they're vastly outnumbered, but they're also a noisy lot and more move here every day. The city of Louisville (that's Lewis- ville) recent enacted an ordinance prohibiting the discharge of a firearm within 100 yds of a dwelling, road, etc.. https://www.wbir.com/mobile/article/news/local/louisville-tenn-gun-ordinance-passes-restricting-where-people-can-shoot-a-firearm/51-572962848 Most all the "cities" prohibit it as well, but shooting on your own property is permitted outside the city limits. Neighbors that don't like the noise will be your primary issue. The further out you get, the less likely you are to have issues. I hear people shooting near my house all the time. I have no issue as long as the bullets don't hit my house... which they have in the past.
  2. Similar to MIM - Metal Injection Molded and common metallic sintered brake pads. Lots of stuff is made that way. The guy who got tired of throwing away all those metal chips from machining and figured out a way to make money using them. Its a good product when used in the proper application. It's kinda like concrete.... Tensile strength isn't great, but works quite well in compression.
  3. Pics or it didn't happen.
  4. Sales tax... just mentally add 10% to the price of everything. Crime... not bad depending on where you are. Traffic... can be terrible, depending on where you are. Bugs... buy stock in OFF. There's plenty of gun shops around. Signs matter here, except where they don't. It's way more complicated than it should be. The typical penalty is being asked to leave. Legally you can be charged with a misdemeanor that can result in HCP privileges being revoked. Don't be a jerk and you should be fine. You're allowed to keep a loaded handgun in your vehicle without a permit here, extention of castle doctrine. I'm not aware of a rifle/pistol definition other than as defined by BATFE. Expect to melt during your first few summers until you get used to it. Its the south, culture can be noticeably different. Don't tell us how much you like it here, and in the same breath, tell us how we're doing it all wrong, and you'll get along fine. Chattanooga has plenty of touristy stuff to do/see. What do you like?
  5. $14 for a liter of concentrate that will last you a lifetime? Not really. It's meant for industrial cleaning tanks that hold 400+ gallons of solution. I used it in a 3-4 gallon ultrasonic tank for a specific project that lasted about 4 months. We used less than 1/4 of the gallon of concentrate we bought and cleaned about 1000 parts about half the size of a typical pistol slide. Simple Green should work fine too. Any sort of alkaline, non-foaming soap will work.
  6. We use this in one of the ultrasonic cleaners at work. The 1 liter will last you a long time. https://www.coleparmer.com/p/cole-parmer-micro-90-cleaning-solution/504
  7. This season is going ok so far. As usual, my one jalapeño and cayenne plants have made more peppers than I know what to do with. The okra is in full swing. The cucumber was going great until the weevils got it. I pulled it up this morning and will plant another. My zucchini was great but rotted at the base all of a sudden. Got another one planted. My tomatoes are absolutely loaded with green fruit. Seems like theyre taking forever to ripen. Got 2 pickings from the green beans, pulled them up and will plant more. The snap peas didn't do much. Got barely a mouth full. The spinach was great while it lasted.... too hot for it now.

I have one of this too... it makes a huge difference. A must have. The Galloway recoil spring and guide rod are on the list.

It's not bad to shoot. You won't want to put 300 rds through it in one session, but it's not bad. The 8 rd mag helps a bit. I mostly pocket carry it but also have a belt holster made by @gjohnsoniv
  10. There's a Johnny Cash reference in there somewhere....
  11. Yep, the clip is real obvious (to anyone who knows what to look for) and the suspenders don't help. A darker belt and shirt would go a long way. Or paint the clip to match your belt. That said, I highly doubt the average sheeple would notice.
  12. I agree with this as well. Very few people would notice unless your pants are snug across your thighs.
  13. Something like this? https://www.nrastore.com/nra-tactical-phone-operator-holster
  14. Depends on how snug your pants are, but most people will think it's a phone in your pocket.
  15. Probably the PT111 G2. It's based on their 24/7 line that was developed for the military side arm contract competition maybe 10 years ago. My PT145 has been quite reliable. https://www.taurususa.com/product-details.cfm?id=890&category=Pistol
  16. My boss and his wife go to Camden a couple times a year. He speaks quite highly of it.
  17. I'd guess that generally you'll be facing your customers, so moving it around to 4:30-ish should make it nearly invisible from the front.
  18. I hit one of those spinning gopher targets 4 out of 6 shots with my P3AT at about 25 yds. I took my sweet time about it, but I did it and proved to a friend that mouse guns aren't as laughably inaccurate as some tend to think. For the OP I'd suggest one of the 4" pistols. Enough sight radius for good accuracy, but small enough for relatively easy concealment. There's plenty to choose from so pick one that you shoot well and fits your budget.
  19. 3:00 is the hardest spot to conceal with a tucked shirt. A bit further around in either direction might help.
  20. Thats not a very big gun, it oughta mostly disappear. Are you wearing the fairly trim cut clothes that seem to be the style these days? You might also just ask your coworker what he saw.
  21. For people who know what to look for, the belt clips are a dead giveaway. Other than switching to something like J hooks, there's not much you can do about it. Some pics might help.
  22. Agreed, motion sensors can be a hassle, especially with pets. I can't imagine outdoor motion sensors being at all worthwhile. My wife gets annoyed when the wind sets off the outdoor motion lights. If that included a blaring alarm, it'd get disconnected pretty quickly. My parents have indoor motion sensors now and we had them in our old house. At that time, the "solution" was to blind the lower half of the sensor so it would only see things roughly 4ft or taller. Works fine until the cat jumps on the back of the couch at 3am.
  23. Welcome. It's purdy up there.
  24. Glad it was mostly benign. I'd have my wife call it in immediately. They might not get to your house in time, but they might catch the guy at one down the road.
