The result of zero parental engagement. I'm sure the parents are "shocked". It wasn't on their bookface feed or the last episode of American idol (while the kids were in the other room watching TWD) so how could they know?

I have the big double version of these as emergency heat for the house. Only used it once, but it worked well.
-
I've used them in a garage and helping build a house in the winter. They work quite well but do generate a bit of smell. They also make a bit of noise. No idea if deer would consider it objectionable.

Welcome! Handgunlaw.us is a fairly concise summary of what most need to know. You have to get permission from the ATF prior to traveling with NFA items. I'm not aware of any local laws or prohibitons, but I'm not an NFA expert either. I'd certainly expect some excitement should you come into contact with law enforcement while transporting them. Most public ranges do not allow FA fire and will get excited about any NFA item. -
Mmmmm..... smoked bologna.

We finally made my parents watch it a few years ago. They just didn't get why we were laughing hysterically. Work, work, work, .....

I was home sick that morning and watched it on TV. Ellison Onizuka and his wife were my parents neighbors when Dad was stationed in California.

Does Rocky Horror qualify as Halloween? Apparently my wife's favorite is Hocus Pocus. It's been on tv a bunch. Again tonite in fact. Guess what we're watching? Again.

James Earl Ray escaped from Brushy Mtn prison, and Johnny Majors coached his first UT football game.

Looks like a dog to me as well. Could be one of the "wolf hybrids" that some folks think are cool.

My first date with my wife was to see the remastered version of Episode IV.

Other than taking the whole gun apart, it's not bad. There's a couple videos that show how to do it. Field strip, knock a couple pins out, pry the guts out of the frame, swap the trigger (which involves a bit of controlled hammering), then put it back together. Having 3 hands would make the reassembly easier, but I got it. Based on the videos, the full Apex kit with trigger, sear, and springs really is taking the whole gun apart. Again, not too bad other than some of the tiny pieces can be a pain if you're fumble fingered like me.

I put an Apex aluminum trigger in my shield 1.0 and that made a big improvement. I much prefer the blade style trigger safety over the hinged. I also have a Hogue slip-on grip that makes it feel better in my hand. I'd guess those 2 mods add up to nearly the difference between the 1.0 and 2.0, but the 2.0 still has the hinged trigger so I'd want to change that regardless.

Done that a few times too. We were in downtown Chattanooga and had eaten at Mellow Mushroom. As we were walking back we came across a homeless person. My oldest offered up his pizza leftovers (still warm). Proud papa moment.
-
We used to encounter a fair number of homeless people in college. We quickly adopted a standard response of, "I don't have any money, but I'll get you something from the cafeteria if you're hungry." One guy took us up on the offer. We loaded him up and he thanked us, sat down, and ate.

My mom got a Subaru Outback for the same reason.

My shingle roof was replaced due to storm damage about 5 years ago. $11k for a 2000 sqft house with high quality shingles. Powder coated metal roofing was north of $20k.

Nope, it was because the "normal" car already has the vast majority of the "police" upgrades from 20 years ago. It already meets the "police endurance" specs, hence the 100k miles of the past is 300k miles today. Police cars don't have bigger brakes because modern brakes are huge and there isn't room for anything bigger. They don't have "heavy duty" cooling systems because the normal car is designed to sit idling for hours and not over-heat. They don't have high output alternators because the normal car already has one. The base electrical loads have increased tremendously over the years.
-
Except for the Odyssey. I know several people who've had fairly serious issues (transmission, engine, HVAC, electrical gremlins) with those. My M-I-L has a CRV and it's been fine, somewhere north of 100k miles. They pay stratospheric dealer service prices that make me cringe, but the vehicle hasn't needed anything unusual.

I've never carried it without the +1 mag, but always in my pocket. It's a little thicker and a little longer, but that only matters if I'm wearing more fitted clothes.
-
Keep up with the routine maintenance and most newer cars will last a long time. 300k is the 100k of 25 years ago. Stuff wears out, but it's rare these days to see an engine failure where the engine had oil in it at the time.

Yes. It was Daimler Chrysler before that. Do what you've gotta do to survive.

I have a P3AT and an LCP custom (not the LCP II). As Mike says, functionally they're identical. The Ruger is generally nicer to look at and to shoot, but it's also slightly bigger. I have a +1 mag for the LCP which contributes to both the bigger and nicer to shoot.
