  1. And they want to go to a fully subscription based service where you don't own or install anything but a user interface. You connect to their server because that's where the software is. You have no control over what they change or when they change it.
  2. Welcome!
  3. I really like my frankenFAL. It's heavy, but heavy in the same way a BHP is heavier than a Glock. Apparently I should move the BHP further up "the list", I wasn't aware it was the issued sidearm.
  4. Good thing collusion isnt a crime anymore. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
  5. Hopefully he'll work out better than Jesse Ventura.
  6. Reminds me of this article I read not long ago.... https://www.airspacemag.com/history-of-flight/air-mail-to-baghdad-180968982/
  7. The technology exists to do that very thing today. It's not cheap, but it's there.
  8. Kia/Hyundai/Daewoo is a total knock-off company. When they did it their way, we got the masterpiece known as the Excel. It was awful and they knew it. They also knew their neighbors at Toyota made pretty good cars. So they poached a fair number of key people and adopted Toyota's quality system. It took a decade or more, but the cars got better. Once their quality wasn't bottom of the barrel, they decided they needed better styling. So they poached a few German designers and suddenly their cars started looking like Mercedes and Audis. All the safety regulations now drive the designs in the same direction, and car sales aren't real good, so no one is willing to go out on a limb style wise.
  9. I immediately think misdirection. What don't they want us to see?
  10. What Garufa said. Not sure about the light/no strikes either, unless the tip broke off the firing pin. Some surplus ammo can have pretty hard primers, so light strikes could look like no strikes. Slam fire is pretty unlikely, but there's no way you could control it if you weren't expecting it. The 3rd or 4th round would be at least a foot up. Any rounds after that will be way off target. It'll empty the 10 round magazine in just over a second.
  11. Whether you invest the time learning to use a dremel or CAD, you end up at the same place. Free CAD models are available for thousands of objects. If people choose not to pursue IP rights and give their work away, that's their choice. I fail to see the basis for these lawsuits.
  12. Metal 3D printers capable of any sort of reasonable accuracy are fairly pricey. What's the difference between a 3D printed "firearm" using carbon filled filament and an 80% lower that gets finished with a dremel?
  13. I think that's part of the issue... Judges can approve these seizures without a hearing where the defendant is represented. I'm sure they're using pre-existing court records as justification so there is some form of due process, but it's potentially a slippery slope. Time will tell if (or how much) it gets abused. Here's the legalese http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=&URL=0700-0799/0790/Sections/0790.401.html
  14. Make it twice as big as you think you need.
  15. I think I read somewhere that the Swiss army boots have exposed nail tips where the soles are attached. The drills they do have the rifle butts whacking their feet, hence all the dings at the base of the stock.
  16. Good for him. My first bike was a GS500 too, though it was a decade older. If he hasn't taken the MSF course, I highly recommended it. Budget a decent amout of cash for gear. Ride safe.
  17. Indeed. After I posted that I thought... dang it, I left out the P-51.
  18. Yep, they spent tremendous resources making some really cool stuff. Meanwhile, we kept churning out Shermans, B-17's, and PFC's. We know which worked better.
  19. Cool. I've got a K31 and was sorely tempted when various places had the whole series for sale as a group.
  20. Nice! How does the K11 compare to the K31?
  21. Perhaps Southern Tool Steel in Chattanooga or Reagan Steel here in Maryville. Both of those may have minimum order issues. The guys I know who make knives all just mail order their blanks. It's not that expensive.
  22. They're all very territorial. They chase each other around and try to dominate the feeders. That's part of the fun of watching them. Once the babies fledge, the parents wil chase their own young off feeders.
  23. We both have our HCP, though I take it (a lot) more seriously than she does. In her mind, me going to the range is just a couple more hours she's got to deal with the kids herself. We've gone together on rare occasions. The kids are getting old enough that they might get interested, so there's some hope in that direction. I'd really like to get into hunting, but it's just another hobby I feel like I don't have time or money for. Priorities, I guess.
  24. Proximity to NC where it started. They've spread more southeast than northwest.
