I did stop and browse in the Columbia location a few years ago. Nice enough and a big place for sure, I was sorely tempted to spend a lot of money. Good thing I was broke after a week at the beach.

I built a frankenFAL. It's a big, heavy gun, but it's fun.

I have a Shield and have been happy with it. More so since I installed an Apex trigger. The hinged factory trigger just didn't work well for me. Its too big for me to pocket carry, but it conceals very well in a good belt holster. As for weight, I find it's more about balance than total weight. I find carrying 2 spare mags opposite the gun less fatiguing than the gun by itself. And a good gun belt makes all the difference.

What are some products you WISH they would announce at SHOT 2019?

A Kentucky longrifle or 1874 Sharps that's affordable. -
Him and Mean Gene both passed today.

Try your local public library or a used book store. You might be surprised at what you find.

With my kids, the chromebooks are rather surprisingly not very locked down. My pc at work has more restrictions. Yes, they do a lot of work online because it costs a lot less than paper books. It's also much easier to administrate because the teacher gets a report of who's done what. The history related work my 5th grader has done has been very relevant and fact based. Some stuff I knew and some I didn't. I haven't detected any significant "spin" in the lessons, just simple facts surrounding people, places, and events. They're not presenting some of the darker moments, but I'm ok with that at his age.

Welcome!

Peated scotch has a strong burned dirt taste. There is nothing smooth about it.

It's whisky made in Scotland. Like bourbon is whisky made in Kentucky. And peated scotch is awful. That's all I know. And this

Wow. My local store has created a bourbon club. When they get limited/rare/special stuff, they do a random drawing and contact you to say you can come get one, and only one, bottle of whatever they've got. Seems the knoxville hipster whisky snobs are mucking it up for everyone.

Interesting. You must look suspicious. My wife always has her bag checked. Last time the security guy found her folding knife and said, "put that in your pocket and I'll act like I didn't see it." I've always walked right through, no questions asked.

Interesting collection. My will says my boys have to flip a coin for first pick.

I read there have been at least 6 minor quakes since that bigger one a week or two ago.

The bore axis is much lower in the Glock than the 1911. I'd bet you notice more muzzle flip than recoil.

I'll agree that a full frame steel gun is gonna have the least recoil. The older, big S&W autos are really good. Just find one that fits your hand and your eye.

appraisal of old Kentucky long rifle
peejman replied to Joe86's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Sounds like a really cool rifle. Is it flintlock or percussion? -
Apparently they've been trying, unsuccessfully. It's a small and fast moving target that's airborne in a populated area. Doesn't get much harder than that. I work on jet engines and have seen the results of several bird strikes. Sully's airplane got more than a couple geese, each engine sucked up probably half a dozen birds. The birds don't do catastrophic damage to the engine. The engine can chew up a single bird pretty easily. Multiple big birds just clog up the inlet. No air in, no thrust out. Those giant fan blades spinning at several thousand rpm will chop up a plastic drone quite readily. As you're aware, any commercial multi-engine aircraft is designed to take off and land just fine with only half its engines running.

Sounds like an afternoon's entertainment. These people aren't playing, they're absolutely doing it intentionally. The fun part is that it would take a really, really big quadrotor to do any sort of significant damage to an airliner. But even a small one with a little C4 for payload would be really bad news, which is why they shut the airport down.

Kinda makes me smile at how totally unprepared they were and how inept they've been at solving it. It completely sucks for all the passengers who're stuck.
