Keep trying the PB Blaster. Put a torch to the receiver adjacent to the screw, not the screw itself. Heat until the oil starts to smoke. Try a manual impact driver. Repeat the oil/heat/impact cycle several times. It'll come out. And don't burn the house down.

If you like them and shoot them well, keep them. I have an LCP and i like it. The convienence of a pocket pistol is hard to beat. I also have a Shield and it's significantly bigger. Some can pocket carry them, but us normal sized people can't pull that off. Or more accurately, can't pull it out. The Shield will fit in my pocket, but it's really hard to get back out. I belt carry it.

That's likely to do more harm than good. If not carefully done, it's easily possible to blow away parts of the action entirely. There's not much left in some places. Glass beads would work better to remove the corrosion than sand (AlOx) with less metal loss. That said, I'd probably do it by hand. You'll have more in the blast work than you paid for the rifle.

What several have said.... Give him a custom gift certificate and have a range date at a place with lots of rental guns available. Try everything, even guns you don't think you'll like, you might be surprised. It may likely take more than one trip to decide what you like, and that's fine. Range fees are cheap compared to trading guns 4 times until you're happy.

I used a variety of rounds, mostly its what was available and worked when I was "qualifying" that particular pistol. I've got Gold Dots in one, Federal somethingorother in another, and a coupe versions of Hornady in others. I'm less concerned with bullet terminal performance than I am with reliable function and accuracy (which is me, not the gun).

Don't go to the parts house, their sole job is to sell you stuff. Get a bearing catalog. Virtually all bearings are stock sizes. There's typically standard numbers on the inner or outer race that you can look up, or just measure the ID, OD, and thickness and find what you need.

If anything, the bullet went in one eye and out the other. There's basically no bone between the eyes, and very little tissue. The bullet didn't hit anything hard enough to expand and cause the typically massive wound cavity, it just zipped through taking the eyes and a bit of brain with it. I would have expected there to be a big chunk out of one of the trees or a divot in the ground where the bullet hit.

I have the big double version of these as emergency heat for the house. Only used it once, but it worked well.

I've used them in a garage and helping build a house in the winter. They work quite well but do generate a bit of smell. They also make a bit of noise. No idea if deer would consider it objectionable.

I'm not aware of any local laws or prohibitons, but I'm not an NFA expert either. I'd certainly expect some excitement should you come into contact with law enforcement while transporting them. Most public ranges do not allow FA fire and will get excited about any NFA item.

Other than taking the whole gun apart, it's not bad. There's a couple videos that show how to do it. Field strip, knock a couple pins out, pry the guts out of the frame, swap the trigger (which involves a bit of controlled hammering), then put it back together. Having 3 hands would make the reassembly easier, but I got it. Based on the videos, the full Apex kit with trigger, sear, and springs really is taking the whole gun apart. Again, not too bad other than some of the tiny pieces can be a pain if you're fumble fingered like me.
