Chord voicings are what I've been trying to learn more about lately. There's so many different ways to play a G chord, and figuring out which one works best in a certain place in a certain song and why is difficult and rewarding.

I played trumpet from middle school into my first couple years of college. Strangley enough, I never really learned much about music theory. I decided to get a guitar shortly after and have managed to get to a low level of mediocrity with it, but again never really learned theory, just songs. Fast forward 25 years and I started playing in the praise band at church with some real musicians. That really forced me to go learn some theory so I could (barely) keep up with them. I loved it and was having a great time playing and learning. Unfortunately it ended pretty quickly for reasons beyond our control. But I still like playing and learning. All that said.... Rick Beato, Marty Swartz, Paul Davids, Justin guitar are my go-to sources. They all have class packages you can sign up for, though I haven't. I also have the guitar music theory for dummies book, and it's not bad. I know I'd get better if I signed up for any of those classes but its a time/money commitment that's hard with busy family life.

Looks like 4H. My kids bb guns have the same double aperture sights.

Because without the management, there would be nothing left to catch/hunt in short order. Remember those old pictures of guys with hundreds of birds, fish, and dozens of deer? Remember how species were hunted to extinction? Now don't get me started on how overly complicated the TWRA license system is. It's truly ridiculous. However, game management in the bigger picture is necessary in our current world.

Blue Alert issued after one Maryville officer killed, another injured
peejman replied to Kano's topic in General Chat
They have a vehicle based system that can send the alert to all cell towers within some distance from the truck. They used it for a silver alert less than a mile from my house a few years ago. One of my former coworkers found the man behind his house. I agree that the distribution and timing often seems odd, but its probably worth the annoyance. -
Things the next generation simply won't understand

These enabled my grad school research. The data files I generated were too big for floppies and I had no other way to transfer the data from the DAQ to a computer I could analyze the data on. -
Such a good singer.... This one is haunting....

S&W has to compete with Denso, Arconic, Clayton, etc. in the local job market who pay $17-$18/hr for unskilled labor. They're getting away with paying a little less because of the cool factor about building guns. Its only a little more tham fast food pays. That cool factor will wear off for folks and they'll have continuing turnover at the lower levels. Depending on how well their quality control systems are set up, that leads to problems and inefficiencies.

Interestingly, they've found the wildlife in the contaminated area largely unaffected and flourishing.

I like most of what Mike Rowe says. I do make an effort to buy American when it's possible and reasonable. I've been shopping for tires, I'll need 2 vehicle's worth this year and I intend to buy some made in the US. Tirerack.com typically lists country of origin, though I'm not likely to buy from them. We also bought new washer/dryer a couple years ago and paid a little more for made in USA. $100 for jeans or a hoodie is pretty steep in my opinion. Other stuff, a "made in USA" tag will influence my decision.

You moved to Hancock County on purpose? I used to live in Hawkins County where the county motto is "hey, at least we're not Hancock county." Pretty country up there.

Welcome! ORSA, Windrock, Gatlinburg, Chilhowee, and John Sevier are the outdoor range/clubs I know of.

You must have looked the produce section over pretty well to find a banana that.straight. Just curious, how old are they? -
Gonna take a while to dry out enough for mountain biking here. 3-4" of rain plus all the snow melt and the creeks already look full. I'll be for all the piles of dirty snow to be gone, looks too much like Michigan for my taste.

There's been several amateur radio threads .....

Illegal to transmit without a license. Listening is fine. If society collapses, I doubt the FCC will be taking names.

I've only been there once, many years ago. Range officers were very over-bearing. I haven't heard anything about it in a long time.

Wagons FTW! Those ice dams aren't a big deal, just don't be under them when they break loose. If you had 3 ft of snow, it'd be different. Our dog usually loves the snow, he'll zoom around and get covered in it. He doesn't like this frozen crust at all, it think it hurts his feet.

How do you tell a friend he's being a Sh$thead?
peejman replied to Alleycat72's topic in General Chat
Good friends are compelled to hold each other up and call each other out as the needs arise. It may take some thought, but you can be direct without being blunt. Only you your friend's personality and your relationship, and how best to approach it. -
This. The bad actors will take whatever excuse they need to create some mayhem. They also know which metro areas will be the easiest to make a spectacle in. As with all the other media, they're out to generate clicks and sensationalism. That said, a grocery run before the election wouldn't be a bad idea.

My wife and kids had to escape for a while this afternoon. I stayed home because I've come down with a bug of some sort. Main roads seem to be fine but secondary roads are bad in all the places you'd expect. I'd hoped the warmer temps today would melt things off a bit, but I can't tell any difference. It's drizzling at little at the moment. Given the continued cold, it's gonna be mid next week before this is gone.

8" in Knoxville, 10" in Lenoir City and the street in front of my house has dried in the sun today in Maryville. Figure that one out. I finally chipped my way through the 3" of ice on my car. I'm hoping the sun melts most of it today. Still plenty cold. Forecast was for 30 today but my thermometer says 24 and it's not going to get any warmer. I think we're all getting a little stir crazy being cooped up in the house. The plan is to go to work tomorrow, but that was the plan for today too. And I have to pass through either Knoxville or Lenoir city to get there.
