Pretty valley, my wife's family has a huge farm a few miles out of town. Small town, not much there. Crossville or Chattanooga are close enough.

You've done everything I'd suggest. Can't hurt to just walk around the area. Other than that, you just have to wait. Dogs get hungry and come back eventually. This is one of my coworkers. https://www.wvlt.tv/content/news/Community-comes-together-to-find-lost-dog-504754701.html

Early Century rifles had several well documented issues. Most of those were corrected over time, so I think current rifles are ok. Zastava makes good ones. I think PSA rifles are pretty good too. You can also buy a parts kit and build it yourself, though some special tools are needed.

Right, they have to prove you obtained it illegally. Innocent until proven guilty, at least for now. If you're found to be in possession of a stolen gun with no other circumstances and you voluntarily surrender it, nothing else is likely to happen. Several years ago a friend was considering trading a gun he'd bought from an individual years before at a shop. They ran the serial number and it came up stolen. A LEO arrived, asked him a few questions, took the gun, thanked him for cooperating, and left. He never heard anything else.

Waterbeds and aquariums aren't comparable. Waterbeds may weigh 3x as much but they cover 10x the area. A 7x5 bed that weighs 1500 lbs is 42lb/sqft. Aquariums are comparable to big gun safes. The failure mode isn't punching a hole and falling through the floor. The failure mode is sag over time. Wood will continue to stretch and bend over time. Eventually, cracks will appear in Sheetrock, adjacent windows won't open, and doors won't close properly because the weight has caused things to move. Given the typically shoddy nature of modern home construction, I think it's an important consideration. But I'm anal like that. Most people get tired of all the maintenance that goes into an aquarium and get rid of it before anything really bad happens anyway.

This. The FFL retains the form 4473with the buyers name and the gun serial number, but they don't give that info to anyone... unless they surrender their license (quit the business) and are require to give their records to the ATF. If a gun is used in a crime and the police are researching it, they contact the OEM who looks up which distributor got that one. Then they ask the distributor which retailer got it. Then they ask the retailer (FFL) who bought it. Then they contact you. If you no longer have it because you sold it to another person, you tell them that. If you don't have record of who you sold it to (an individual is not required to have any records) that's the end of the line. And carrying it on your person somewhere other than your property requires a handgun carry permit (HCP). There is no requirement to conceal it, but it's generally considered to be a good idea.

No. 500lbs + 150lbs = 650 lbs total weight. 2' x 2' = 4 sqft. 650/4 = 162.5 lb/sqft. Just a bit beyond the 40 lb/sqft load rating. As @10-Ring says, there are a lot of things to consider, and there are things that can be done to make it work, but your best option is to consult a structural engineer. Im a mechanical engineer and I have a 50 gallon aquarium. It sits about a foot from an exterior wall. I have a crawl space and so I installed supports from the ground to the joists directly underneath it. .... and the idea of the tv on continuous loop does sound appealing some days.

I get the idea that if GOA, SAF, TFA, etc. could join forces they stand a chance of toppling the giant.

Modeling clay "snap cap" - Anyone ever used this idea?
peejman replied to Ronald_55's topic in General Chat
The few places I've been in wouldn't even take the trigger lock off, much less let you test fire it. -
That's sounds like a great yield to me. I froze 3 more gallon bags of tomatoes tonite, which makes about 7 total. Not bad, but not great. I'd wanted to can some but they're not coming in fast enough.
-
Is that a just a test bed, or did they intend to actually use it?

ORSA is the most common choice. Windrock is another outdoor range. Point Blank is an indoor range.

I'd choose getting whacked in the hip over the spine 10 times out of 10.

I carried small of back right up until I slipped on some ice and landed on the gun. Owwie. That was a long time ago and i still get a twinge in my back just thinking about it.

I'd think the generic double stack sleeve would fit reasonably.... but the Hogue grips have some texture as well. I have one on my Shield and it'll rub a spot on my side when I wear it all day. Ive considered undershirts, but I'm not sure how I'd manage the heat. I sweat enough as it is. Another option is to move the gun a little further around (I normally carry at about 3:00) so the butt is off my side a bit more. It a compromise between comfort and concealment.

Front Sight Focus: Is It Really Appropriate For Combatives?
peejman replied to TGO David's topic in Training Discussions
The fundamental issue to me is defining how accurate is accurate enough at the given distance. Is hitting a paper plate good enough, or is a 3x5 card more appropriate, or are we trying to put multiple bullets in the same hole? For me, "combat accuracy" with a pistol is somewhere in the paper plate to 3x5 card range. That being the standard, point shooting with some awareness of the front sight is much faster while accurate enough. I have to use the sights to achieve acceptable accuracy around 15 yds. Point shooting with acceptable accuracy at 50 yds is darn impressive. -
Yep. Winchester M12?

Bored machinists... now I understand. Certainly not.

I agree that it's probably a dog. Look for scat. Coyote scat typically has fur, bones, and berries in it. Coyotes tend to poop in the middle of trails so its usually not hard to find. You know what dog scat looks like.

I was just thinking from a ballistic perspective... velocity and energy is very similar to .50 BMG. They need to add a muzzle brake or make it a bench rest rifle. Else it's just a "hold my beer and watch this" toy.
-
So they went to a lot of trouble to reinvent a .50 BMG?

I agree except that I'd say red dots are catching and will surpass lasers before long. I've tried laser and found it very distracting. It's supposed to permit more target focus but I found myself so focused on the dot wobbling around that I wasn't paying attention to anything else. Point shooting also works best for me in self defense type shooting. I'm faster while staying accurate enough at short ranges. The transition for me is about 15 yds.
