  1. Does anyone think the number of people diagnosed is remotely accurate? A large number of those who have been confirmed to have the virus have reported relatively minor symptoms. What percentage of people who get a cold that's treatable with OTC meds see a doctor at all? I don't go to my doctor unless I've been miserable for at least a week. I'd presume I'm in the majority there. That leads me to believe that it's way more widespread than is being reported. Which also means the death rate isn't nearly as high as currently stated.
  2. Good to know that my personal experience, and the experience of several people I know is pure unadulterated bs. People and birds have very different physiology, hence different tolerance and reaction to lead poisoning. Given that your average hawk weighs 3 lbs or less, it's reasonable to assume the bird might be fractionally more sensitive to lead than a human based simply on body weight. Yes, we nearly hunted bison to extinction. Numbers of the vast majority of animals plummeted during that time as well. But let's not learn from any of that if it's inconvenient. Most raptors don't swallow rocks, they're able to digest the soft parts and then cast (throw up) a pellet of the indigestible parts (fur, bones, etc.). Swallowing rocks is much more common in birds that eat grass and bugs and hence spend much more time on the ground.
  3. Sounds like a Steel Panther song title.
  4. Google has educated me. I first thought it strange that the Finnish army would use a Galil. But it seems that's an likely RK62 (which I'd never heard of) on which the Galil is based. Interesting.
  5. Partial trade? Can't hurt to ask. I took a rifle in partial trade for a motorcycle several years ago.
  6. I doubt you'll be able to do much by modifying the disconnector or notch without compromising its function. Changing springs might be a better solution. You might look carefully and see if polishing any of the mating surfaces might make it run a little smoother.
  7. That's not much room to work. How far does the disconnector have to move before it disconnects?
  8. I've worn one of his daily for about 10 years. It's still in good shape.
  9. Does the slide move any distance rearward before contacting the disconnector, or does it lock into place just as the slide closes?
  10. Could you re-shape the disconnector and/or the notch to make it move over a greater length of travel? Could you install a lighter spring so it's easier to move?
  11. Glad you're ok. I may know someone in the damaged apartment complex. A former coworker said the roof got peeled off his apartment and his truck got smashed, but they're ok and staying with friends until it gets sorted out.
  12. Prices are inflated because its gatlinburg. That said, good local places ... Howard's Steakhouse, Pancake Pantry (cash only!), The Park Grill, Best Italian Cafe, Donut Fryer, The Peddler, ...
  13. In much happier news and many years after the WTC event, my oldest boy was born.
  14. I bet she was sweet as sweet can be the year before.
  15. It was probably road kill.
  16. The original New York reload. I either read or heard that crew served rifles was developed by riflemen in the Revolutionary War. The best shot would climb the tree. Two other guys would sit at the base of the tree and reload. Loaded rifles were tossed up, empty rifles dropped down.
  17. I don't see any difference between civil and criminal liability in this case. Stealing is stealing. Whether or not I choose to secure my property in no way justifies its theft. I'm talking adults, or at least people cognizant enough to know that stealing is wrong and guns can be dangerous.
  18. Sorry, east TN is full. Blount County has a pretty good home school network. My kids are in BHEA and Classical Conversations.
  19. I don't see anything here that gets me to a place where my not making it hard to steal something is my fault. Title 39 - Criminal Offenses Chapter 13 - Offenses Against Person Part 1 - Assaultive Offenses § 39-13-103 - Reckless endangerment. Universal Citation: TN Code § 39-13-103 (2014) (a) A person commits an offense who recklessly engages in conduct that places or may place another person in imminent danger of death or serious bodily injury. (b) (1) Reckless endangerment is a Class A misdemeanor; (2) Reckless endangerment committed with a deadly weapon is a Class E felony; (3) Reckless endangerment by discharging a firearm into a habitation, as defined under § 39-14-401, is a Class C felony, unless the habitation was unoccupied at the time of the offense, in which event it is a Class D felony; (4) In addition to the penalty authorized by this subsection (b), the court shall assess a fine of fifty dollars ($50.00) to be collected as provided in § 55-10-412(b) and distributed as provided in § 55-10-412(c). I fully understand and agree with the idea that one should be responsible and protective of their things. But the idea of personal negligence has gotten way out of hand. Stealing is both a crime and a sin.
  20. So if you left $20 on a table at work, it's your fault if I steal it? I'm not following this line of thinking that criminals stealing things that aren't locked up or nailed down is the owner's fault.
  21. Correct, cars aren't equal to guns. Far more people are killed by/in cars than guns. And lots of newer cars can be stolen with only a laptop. Not only would the thief have to break into my house, they'd also have to break into my gun cabinet, and then they'd have to disengage the safety prior to discharge. But it would still be my fault?
  22. My car is locked and gets stolen anyway. The thief then runs a red light and plows into a bus load of kids. I'm liable for injuries to the children because someone stole my car?
  23. Looks like the girl wth the pistol is about to shoot the instructor in the butt, and the girl behind her thinks it's gonna be funny.
