  1. Good riddance. I hope Trump permitted the local theater commanders to execute the strike under their own authority. It appears to have been very well planned, I doubt this was a target of opportunity. All the talk about stiring the pot... well, yeah. You'd think they'd know Trump is both good at that and enjoys it by now, but I'm probably giving them too much credit. I'm sure this will generate some reprisal attempts on civilian targets because thats how Iran rolls. I hope the powers that be are able to stop them.
  2. This call an FFL and ask. Some will accept firearms from an individual in another state, some only accept from another FFL, its their prerogative. You may have to call a few to find one wiling to help. I don't think it was a straw purchase as they did not Intentionally avoid a background check on the intended recipient. However, ignorance of the transfer process is no excuse.
  3. They're ok in the smaller cars. The Murano is just too heavy for it.
  4. Getting old ain't for sissies. Glad you're still with us.
  5. Call TDOS and ask..... "An out-of-state relative wants to gift me a handgun, how do we do that?" I suspect you can do it at a TN FFL, but both parties must be present.
  6. Given recent events, I'm curious how this would apply to church security teams. No uniform?
  7. Welcome! Theres the TWRA John Sevier range in knoxville. https://www.tn.gov/content/tn/twra/hunting/firing-ranges.html#sevier
  8. Next time, stop what you're doing, put the guns down, unload them, and wave the cops over for a chat. Ask them what they think of your shooting space, do they suggest any improvements, would they like to shoot any of your guns ? A simple, friendly conversation can go a long way.
  9. Winter is hiking season in the Smokys.... no bears, no bugs, no snakes, no foliage, and no tourists. There's plenty of trails where you'll never see a soul.
  10. A .22 rifle is a .22 rifle, no change of ammunition with change that. I bought a break barrel air rifle for just this purpose. It's listed at 1200fps. The trigger is pretty awful, but it does great on beer cans at 30yds and squirrels at 30ft.
  11. There's a bunch of ways to do it depending on how you make the joints. I'd think all you'd really need is a dado blade, but even that isn't really necessary.
  12. As with other things, light is the enemy of darkness. I'd put powerful motion lights around the house and on the typical approach routes. I've never seen one with a strobe function.
  13. That's the trick, most people don't leave their guns out in the sun all day.
  14. Before she retired, mom used to have to honk the horn and flash the lights to get the deer to move off the driveway in the early morning. Now she just complains about them eating her flowers.
  15. Awesome is as awesome does I always say. Very cool.
  16. Looks like a cigar box. I've heard you can get those free from cigar stores.
  17. My first pistol is also my only true full size, a Ruger P85. All the others are smaller. My current idea is for my next purchase to be a what I'd call a modern compact as it really isn't much smaller physically, it's just thinner and lighter than a full size.
  18. There's an axiom that reads something like ... "code making technology will always lag behind code breaking technology".
  19. Where is your finger relative to the hinge? I found that my natural finger position was right on the hinge pivot instead of below it. Sometimes it wouldn't pivot fully and caused me to jerk the trigger. I installed an Apex bladed safety trigger and the problem went away.
  20. That's quite a blessed week.
  21. I suspect we'll join them sooner than we'd like.
  22. Same story nationwide. One of the reasons why the electoral college was created.
  23. Basically the same. Wipe off residue with a minimal amount of solvent on a patch, wipe with a very lightly oiled patch, then dry with a clean patch. I like them clean and dry. Plastic followers shouldn't need any lubricant and it tends to attract grit. I've never had issues with corrosion.
