Truth. When I do dumb things and hurt myself now, there's usually a sigh followed by... well, thats gonna hurt forever now.

Got My Old Homelite XL Chainsaw Running Again !
peejman replied to billt's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I fired up ye ole EZ for some tree trimming this afternoon. Started on the 5th pull and ran just fine. I dont recall using it last year so it may have been 2 years since I last used it. -
Yes, early Fleetwood with Peter Green was very much a blues band. It changed considerably when he left. It's funny though as I always thought that song was kind of odd for Priest. But it makes sense after hearing the original.
-
I only recently discovered that Priest covered this song. I thought they wrote it.

When in doubt, always call it in. Better to be the one calling than the one being called about. The caller is the de facto victim and the person being called about is the de facto suspect.

A friend has 3 boys and we have 2, all similar ages. His wife says when boys get together, the collective IQ doesn't multiply, it divides. That's funny but also not entirely untrue.

I've no idea how people manage tiny trailers they can't see. I should probably learn to use my mirrors more than I do, but my utility trailer is 4ft wide and hard to see in the side mirrors until it's already headed the wrong way. Its got a rear ramp gate that I can more easily see when looking over my shoulder.
-
When the wheelbase of the tow vehicle is the same or longer than the distance from the rear axle to the trailer axle (essentially the trailer wheelbase), it can be very hard to back up. Short tow vehicle + long trailer = easy. Long tow vehicle + short trailer = hard. Could also be that the hitch on the Tundra is off center, but I wouldn't expect that. Distance from the rear axle to the hitch ball also affects the trailer. A long rear overhang makes backup more difficult.

I'll ask a silly question... why would one remove the buffer tube to clean it? I don't shoot nearly as much as some, but removing the buffer tube for cleaning has never crossed my mind.
-
You mean it won't close fully? Can't push the pins back in? Remove the BCG and try again.

With snubby revolvers, sometimes the muzzle/cylinder blast is as or more objectionable than the recoil. The first thing we rented when shopping for my wife was a. 38 snubby. She hated it, and so did I. Not horrible outdoors, but it was terrible at an indoor range. I found the 4" .357 nicer to shoot than the .38 snubby.

Rare to see him in color. Nice.

We lost our 17 yr old dog from arthritis, epilepsy, and CHF a few years ago. Thankfully our vet experience was ok. This little guy showed up about month ago.

Have someone else do it. Longer trailers are easier than short ones.

Thats a good one. Be even better if it came with the voice. I like this one...

Good on your son for providing help. I hope he made sure the threat was gone before rushing over there. Domestic disputes are usually the worst kind.

Wow. That's a lot of good movies and TV shows. Might be fun to see who can name them all.

There's talk of masks becoming a requirement here. If that happens, I'll have to think of the most obnoxious design I think I can get away with.

And grits.

This. I have no issue with 380's, but I also understand it's limitations. It'll blow holes in 2x4 at close range and that's good enough for me. It's a "get off me" gun. While I have hit those spinning gopher targets at 25yds with my P3AT, I don't think of it being useful at more than 10 yds. The subcompact 380s really aren't much fun to shoot, so I wouldn't even go there with someone who's recoil sensitive. The bigger ones are far better in that regard.

I found a replacement ignition module on ebay. It wasn't exactly cheap, but it worked fine. I've also had to replace the recoil rope a time or two. Don't let that spring get away!!! We heated with wood when I was a kid and my saw cut most of it. I just have a fire pit now and use it for trimming or cutting smaller trees for folks. My carb cleaning trick when not in a hurry is to fill it with straight liquid carb cleaner. Sea Foam or Berryman are my preference. Then just as above, let it soak and pull it through over a few days. Works well on 4 stroke stuff too. I think these old saws run so well because the jets are bigger to deal with the heavier oil mix. My Super EZ runs on 35:1. The 50:1 that newer saws use means all the holes are smaller and hence clog easier. But always only use 100% gas. Ethanol wrecks a carb. -
What are the rules for shooting on your own property?

If you shoot outside regularly, you'll make friends with the cops whether you want to not. -

Yes, any 16" chain should work fine. Mine is a 16 as well, though I think it started life as a 14". I've got 5 chains for it, but I'm down to the last sharp one. The local co-op has a machine that will sharpen a chain for couple bucks. -

I've got a Homelite Super EZ from about 1980, it still runs strong. I had to replace the ignition box a couple years ago, and it's probably on its 4th bar. -
Good ole George. NSFW
