My understanding is a positive test is functionally forever. That's how vaccinations work. Unless you're meaning an antibody test. But I would still think a positive antibody test would mean you're now an asymptomatic carrier. I'm not 100% sure how that works, but once you've been exposed, that's a positive test. Be that C19, measles, polio, etc.

Mine is single story, walkable pitch, and not especially complex. They stripped it bare, new felt, new plumbing and ridge vents, new ice shield, architectural shingles. Locally recommended roofer had 8 guys and it was done in 1 day. I did have a leak a few years later where a nail popped through the ice shield in a valley. Thankfully it came through in the garage so the interior damage was minimal. I called the guy back and he came out promptly and fixed it at a friendly price. If you've got stuff stored in your attic, cover it with a drop cloth before they start. Everything will get covered with debris from the work.

What they said. I also got lucky and several years ago storms finished off what was left of my roof, so insurance covered it. $11k for shingles on my 2000 sqft house. Metal was $25k, I couldn't afford that. Two layers of shingles are OK, some will do 3 layers but that's getting awfully heavy. If you can see the sheathing from the attic and its OK, a 2nd layer is a lot less work if DIY'ing. You can also install metal over the existing shingles. Lots of construction going on so you may have to wait a while to get a good roofer

Yep, we had a bit of frost this morning as well. Supposed to be a little colder tomorrow morning too. My wife and youngest have been out covering all the stuff in the garden. Hopefully there won't be any damage.

I got my wife a Samsung tablet for Christmas. It's the smaller 8" version and it works fine.

Just keep in mind that most of these critters are nature's little garbage disposals. I've got kids and definitely remove wasps and yellow jackets that show up, but I try to leave the rest alone. The bees help my veggies grow.

Actually it did. The demand for higher installation torque and consumer usage is what has driven the design changes. Consumers don't want their tools to wear out quickly while industry is happy to replace tools if the cost of the tool is less than the cost to rework the product.

I agree, but its interesting how thats exactly the reverse of the original intent of the Phillips head. The Phillips head design was intended to be a torque limiting device. The driver was supposed to be softer and cam-out to prevent over tightening and damaging the fastener... it was easier to replace the tool in a production environment.

The machinists at work have a couple of those tiny torx sets that I've borrowed to work on my knives. I don't recall the brand, but the holder looked like that and they worked fine.

The worst part is that none of them would agree that they made poor decisions. They're just doing what they've been taught, that's how you run a business in America. And it's not their money or livelihood at stake. Their golden parachute is secure, so even if it did fail, their personal loss is minimal. Most of these CEO types have zero personal motivation beyond power and influence. They're a contractor, a hired gun. Win or lose, they're richly rewarded.

Exactly. JIT isn't applicable to everything. Business schools teach one thing, how to run a widget factory. If your factory makes widgets and demand rarely changes, the method they learned works fine and you don't need any inventory. When you don't make widgets, demand is variable, and some items have long lead times, having some stock of hard to get things can save you lots if pain down the road. But they're not taught to think that way. Month to month is about as good as it gets. And this is why I disagree with the bailouts to some degree. Businesses must be allowed to fail, even big ones. It's the only way they'll learn. I like to say we don't have a 5 year plan, or even a 5 month plan. We have a 5 hour plan. We have production meetings twice a day, and there's about 5 hours of useful work that gets done between them. Its absurd.

Kroger here had a few packs of Charmin yesterday and food city had a bunch of several varieties early this week. My wife got some from target last weekend, so we're good for another month.

I've been grocery shopping several times over the past month. What Kroger doesn't have, food city usually does. We've done the buy online and pick up from both places and it's been ok. Seems to depend on who gets your order. One lady was great... texting pictures of the shelves for alternatives when they didn't have something, asking questions, super helpful. Other times not so much. Can't really complain though. The meat and paper products are still picked over, but everything else has been fine.

If you can't shoot it, what's the point?

I estimated poorly and they're 2500 miles away instead of 3000. Is that the source of your confusion?
