Auto Manufacturers pushing synthetic oil? (I’m a bit long winded today)
peejman replied to Randall53's topic in General Chat
To this comic I would say no, the best way to tighten an oil filter is to not remove it. That's what most of the former jiffy lube employees I know have told me.... -
Restaurant that serves alcohol current carry laws?

Who hurts more people, drunk shooters or drunk drivers? -
My wife planted some tomatoes and peas. We've got some seedling peppers and cucumbers that'll go in the ground in a little while.

Dark oil doesn't necessarily mean its ability to lubricate the engine has been degraded. It means its doing its job and picking up contaminants. -
That might be a laurel oak tree. Its not a sweet gum, there would be porcupine eggs everywhere if it were.

I know a guy who knows a guy who has a tank...

This and what @MacGyver said are why you should use synthetic if you're letting the vehicle's computer tell you when to change the oil. The computer algorithm is based on the performance of the OEM oil, which is likely synthetic. If you're changing oil on the traditional fixed mileage number, 5000 or less, then conventional oil is fine assuming the car isn't turbocharged. Turbo cars are MUCH harder on oil. They need full synthetic and/or frequent oil changes. And like @runco, I DIY oil changes. Its not hard and it's a good opportunity to inspect the underside of the car. Ive found several minor issues that way that could have become bigger problems later on. I also know a few guys who've worked at quick oil change places and what they tell me makes me avoid them whenever possible. -
This. Though I'd presume those William Henry knives are effectively one of a kind.

Quotes from Kelly's Heros (among a bunch of other movies) are in the normal conversation rotation between my wife and I.

We have a ball nutso dog as well. I rotate between the ball chucker, hitting them with a baseball bat, and hitting them with my golf clubs. Exercise for him, practice for me.

If you're shipping the ammo, I'd consider including the guns as ones not much good without the other. Need to contact the shipper and confirm they'll do it. I don't think the airlines care that its an NFA item, review their policy to confirm.

Shooting sling or carrying strap?

The light house is neat and the golf hall of fame is there, should you be interested in that.

Magic Chef was a Maytag brand in the 90's. I used to work at the plant in Cleveland where they were made.

Like a lot of other things, there's only a few companies who make appliances. Most make multiple brands. A little digging will tell you who makes what and which brands to buy. GE used to be the company who made everything themselves, but not anymore.

So this gizmo takes the output from the turn table and gives you a headphone jack with a couple knobs to tweak the sound? Nifty.

Y'all might like this book... https://www.amazon.com/Mayday-Aircraft-Crashes-Great-Smoky/dp/1572331542 Interestingly, Jeff Wadley was my wife's youth pastor when she was in high school.

A guy who sits next to me at work is an AT maintainer. He was up there a week or 2 ago, got some pics and was identifying engine parts. There's a lot more of it left than I would have expected.

We had one last week, I had it very much the worst. After about 30 hrs with nothing to eat, I passed out while dry heaving into the bathroom sink. The noise of me hitting the floor at 4am woke my wife up. That was a fun conversation. I finally started to feel better later that day. Not the most fun I've had since college.

I like to hike, but don't get to do it as much as I'd like. I'm also much more of a day hiker, my feet won't tolerate 20 mile days. It's also getting toward the end of hiking season... too many bugs, snakes, and people.

Welcome!

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Welcome to police work 101.

Journalism is dead. That whole community seems to have fallen into the abyss. I wonder if Knox County intends to address the problems or take a nod from Cook County and just ignore it? I can't imagine Jacobs would cop to that, but time will tell.

I know a few who do that, the guy you got your dog from and a couple others. Its a business for him and a hobby for the others. They make some cash as they have fairly high rent dogs, registered dogs. The puppies go for 2-3x what you paid. They also have kids to help with the work. It'll occupy nearly all your time for 8 weeks. Mallagators can be difficult to home. Not everyone has the time, place, or disposition to deal with one. Without papers, I think youd be hard pressed to make much money.

You cannot drive on a sandy, rocky road/trail with 2 flat tires, especially when they're both on the same side. A jacked up Jeep won't get far, and a stock Subaru sure won’t either. They were experienced in the back country and had supplies. They knew where they were going and left a note to tell others. Perhaps they though they would meet others there.
