Greetings!

Me too, though mine is a Leatherman. I use the pliers and scissors more than anything else. I ponder getting a generic pouch to carry a spare mag and small flashlight (dig the Maratac!), but haven't convinced myself yet.
-
The Smartcarry sounds like a pretty good option. Probably as easy if not easier access than in a pocket. I've considered getting a generic nylon belt holster from Lowes or similar to carry my flashlight and spare mag in, but I'm yet to convince myself that I want that stuff hanging off my belt. I subscribe to the KISS concept and more stuff is just more stuff...

Why would you want to eject a full mag? And why would a trigger job have any effect on whether or not a mag will eject?
-
That's why I keep mine in the washer instead.

I carry it loose in my front pocket with my keys. Cell phone, chapstick, and loose change in the other front pocket. I carry the pistol IWB with my small leatherman directly in front of the holster for a little extra visual coverage. I've tried it with the mag in the side pockets in my "carpenter's" jeans, but it's really hard to get to with the other hand. Not real easy opposite hand access in a front pocket, but I found the leg pocket was worse. YMMV.

Beltman belt here too. Worth the $$ and the wait.

Vehicle carry options separate from your EDC rig?
peejman replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Here's a point to ponder... Think very carefully about what might happen if you were in a wreck. Stuff inside the car can fly fast enough to break windows during a simple fender-bender. The holster needs to be securely mounted and with some type of strong retention feature for the gun. I suspect that's the last thing you'd like tumbling around in the car (other occupants excluded). -
That's the funniest part of the whole post. No alcohol on a Russian sub?

I got pulled over for 67 in a 55 early on a saturday morning in Monroe county a few weeks ago. The officer was heading the other way and I knew he got me so I pulled over when I saw his brake lights. When he walked up I handed him my license and permit. He asked where my gun was and I told him. He said "ok". He asked if I knew why he stopped me and I said because I was going too fast down that hill... oops. Honestly, I really wasn't paying attention to my speed until I saw him. We chatted for another minute or so, he told me to slow down a bit, and let me go. He was very courteous and professional. I was happy.

If you use the blue loctite, no. A few whacks and it should come out. If not, apply a bit of heat. If you use the red loctite or metal epoxy, yes. Drilling it out may be your best option.

Toyota Suspends Sales of 8 Models After Accelerator Pedals Keep Sticking
peejman replied to G27's topic in General Chat
The irony of that statement is this... has anyone here personally experienced one of these catastrophic failures? No? How about seen one? Didn't think so. In the grand scheme of things, it's exceedingly rare. Mr. LaHood has waffled on this topic several times... clearly he (or whoever's putting words in his mouth) doesn't have a clue. I wouldn't be surprised if Toyota sued for libel. -
Another recommendation for the P-series. I have an old, beat-up P85 MKII that shoots great. I rarely ever clean it (other than wiping the residue off), and it's never malfunctioned.
-
I also have a Crossbreed Supertuck, it's comfy though I rarely ever "tuck it". A similar option is the MTAC from Comp-tac. I've no experience with them, but I read lots of postive comments about the Highnoon holsters as well.

Nice pics!

As stated, there aren't any nice, clean places near the Comedy Catch. Depending on your taste and budget, I'd stay at one of the chain hotels near the mall or downtown. The area near the aquarium is pretty nice now. If you stay downtown, eat at the Big River Grill. The aquarium itself is excellent if you're interested in that sort of thing.

+1. The wood stock on my SKS is in good shape and I think they look best with it. But I've considered buying another one with a crappy stock specifically to outfit it with all the "tacti-cool" junk. But then I think I'd rather have an AR.... ... oh and aren't there some C&R issues with modifying an SKS? I seem to recall reading something about that, but don't remember any details.

I thought the price tag was a malfunction. It made me malfunction anyway... $1200, yikes!

Tons of good info for her here: http://www.corneredcat.com/

Crocus cloth aka emory cloth. You should be able to find it at auto parts places in the body work section or at hardware stores (lowes, home depot, etc...). Hobby Lobby might have it as well. Should be at least 800 grit. The higher the grit #, the less abrasive it is. Crocus cloth is usually brown and has so fine a grit that it doesn't feel like sandpaper.

You should get her whatever gun she picks out. Take her to a range (or three) that rents handguns and let her try out various models. Talk her into trying out a couple that she's not initially interested in. I did that with my wife and her final decision wasn't even under consideration at first. The American Rifleman magazine did a review of 9 different .380's. I seem to recall all of them having one issue or another. Personally, I'd go with 9mm at a minimum. YMMV.

Liberty Centurion Safe sold at Lowes

Ever see grains of rice in a salt shaker at a restaurant? It's in there to absorb moisture so the salt doesn't clump. Both salt and rice (and sugar, and flour, and...) will absorb water (hygroscopic is the $3 word for it) but rice absorbs it faster. I'd not heard of oatmeal, but that makes sense too. -
Leaving a round in the chamber???
peejman replied to JReedEsq's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Some folks claim you should fire and replace your personal defense rounds with new annually, just to be sure they're "fresh". It certainly won't hurt the gun. Honestly, I don't. Ammo sits for decades w/o deteriorating. I've also got a toddler so my PD gun(s) stay locked up in the safe when I'm not there. I take one out when I go to bed and put it back up when I leave for work. As for the corrosive ammo.... no, just sitting UNFIRED in the gun won't hurt anything. It's the powder inside the cartridge that's corrosive. You must clean the rifle thoroughly after shooting corrosive ammo. It's not like battery acid that'll eat it up quickly, but the powder residue will cause some corrosion if left for extended periods. -

I use a 1 lb renewable bag in my rifle safe and a few of the small disposable packets in my pistol safe. The 1lb bag came from where I work, I'm not sure where you'd buy one. The small packets can be had online or at places like Hobby Lobby. Honestly, an open container of dry rice or salt will do the same thing. Just don't spill it!
