  1. This is the way to go if you ride a lot. Typically, two changes done yourself will pay for the tools. It's really not that hard to do. If you can use a tape measure, you can put the rear tire back on straight. It's easy. I know of several people in East TN who change tires for ~$25 off the bike. In the past I've bought tires online from Welcome to Southwest Moto Tires. Now I have a local place where I can get them for only a few $$ more. I also used to ride a GS500, though mine was the old, pre-body work version. Definitely a fun little bike. Check out GStwin GS500 Page.
  2. Mistake #1 - You shut the mower off. Never do that. Let them yell at you over the noise. Asking them to help is another good tactic. As for payback for your neighbor, I have lots of good ideas. The first one is to walk over and ask nicely not to do that again.
  3. I think this is a great idea. Here's why... One of my uncles did this with Mario Andretti many years ago. My uncle found an old photo he'd take of Mario driving a sprint car on a dirt track in SC in the 60's. He made two copies of the photo, framed one, and sent both to Mario's office. He enclosed a letter saying when the photo was taken and asked that if Mario would autograph the photo and return it, Mario could keep the framed one. About 2 months later my uncle got a box in the mail with Andretti Racing as the return address. It contained a hand written letter from Mario thanking my uncle for bringing back such wonderful memories. He said the photo was immediately put on the wall in his office. The box also contained the autographed photo (hanging on my uncle's wall now) and one of Mario's driving suits (he was racing CART with son Michael at the time), boots, and gloves. Cool stuff. Hope your friend recovers quickly.

    Dishwasher Help

What Jack said. *gasp* Did I really mean that? Copper is the best (most durable) option. Next to that is finding a braided steel line that'll fit. If you get the vinyl lines, best sure you get one that's several inches too long. Hot water will make them shrink... ask me how I know. Use the feet and make sure it's level. Shim if necessary. The anchors are mainly for kids crawling on it (mine does).
  5. ANSI is the American National Standards Institute. Z87.1 is their standard for eye/face protective equipment. -2003 is the release year (the latest of this standard is 2010). Look for a "Z87-2" marking on the lens or frame, this states the glasses meet the "high impact" requirements, which is what you'd want for shooting glasses. http://www.aosafetysrx.com/aosafetysrx.com/pdf/Ansi%20Summary%202003%20Final%207-03.pdf
  6. With glass lenses, I definitely would NOT use them shooting (or mowing the lawn, or anywhere else they might get whacked).
  7. Do you know what the lenses in your glasses are made of? Given that you say you can pass a DL eye exam w/o your glasses tells me your correction is quite small. That being the case, your glasses are not likely to have the fancy polycarbonate lenses that safety glasses have. If you like wearing glasses, prescription safety glasses is the way to go. Your place of business might subsidize the cost of prescription safety glasses, assuming you're required to wear safety glasses at work. You may also be able to get a few pairs of disposable contact lenses to use for shooting, then regular shooting glasses will suffice. I wear contacts (~20/400 w/o) and regular shooting glasses.
  8. I've rented handguns at several ranges and they've only made a photo-copy of my DL, no TICS. I believe there's a form with that question "Can you legally own a firemarm?" as a part of the paperwork you have to fill out.
  9. I've done that a time or two, the reaction is kinda fun to watch. I even let a vacuum salesman in the house once. I was cleaning a few guns on the kitchen table. I said ..."go ahead with your sales pitch while I finish up here...". He shook like a leaf for a few minutes, but I'll give him credit for making it all the way through his talk. The conversation ended with me telling him.... "look, if I'm going to spend that much on something that sucks, it's d_mn sure going to suck more than my carpet."

  11. Thanks for the info. Like I said, I wasn't sure which bill was which.
  12. The only risk is burning your fingers when you pick it up.
  13. Care to provide a source for this information? I've found a bit of conflicting info and I'm not sure exactly which bill is which, but best I can tell Wamp voted against both the bank bail out (Reinvestment & Recovery) and the (Obama-care) healthcare bills. Project Vote Smart - Representative Zach Wamp - Voting Record Who voted for stimulus bailout? Senate and House HR1
  14. Just give a few of them to me, I'm well below my insurance limit.
  15. I used to travel fairly regularly for work, sometimes internationally. I always used zip-ties to keep zipper pulls together and occasionally to lock a tool box. I always left more zip-ties in the bag/box. While my bags didn't get searched alot, I'd occasionally find the paper TSA put in my bag stating they'd searched it. TSA always (and even customs in Italy once) put more zip-ties back on ,which I appreciated. I put the zip-ties on not super tight so they're relatively easy to remove. YMMV.
  16. What they said. Check the airline's web site or call for info. Pack it in a lockable container and declare it when you walk up. Hope you get an inspector that doesn't get excited about such things. Use zip-ties to lock the case. Put a handful of new zip-ties in a bag in the case. Most agents are courteous enough to re-lock the case with the provided zip-ties. Pad-locks can get caught on the baggage conveyors and tend to get cut off if someone feels the need to inspect it later, particuarly if you're changing planes somewhere.
  17. Sounds like you're making good progress. Glad it's going well for you. I think a lot of us are a bit envious of that "readjustment".
  18. I have a friend with a PhD in Chemistry to which I direct such questions. I know what covalent and ionic bonds are, and I know what double and triple bonds are, but I don't recall the "Lewis Structure". .... Ok - Google has educated me on the Lewis Structure, which seems simple enough assuming you know all that electron valence stuff, which I don't really remember. I assume this is for school? Professor/Instructor of no help? Graduate assistants? Classmates (study groups?) Google?
  19. A friend had trouble with my PT145 that I think was due to limp wristing. I've never had a problem with it or any of my other guns (off-hand included), though I can't say I've ever intentionally limp wristed them to find out. My wife hasn't had problems with them either, though she doesn't shoot a lot.

    First gun question

As with most all of the "first gun" threads.... find a range near you that has handguns for rent. Try them all. While Glocks tend to be the , lots of people like other makes better (like me). There's a wide variety available in the $500 range.

  22. Actually, I spent most of the time chasing my 2 yr old around the house. I did see Kobyashi's charge on the last couple laps, and it was quite impressive. Though instead of following that and seeing his last turn heroics live, we got to watch Vettle cruise around and wave at the crowd. That's what bugs me to death. There will be some awesome battle raging back in the field in the closing laps and the TV people think we'd rather watch the leader ride around on auto-pilot and win by 15 seconds.
  23. Bummer.
  24. Did you catch any of the Austrailian V8 Supercars races following F1? Best (car) racing on TV. The leaders do tend to disappear, but instead of having to watch one car ride around by itself (F1), they actually show the guys racing hard back in the pack.

The P-series pistols are hard to beat. My old P-85 still out-shoots me.
