Another +1 for Beltman. Not cheap, but worth it.

I have a PT145 and really like it. It's a tad thinner than the XDSC, but otherwise very similar size. I think the Kahr PM45 is about the smallest .45 you'll find. If you're willing to change to 9mm or .40S&W, there are smaller options. I'm not a very big person but find the really small subcompacts difficult to shoot.

Most home improvement stores will have various grades of scotchbrite. It's color coded with green being the most abrasive and blue being the least. Red and gray are in the middle (I think). You'll have a difficult time replicating the OE finish or machine marks on the slide. There will likely be an obvious polished spot. You may want to blast the slide with a very light media (walnut shells, plastic media, etc.) to restore the uniform finish.

This is correct, do not use steel wool. Scotchbrite, emory cloth, crokus cloth, polishing compound, .... any of those will work.

The one out 11E toward Jonesborough. It had just opened when I moved.

Use only a very sharp drill bit or the punch shown above. A dull drill will grab it and tear the leather. edit... a shoe repair or alterations shop would have the proper tools and likely do it for a modest fee.

I wouldn't be surprised to see no ammo. Some have it, some don't. When I lived in the Tri-Cities, the "new" walmart in Johnson City didn't have rifles or ammo. On a more positive note, the walmart on 411 in Maryville had more ammo on the shelves last week than I've seen in ages. Still no .45 tho...

I think you can go to the local DMV and get a temporary tag. I'd guess most LEO's would be understanding if you get stopped driving w/o one and have all the sale paperwork. I wouldn't use a tag off another vehicle.

Another +1 for Bill's Outpost. I bought a recevier from an individual in CA via another forum and he handled the transfer. (Gunny's told me it was illegal ). Smooth transaction and while waiting on the TICA to come back, I noticed he's got excellent prices on handguns, Hornady Critical Defense .45 ammo, and he's got that XD .45 Compact I've been wanting for a while.

+1 to the above. Don't sell one unless you're having some major financial issues. You'll regret it. If you do sell, do it FTF and request the option to buy it back if the new owner decides to sell.

While I think what happened is clearly wrong, technically the students' clothes might be considered a violation of the US Flag Code. So when you see sporting event winners running a victory lap with the Flag draped over their shoulders, that's a violation. Well intended, but a violation.

Maybe I'm just lazy, but I don't like the idea of switching barrels back and forth. These shotguns are pretty inexpensive so just get two. If you get deeper into shooting clays, I suspect you'll quickly decide the pump gun isn't the proper tool and want to upgrade anyway.

Nathan's hot dogs are great as are those bought at stadiums or race tracks. We use brat's a lot at home... yum. I picked mustard, but it generally goes like this.... Bun, dog, spicy mustard, chili, cheese, and slaw. If there's no chili ( ) I use mustard and pickle relish. Mayo on a hot dog? Freaks.

Home defense, yes. Clays, no.

As for replacing the sight... dunno. Should be pretty easy. Rifle sights are for rifles. (Technically a slug gun with a rifled barrel is a rifle). Folding stocks are good as long as you never fold them.

Speaking of elections... does anyone know of a website (or other single source of info) that has a listing of candiates for the various offices and their positions on important topics or other general campaign info? I'd love to find something comprehensive and coherent. Particularly for the local goobers. I know next to nothing about these people and my inability to find any worthwhile info is frustrating.

You're not safe if you live on a hill, unless you live at the top. A former coworker lived on the side of a mountain. Heavy rains caused a 10 ft retaining wall adjacent to his house/driveway to collapse. The resulting mud slide knocked down his garage doors and deposited about 2ft of muck in his basement. His insurance (Farm Bureau) refused to pay claiming it was flood damage. They did replace his roof and 3 windows that were damaged by hail in the same storm, then promptly cancelled his policy.

If "the plan" includes anything that will get him out of the news, I'm all for it.

Heat the slide a bit to get the old one out. Put the new front sight in the freezer or in dry ice and heat the slide prior to installing the new one.

I have various iterations of Leatherman tools. The one I currently carry is a "Blast" (I think)... basically the smallest one they made with scissors. My wife had a small Gerber that I really liked but someone stole from her car and they don't make it anymore. They're pretty handy. edit... my EDC tool is a "blast".
