We do this as well with my wife's extended family. It's a great way to make sure everyone gets a little something ($25 limit) without having to empty the bank account. Family time is the most important part. +1. I've basically given up telling people what I want. Most complain that my wants are boring, so I just ask for gift cards.

I wouldn't mess with the bluing either. Sometimes, trying to redo small spots makes it look worse. I'd rather have a few spots where the bluing is rubbed off than have several different colors of bluing. As stated, it gives it a little character. As long as it's not openly rusting, it's fine.

I can see the value in practicing in the dark, but the above seems a little disturbing. You have to blindly fire a shot to see? What ever happened to knowing your target and what's beyond? I understand that it's just an exercise, but it seems to be practicing a "no no". Would practicing point shooting not accomplish the same thing?

A bull barrel on a 10/22? What does that accomplish other than just making it heavier? Does she specifically want a pink gun, or is that your idea? My wife hates pink. Has she been shooting with you before? If not, you need to take her with you, let her shoot various guns and let her decide what she wants. Personally, I'd think a 20ga or .410 would be a good 1st choice. Plenty of instant gratification with exploding targets to keep her interested.

The UT game time traffic will not affect your trip, unless you intend take the long way through downtown knoxville. I've found that during the game is a good time to run errands. There will be more people on the interstate heading in/out, but you should exit before it gets ugly. Hwy 321 is a reasonable route. Expect some rush hour slow downs in Lenoir City, Maryville, and Pigeon Forge. Otherwise, it's fine. I'm happy with my ST, though I've never tried a high-end leather holster. Retention is adjustable by heating and gently molding the kydex. The retention on mine seemed a little light when I got it, but I did various running/jumping/tumbling activities and the gun stayed put, so I guess it's ok. And yes, a proper gun belt plus 2" larger waist pants will help tremendously with comfort.

The inexpensive 3-5 power Bushnell or Simmons scopes at Dick's or even Wal-mart will work fine. My 552 Speedmaster has a cheapo 3x Simmons and it works fine out to 100 yds.

My Yugo has lots of creep, but given how prone they are to slamfire, I've not messed with it. I've read that this guy does excellent SKS trigger work. I've considered having him work on mine, but just haven't pulled the trigger. SKS triggers, improve the safety of the SKS carbines

I've no idea how that gun comes apart so I don't really know how difficult it may be to change it.... I'm sure youtube can provide instructions. Assuming you can remove the existing spring, you can try a couple of things: 1) Stretch it a bit. It won't take much to increase the stiffness. 2) Cut a coil or two out of it. This will both shorten it and increase stiffness. This may or may not work well, depending on a few things. 3) Measure the existing spring and do some googling to try to find a similar one with higher stiffness. I doubt Ruger will be of much help. I wouldn't expect them to stock different mag release springs. I'd guess that the mag release is plastic and likely not real thick. I'd definitely try to remove it and confirm the thickness before filing on it.... lest you file all the way through it. edit... Perhaps you can make an adjustment to your grip and fix the problem, perhaps not. Sometimes its easier to make the tool fit the hand than make the hand fit the tool.

This. We adopted an abused puppy from the shelter. She's nearly 10 now and years of work have gotten her reasonably social. She's still very sensitive around people she doesn't know and it takes her a long time to accept anyone new. I don't really fear for her hurting anyone, she generally barks ferociously while running the other way. Dogs are very much creatures of habit and routine. Change their routine and they'll be haywire for a while. Our former neighbors inherited a hunting dog when the parent passed away. The dog cried nearly constantly for a month, it was quite pitiful (and annoying). They ended up giving it to a friend who had other hunting dogs and lived on a farm. It was much happier there.

Pretty much what they said.... I like animals (they're tasty! ) and so does my wife. I think it's just a matter of distinguishing between pets and food, some people have trouble separating the two. I'd bet most of those people didn't grow up on or around a farm. I also have some difficulty with trophy hunting. Watch a couple episodes of "Spirit of the Wild", it might give you a bit of perspective.

Can you file down the mag release button so it's less likely to be bumped accidentally? Or put in a stiffer spring so it's harder to push?

The Ruger SR9c is wider than the Kahr, but similar to the PPS.

I've had very good experience with the Cabela's brand coats. Very warm, very durable, reasonably priced.

I use 200gr Hornady TAP, but they're getting hard to find. Most any modern JHP will be fine, just verify function before you trust your life to it.

The double strike trigger is based on how the vast majority of people react to a FTF.... they pull the trigger again. Most people don't practice tap/rack/bang enough to make it instinct (likely me included). The instinct, particularly under stress, is to simply pull the trigger again. I like trigger on my PT145. Sure, it's no Les Baer custom 1911, but I don't expect it to be either.

Ah. I'd be a tad frightened that the original installer couldn't tell the difference between a heat pump and a gas furnace. Thermostats are easy to install. The wires are color-coded... yellow wire here, blue wire there, etc. Not to mention that he should have verified heat and AC functionality before he left. Anyway, glad its working properly now.

Glad you got it fixed but if the above it true, you should invest in some insulation and look for air leaks. The house shouldn't cool off that fast. Definitely not to within 1 deg of the outside temp over-night. Insulation Fact Sheet

If you're just perforating paper, why not choose something that's easier on the wallet and the shoulder? .17HMR, .223, .243, etc.

Get one of these, put a little salt in a cup of warm water, and go to town. Works great for clearing out the sinuses. oh, and say no to crack.
