No. :-\ Today is day 6 of their 7-10 days before it ships. I'm trying to be patient. I'm compiling a list of stuff that will live in it because I'm nerdy like that. That sounds like a good thread extension... Here's my list (a work in progress): Small flashlight (single AAA or keychain type LED light. maybe a 3 AAA light) bug spray sunscreen small first aid kit (bandaids and such for minor booboos, tylenol, benadryl, cortizone, etc. ) keychain thermometer/compass thingy pen and note pad A couple diapers small container of wipes disposable changing pads hand sanitizer $20 ... obviously the gun, camera, phone, keys, and those sorts of things will be in there too, but they'll come and go as needed. What's in your bag?

Score! Now if I can ever get this darn FAL put together...

I know a few folks who would suggest you avoid Alcoa like the plague, but YMMV. I used to live near Kingsport and still know a few people in the area. Have you looked into contract type work? I recall a contracting company called Day & Zimmerman that did lots of industrial type work in that area. I assume you've applied with Eastman? I know of one Clemson alumni working there currently. Conversation a few months ago with some former coworkers indicated a couple manufacturing engineering jobs available at TRW in Rogersville. I'd suggest you avoid the auto industry like the plague too, but beggars can't be choosers. Beyond that, look into Watts Bar. Bechtel is the primary contractor and it seems like they're always looking for people. Even further out... During my most recent job search, I found a fair number of jobs available around Nashville, Charlotte, and Huntsville. Incidentally... Both my parents and a host of other relations all went to Clemson. Go Tigers!

Oh the possibilities.... Bronker - I've also got a "gearslinger" type bag and have used it hiking. It's handy and reasonably comfortable as long as you don't put anything very heavy in it. They're excellent for stuff that's lightweight and bulky, but when the load goes up (>20lbs) the one I have gets uncomfortable and unstable real quick. I much prefer a regular backpack. If the extent of your hiking is from the door to the car, it'll work fine.

I'm sure you've all seen how Google occasionally changes their logo. Apparently they have contests where people submit their designs... Google Doodle. My cousin is into graphic design and submitted her artwork. It has made it all the way to the National Finals. Her design (below) is in the Grade 10-12 group, Region 5. Please vote if you're so inclined. Doodle 4 Google

Who elses property taxes/appraisal went up?
peejman replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
The government tax man's continued employment depends on tax revenue. It's a self-serving job in that regard. A private appraiser gets paid a flat fee regardless. Determine how much your taxes went up and how much you're willing to spend to fight it. Gather the appropriate data (recent sales of similar, nearby homes, a bank appraisal, etc.) and go plead your case. Be polite but persuasive. Ask them to show you the data they used when they appraised it. Go through it point-by-point and illustrate their errors. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. -
Some people have very acidic skin oils or sweat. A machinist I work with is that way... he has to wear gloves all the time because his fingerprints will rust a bare metal surface in 24 hrs. The acid can soak into the pores in the metal so a surface cleaning won't necessarily remove them, hence it'll continue to rust. You could try to bake the part for a while. The very nature of a belly band holster makes it the wearer prone to sweat more as well. You might try some sort of vapor barrier (Goretex?) between her and the gun.

The ups are that they're cool in a Miami Vice sort of way. The downs are that they're expensive and you can shoot yourself or someone else while drawing/holstering if you're not careful.

So it's more modern than I thought. That's a little disappointing as I find old stuff like that really neat. Anyway... What does the gauge read? Verify if it's still connected to the house before you crack loose a fitting. Once you get one loose, you may not be able to tighten it back. Turn the water on in a couple places in the house and check to see if water is flowing through those lines. If possible, you can simply follow the plumbing to see where it goes. If it is still plumbed into the house, it's really not hurting anything as long as the pipes are still in good shape. I think it would be a fairly simple re-plumbing project to remove it if you so desire.

I notice the pressure gauge on the tank does NOT read zero. Is the tank still holding pressure or is the gauge broken? There's a logo on the tank, if you can read it, google it. You might also find a manufacturer's data plate with some info that might be interesting to google.

+1 Looks like a steam powered pump of some sort. Might be worth some $$ for the right buyer. Neat to see stuff like this restored to working order. The antique tractor crowd might know more.

Love me a good airshow. Haven't been to one in years. Bring a chair, good hat, sunscreen, drinks, snacks, comfy shoes, camera. May also consider an umbrella for portable shade, big blanket to lay on, earplugs for the kiddies, ...

I wondered about that. OP lists eleventygillion things for sale, there's no way they've got all that stuff "in stock". We'll see what happens. Tempting, but I have one of those "pee in a cup" jobs. Besides, bongs work much better. A coworker's grand-daughter makes para-cord bracelets and such. I've commissioned some zipper pulls.

Amazon itself doesn't have the "dark earth" color, it's sold through Optics Planet with a listed delivery of 3-5 weeks. So I figured I'd eliminate the middle man and order direct from Optics Planet who claimed to have it in stock with 5 day delivery. I'd hoped to have it for this weekend.... oh well. The best things come to those who wait, and patience is a virtue and all that.... I guess I can live without my man bag for a little while longer. I'm now looking for some nifty para-cord zipper pulls.

Cool. Since the double mag pouch was cheap, I decided to go ahead and order it. If space is a little tight, I can cut it in half and make two single mag pouches. I ordered it from Optics Planet. I got a mildly annoying "verify your credit card" email that required 2 phone calls to complete. Then I got a more than mildly annoying "your stuff just went out of stock" email. So what, the person right before me got the last one? 7-10 days before it ships.

One more question about the UTG bag... Is there room in the carry pocket for a spare mag pouch in addition to the gun itself (typical 3.5" compact auto)? Wondering if I should get a mag pouch with it.
