  1. So I pull up to a traffic light on my way to work this morning. It's the type with sensors in the road to trigger the light. This particular light has 3 sensors. Moron #1 is the first car. He's sitting half way into the intersection, nearly a car length beyond the sensors. Moron #2 is the second car. She's sitting a good 100 ft behind him, not yet covering the sensors. She's also got her right turn signal on. I'm behind her. The light changes for the opposing traffic, but ours stays red. I can see moron #1 waving his arms around and beating on the steering wheel. When the cross traffic starts going again, he backs up onto the sensor. I honked gently at moron #2 in an attempt to get her to move up to trip the sensor. She didn't move an inch and gave me the finger. So the light cycles again and the opposing turn lane gets a green arrow. As soon as they start to move, moron #1 rolls forward into the intersection uncovering the sensor. Guess what? No green light again. When the opposing traffic clears, he runs the red light. Moron #2 honks at him and waves her arms around, but doesn't move an inch. Mind you, by her still flashing turn signal she apparently wants to turn right and is still at least 100 ft from the intersection. While waiting through yet another cycle, I honk gently again and get the finger for my efforts, again. And she still hasn't moved an inch. By this time there's 6-8 cars behind me. I can see those folks clearly sharing my frustration. So I went around her and pulled up to the line. She honked, gave me the finger yet again, and I can hear her cussing now. I smile and wave politely. Like magic, within a minute or two we get a green light. As I pulled away I could see moron #2 still cussing me. Maybe ignorance isn't bliss after all.
  2. I have nothing of value to add, not even any mindless drivel. But it seems that's the whole point of this masterpiece of a thread.
  3. *sigh* Yet again, only a politician could come up with something so stupid.
  4. Can't wait to see what some creative and talented folks are able to make it do. I hope Google saves and posts the best ones. edit... some cool recording features here: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/technologylive/post/2011/06/google-doodle-les-paul/1

  6. Unrelated... sure it is.
  7. Awesome!
  8. In reference to 1gewehr's post (which is most excellent)... I was at an indoor range with several friends a while back. One friend was shooting my pistol and another friend was in an adjacent lane. I noticed that my pistol was tossing brass in a beautiful arc, up and over the divider and down onto the other friend's head (wearing a hat). The recipient could feel the brass hitting his head because he kept stopping and looking around. Only when he turned around and saw us laughing did he figure out what was going on. Completely unintentional, but funny.
  9. I have these.... Allen Low-Profile Folding Shooting Muffs, Shooting Supplies, Allen at Sportsman's Guide Sometimes they'll bump the rifle stock and I have to push the up a little, but it's never been a significant problem.
  10. While the fancy electronic earmuffs are the shiznit, I use standard foam earplugs with basic earmuffs on top. No problem having a conversation with someone nearby.
  11. The title of this thread is all wrong... low necklines are quite good! You might notice most people at the range are wearing a hat. Now you know why. Put one in your range bag.
  12. Why not avoid the (perceived) complication and just get him/her a gift certificate? The universal gift card with a few brochures thrown in should get the point across.
  13. "More punch" is highly over-rated. Carry what you can shoot most effectively. A miss with a .22 has the same effect on your target as a miss with a 20mm.
  14. I went to the local DMV first thing on a weekday morning. I waited about 10 minutes and it took another 10 to complete. I think it took that long because the girl processing HCP's was new (I was her first ).
  15. Grit in the action? If you don't want to take it apart, hose it down with CLP and blast it with compressed air.
  16. I've never had any work done locally, but I've also heard good things about Predator and CCA.
  17. mmmmm..... FAL carbine goodness. Build it or buy it?
  18. "Take the gun, go see what it is." "Wait! Leave the gun, he might get past you..."
  19. My experience with LLBean stuff has all been good, it's very high quality and lifetime warranty. My wife used the same LLBean backpack all through high school and college and it's still in decent shape. I'm on my 3rd fleece coat... broken zipper after 5 years then frayed stitching 6 or so years. They replaced the coat free of charge both times, no questions asked.
  20. I've always thought they were dumb. The biggest turn-off for me (other than all the legal nonsense) is the "ripped from the headlines" episodes. Or as I call them... "our writers suck so bad, they can't come up with an original story on their own" episodes.
  21. This bit of information might help explain both Jose and his wife's reaction... From here: Jose Guerena Killed: Arizona Cops Shoot Former Marine In Botched Pot Raid
  22. Interesting. Quite affordable too. hmmm....
  23. As stated, the issue is primarily the high power green lasers. The likelihood of hitting a pilot directly in the face is quite low. However, the laser beam can hit the multi-pane glass and refract and "dazzle" the cockpit (think disco ball). The cockpit windows can act as a beam splitter. I doubt you'd appreciate it if the pilot was trying to blink the spots away and trying to recover his night vision on final approach at 500ft and 150mph with your family on board.
