  1. It takes more than just an upper... http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/long-guns/59443-ar-7-62x39-russian-round.html
  2. I dispatched many, many squirrels with CB shorts growing up. They make little more noise than a high-powered air rifle.
  3. 15 acres. I believe 0.5 acre is ineligible if a dwelling is on the property. My parents have 12.5 acres and have been trying for years to buy a small piece of neighboring property to push theirs up to 15.5 so they'd qualify. 4. It actually wasn't gut shot, just the heart/lung area was badly mangled. I assume the bullet bounced around off the ribs a couple times.
  5. Welcome! TTU grad here.
  6. As I recall (its been many years ago)... it looked like the chest cavity innards had been in a blender. And it took several hours to find.
  7. Who was it that posted the thread about his feet on the desk being disrespectful?
  8. 3 weeks later you guys are still arguing about this? Good grief.
  9. Wow. I've no idea how my son would react to that. I guess you'd just have to make them think it's fun. Personally, I've only helped dress 2 deer. I made it through the first one without gagging, but the smell was over-powering on the 2nd one and I had to "get some air" for a few minutes. Smaller stuff has never been a problem.
  10. As a father myself, there's no way I'd be able to display Mr. Thomas's composure.
  11. Perhaps someone already suggested it and I just missed it somewhere .... however, I'm surprised no one has suggested simply getting the MAC and partitioning the hard drive. Run the MAC OS on one partition and Windows on the other. That's the trick I've heard from several people. Perhaps that's changed... Oh, and CAD/CAM work on a MAC?
  12. Good stuff. My 3 yr old is getting to that point as well. Though he'd much rather watch Veggie Tales than Shooting USA.
  13. I have an old, beat up P85 with eleventy gillion rounds down the barrel that shoots better groups than I can. The CZ RAMI comes in both a polymer frame and steel frame version. A friend has the steel frame RAMI and likes it.
  14. Welcome! Have a look at the Ruger P-series. They're inexpensive, very reliable, quite accurate, and meet all your criteria. I believe there's a nice Beretta 92 for sale here now. The CZ75 series are good as well. Coal Creek Armory has a long list of rentals available.
  15. I think asking them if they have sex toys in their house is the best response.
  16. Yes, the law states that you cannot deny anyone access to their property. However, sorting out who owns what, where easements lie, and who controls them can be sticky.
  17. Welcome! I used to live in Church Hill, nice place.
  18. If you have a lien on the bike, they'll require full coverage. Otherwise, it's up to you. Full coverage typically isn't a lot more $$. Regarding your height and bikes... don't assume the 1100 is bigger than the 800. That's like saying the V8 Mustang has more leg room than the V6. Personally, I'd steer you more toward a "standard" bike than a cruiser. The extra visibility that comes from sitting up higher, both to see and be seen, is quite valuable in traffic/commuter conditions.
  19. It's far more common up north. It works great right up until you have any sort of problem underneath it. Then it's a total PITA. Curious why you're removing mat insulation and want to replace with spray foam?
  20. Believe the mass media or the government.... ? Now that's a tough one.
  21. Welcome!
  22. There's so many choices it's hard to know where to start. Bikes tend to be fairly narrowly focused, and as a result somewhat idiosyncratic. It's those little idiosyncrasies that make people love, or hate, a particular bike. That said, what do you intend to do with said bike? Commute? Day trips into the mountains? Disappear for a weekend? Ride to Alaska? RTW? First of all, have you ridden before? If not, get some training. This is the best and cheapest way to get started that I know of... Motorcycle Safety Foundation Second, does your $3k budget include and allowance for appropriate gear? [safety nazi] Prepare yourself for spending several hundred $$ on protective gear [/safety nazi]. I can't claim to be ATGATT, but I do wear most of it most of the time. When I commute to work, I wear .... boots $200 + helmet $300 + jacket $200 + gloves $50. I also have a leather suit, another jacket, separate pants, cold weather gloves, neck warmer, ... Think that stuff is expensive? See what skin grafts cost. Third, get insurance quotes. Premiums might influence your decision (or shock you beyond reason). You need to figure out what suits you best. That may involve buying and selling a time or two. My best advice is to start with something small, light, and docile and ride it for at least a season. The newer Harley's are far more reliable than those of 15 years ago (and that's coming from a CBR owner...). For me, the HD's just vibrate too much. That said, the Sportster is the only Harley I'd consider. I'm generally not a big fan of most "cruiser" type bikes mainly due to lack of ground clearance. Here's a list of bikes you might consider... Honda Nighthawk 750 599 (aka Hornet) VFR 750/800 Shadow 750 VF750 Magna Yamaha XJ650/750 Maxim FZ6 Suzuki SV650 DL650 V-strom (wee-strom) Bandit 600 GSX650 (new Bandit) GS500 Kawasaki ZR7 Z750 Ninja 650R Versys Triumph Street Triple Speed 4 Ducati Monster 620 BMW F650S F800GS
  23. Takes a long time for those electrons to get from TN to Canada and back...
