Reliance Aqua-Tainer - 7 gal. at REI.com $17 OS reminded me that I forgot to mention filling up your tub(s). While the Water Bob says it'll hold 100 gallons, most normal tubs only hold about 50. With 2 tubs, the water heater, and the rain barrel, I've got relatively quick access to 200 gallons of water without actually storing anything. Dad gets this magazine and I get them when he's done. I think subsonic is the big thing. It's the crack of the sonic boom that gets people's attention. They're relatively cheap so get a box of each and try them out. The CB's handled squirrels out to about 30 yds and were accurate out to 50, if I recall. Doing the energy math... a 29gr bullet at 700ft/s has about 23% more energy than an 8gr pellet at 1200ft/s. Then there's suppressors...

I agree, 1 gallon/person/day is typical. If you intend to bug in, remember that your water heater holds 40+ gallons. Get a rain barrel or two. I have one 50 gallon barrel and while it might not be potable as-is, it's easy enough to boil/treat it. It's also relatively easy to make things like a solar still to generate relatively clean water. If the aforementioned room in your house doesn't have a concrete floor, be sure you consider the weight. Water is HEAVY. Typical wood framed residential construction is rated at 40 lbs/sqft.

I stand corrected. Personally, I'd prefer they not change the signs as they keep the sheep happy.

Funny you should mention church... I was in a friend's wedding a couple years ago. A couple people posing as a cleaning crew entered the church during the ceremony and stole the bridal party's money, CC's, and ID. It was fun sitting at the reception filling out paperwork with the cops. Very fortunate the bride's passport wasn't taken, as she was on a plane to Jamaica the following morning.

A little scotch-brite will clean that right up.

Co-op (internship) job experience is critical, consider it NFO (not flippin' optional). Sure, it'll take you (at least) an extra year to graduate, but if it makes the difference between getting a job and moving back home... it's worth it. If you want to go to graduate school, get a teaching or research assistant position. No tuition fees and I got paid $700/mo to go to grad school. The MS degree netted me about $10k/yr in salary at my first job and I believe it's helped me in subsequent job searches (just getting a job, not with $). The days of employers paying for graduate school are mostly gone. It effectively takes an act of congress to get through all the paperwork that's typically required. They make it very difficult on purpose.

I believe part of the parks bill (and one of the main reasons it passed) was that existing signage did not have to be changed. The expense of having to change the signs would have killed the bill, same as national park carry. Thought it's been over 2 years ago so my memory is a little fuzzy. As usual, the burden of knowing where we can and cannot carry, regardless of signage, is completely with the HCP holder.

Subsonic .22 shorts make a little more noise than a BB gun. I grew up in a subdivision and dispatched many a squirrel with .22 CB's. As for the rifle, can't go wrong with a Henry.

I have Dish and have been reasonably happy with it. I think it costs way too much, but they all do. In fact, I think I've got a $50 off card at the house. If you sign up, we both get $50 off.

One might argue that he had the perfect opportunity to discuss his issues with the man in charge, but chickened out. But I seriously doubt there would have been any meaningful discussion. The handlers would never allow that to happen, especially with the media following the team around.

I agree and didn't mean to suggest that I don't discipline my kids... I do. I've found that the 4yr old responds better to "that hippie stuff" than me immediately getting pissed. I try to be more positive and more encouraging than my Dad was. My sister and I even joke about how Dad's standard answer to any report card (we both made A's and B's) was... "there's room for improvement". After a while, the frustration of "nothing is ever good enough" begins to set in. Failure isn't good, but better to have tried (really, really hard) and failed, than never to have tried at all.

I'll put it on the calendar and hope the weather cooperates.

Disciplining kids is a very fine line to walk. I have 2 boys, 4 and 1. The 4 yr old has always been quite a handful. If he's awake, he's in motion. Fairly recently (honestly, after watching one of those Nanny 911 shows) I've noticed that my attitude is reflected in him. When I've had a crappy day and my patience is worn thin, he's more difficult to deal with. If I'm relaxed and polite, so is he (most of the time). I try to keep that in mind, but it doesn't always work. My Dad was a fairly stern disciplinarian. In that sense, Dad was more an authority figure than a friend. I've got friends that have much more "friend-like" relationships with their fathers than I do and I envy that somewhat, so I'm trying very hard to have that with my boys. Which is a long way of saying, that hippie stuff really does work on some kids. But sometimes not.

I have similar problem. Best I can tell, the pants are too tight (or not stretchy enough) for IWB. My belt digs in opposite the gun and creates as sore spot on that hip. I find myself pocket carrying my 380 more often because of it. To the OP.... try yoga. Manly men may poke fun, but it's fantastic for building core strength and increasing flexibility. My wife bought some DVD's that we use at home. One of our new year's resolutions was to get back to exercising more often. We've done the 30 min program 3-5x per week for a couple weeks and I can tell a significant difference in how I feel. Most fitness places offer classes. Sometimes the scenery is nice too.

Whipping your kids or not has nothing to do with it, I got whipped plenty of times. I did the "ding, dong, ditch" among other things. Anyone else do the flaming bag of dog poo? While I'd be pissed if some kids did it to me, as stated, kids will be kids and that lady is stupid. Hope that "former assistant DA" enjoys the a little jail time.
