In. The "View New Content" button on the top right, just under the banner does the same thing. I miss being able to hover the cursor over a thread title and have it show the first few lines. I find it to be a very quick and easy filter. -
I find it hard to believe that no one has mentioned Skynrd before now. I love you guys. I can't stand Skynrd. More accurately, I can't stand the same 6-8 songs that are constantly on the radio here. That said, love me some Metallica! However, without Zep there'd be no Metallica, so Zep gets my vote.

Excellent suggestion. Just be sure the stuff in the bucket and the bucket itself won't be harmed by the -100 deg temp. Also do this where it's very dry, condensation is the enemy. Be sure the buckets are very, very clean and completely dry before you use them. You might also consider using one or two as tests before you put all your stuff in there and find it rotten in a couple months.

I just learned something. I have a 59/66A1... mine has the flip up white dot sights, though I'd hardly classify them as "fluorescent". I assumed they all had that. I believe it has a non-ported grenade launcher, but I'll have to check to verify. The comment about rifles that appear to have never been cleaned and working fine.... mine would be one of those. I wipe the easily reached crud out of it, and that's about it.

Asheville and surrounding areas are nice if you can afford it. As stated, the atmosphere is rather ... eclectic. It's beautiful and there's lots to do if you're the outdoorsy type. Beyond that, NC has both a state income tax and personal property tax. TN has neither. I was offered a job near Asheville (Fletcher) but didn't take it due to the cost of living. The areas surrounding Knoxville are nice, Knoxville proper... not so much. ORSA has lots to offer.

One thing I learned from this thread (http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/survival-preparedness/66734-free-survival-manual.html) is variety. Particularly with kids, eating the same thing over and over will get old real fast.

As stated, the SKS is generally best in it's original configuration. Leave the tacti-cool stuff for your AR. Numbers matching Russian variants bring the highest prices. Yugos look the coolest. AK magazine conversions... some work, and some don't. Only one way to find out. Unless you happen across an SKS-M. The triggers are single stage and typically have lots of creep for an extra margin of safety. Cock it, and bang the butt stock on the ground a few times. If the hammer falls, that's bad. Fixable, but bad. Check the bolt for obvious wear and make sure the firing pin moves freely (it floats, not spring loaded). If the firing pin is sticky, a slam-fire condition can result. Again, bad but fixable. Check the bore and chamber for corrosion. Some are chrome lined, some not. Corrosive surplus ammo is going away, but still out there. And one last thing... especially watch out for people who call it a "baby AK". SKS - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Saw Godsmack when they were on tour with Metallica a few years ago. Excellent show!

When I was a kid, breakfast through the week was most always cold cereal of some sort. On particularly cold winter mornings, mom would fix oatmeal. On the weekends she'd fix a big breakfast... pancakes, waffles, or biscuits, eggs, bacon... I do the same thing for my boys now. A couple favorite memories... a fried egg on toast. Quick, simple, yummy. Mom's home-made blueberry sauce. We had several blueberry bushes and every now and then she'd put blueberries in the pancake/waffle batter and then pour some blueberry sauce over them. mmmmmm...

You guys have got to stop posting in this thread. Seriously. Oh. My. Though it does have one major fail.... bake the hamburger?!? Who bakes hamburgers? -
Not sure that I'd use plastic drop cloths. They're neither "food grade" nor particularly clean. Most that I've used seem to have a powdery substance on them, presumably to help prevent the layers from sticking.

I'm not aware that there is a "latest". AFAIK, the Blount County contingent never addressed the issue so it died on the vine.

I'm gonna revive this.... I've decided on the Tech Sights for my SKS. But I'm still on the fence as to which rear sight. The adjustable one sounds nice, but I lean toward the "set-it-and-forget-it" mode of operations, which makes me think the simplicity of the dual aperture version would suit me better. It's also not likely I'll be shooting it much past 200 yds. Seems like the likelihood of running out of front sight adjustment to get a 100 yd zero is rather low. Thoughts?

You can pay for everything but produce at the sporting goods counter. A tad inconvenient if you've got a full buggy, but possible. If I'm getting a few things, I try to make it the last stop and just pay for everything there. The line is usually a lot shorter too. It does, on occasion, require a little looking around to find the clerk. There's an older gent at the 411 store who I've found easy to deal with.

Exactly. How do you think the sheep would feel if there were squads of fully kitted soldiers with K9's patrolling the halls. People whine when the TSA singles them out for a "random" search. Think they'd make the same complaints if the guy doing the searching and 4 of his friends had machine guns? Careful what you wish for.

Good stuff. Does the MFI clamp transfer significant heat to the AFG? Seems like with heavy work, the AFG might get a tad warm.

I can't find them at Dicks online, so maybe they don't have them anymore. It's been a year or two. This is similar to what I got, though I don't recall them being Remington brand. Nor do I recall them costing $6 ea. But maybe they did... I've slept since then. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0010XDLNE/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0014VQ1X4&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1VQM0P22NM6D77CHYMK3 I have this electronic safe, it serves it's purpose well. http://www.amazon.com/Stack-PS-514-Personal-Safe-Electronic/dp/B000LG6KCA/ref=pd_cp_hi_0 Though in hind-sight, I'd get a bigger one.

As usual, expectations are a tad high for the kid making $7.50/hr behind the counter. And I too have heard far more stupid things in real guns stores.
