Whole house humidifiers that are a part of your central HVAC system are readily available... Humidifiers - Trane Humidifier | TRANE
-
Print it out and take it with you. "We can't do that." "Sure you can. Here's the regulations that say so."
-
Sarco is a good company. Sometimes you have to call to make sure you're getting what you want, but otherwise, they're fine.

Forget the decongestant nasal sprays, they won't help. They might make it worse. Saline spray might help. Buy a humidifier. I have 2 of the ultrasonic (cool mist) versions in my kids rooms. I have a much larger capacity steam version in our room. The steam version has a humidity sensor and turns itself on/off as needed. I set it to 55% relative humidity and when it's cold out and the heat is running a lot, it'll run nearly non-stop and dump 6-8 gallons of water into the air in 24 hrs. If I was smart, I'd rig up some sort of auto-fill mechanism using a toilet valve. The cool mist ones won't touch that output, they only run at night. You will have to take them apart and clean them periodically. The steam one gunks up with crusty scale, the ultrasonic ones get mold/algae funk in them. I also have one of those Oregon Scientific weather stations. It correlates reasonably with the humidifier setting. When humidity in the house drops below 40%, my nose starts to close up. edit... if possible, when you sleep try to retain the moisture in your breath. I pull the sheet up around my face a little to help keep a pocket of moist air.

Those poor, poor lever guns. What did they ever do to deserve that?
-
If anyone wants black walnut seedlings, come to my house in the spring. One of my neighbors has a big tree and the critters just love to plant the acorns. I typically pull hundreds of them out of my flowerbeds. I love the idea of 20-30 acres to play on, but I'd cut the bare minimum necessary to build what you want. Seems like there's a shortage of "mature" forest around here. Hard to find a stand of trees more than 24" in diameter.

Did one of these last year, would like to do it again. Excellent and cheap way to play with a Garand. And if you break it, they bring you another one!

Thanks for the explanation. I was curious as to whether the OP used optics or not so I can determine how impressed I am. btw... didn't they recently change the "service rifle" category to allow A4 configuration?

I've got 4 or 5 Leathermans. I've been carrying a Wave for many years and it's held up well. Good to know their service is top notch.

NYC gun charges dropped. Now I can Speak
peejman replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree. In the OP, the guy intentionally brought his guns with him. That was dumb. If something happens beyond your control and you end up there, that's something else entirely. If that happened to me, I'd certainly be talking to someone with TSA, the airline, and likely the local cops. Seems like attempting to explain the situation up front might help your cause. But maybe not. I do agree there's a hole in the law that can bite and otherwise law abiding citizen in the arse. The only real way to fix it is (unfortunately) litigation. -
Me thinks someone is compensating for something...

Any guess as to how deep the pitting is? Can you take a close-up pic of it? If you push a fine point pen over the pits, can you feel them? Can you view the pits under a magnifying glass? If so, are they jagged or smooth in appearance? I'd guess the Cerakote process would effectively hide what I'd consider "minor" pitting. The blasting should smooth them out and the paint will fill them in, to an extent. If functional is all you're after, Cerakote is a good choice. I'd also assume that their price includes all the typically exposed parts, though I'd call to verify. Sometimes you can reduce the cost by disassembling it yourself.

Exactly what part of "Do NOT take your gun to NYC" is confusing? Read this... Supreme Court refuses to hear appeal of traveler who wants to sue Port Authority following arrest in N.J. on gun charges | NJ.com -
The regulations here are WAY more complicated than they should be. Any centerfire cartridge, pistol or rifle is legal in rifle season. There's archery and muzzleloader only periods, no shotguns at all. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - For Hunters I also know good Knoxville area and Rogersville area realtor. If you decide you like those areas, I'll send you info. As a buyer, I don't see any reason not to use a realtor. You're generally not the one paying them, the seller is. Given that you're moving to a very unfamiliar area, I think renting for a while is a good idea. We enjoy relatively low utility rates in this area thanks to TVA. Any house that's "in the country" will most likely be on septic, and depending on how far out you are, well water too. When I was selling my house near Kingsport, I had to provide average utility costs as part of the advertising package.

Looks nice, but google finds a number of mixed reviews. Seems like a polished WASR.

Sounds like you've narrowed it down. Bad fuel, gunked up injectors, cam lobes worn off, ... I'm sure there's a civic forum out there with resident experts to help. As for checking the fuel pressure... sure you can. Typically there's a schrader valve somewhere on the fuel rail. The auto parts store will have a gauge for it (they may let you borrow it). Seems like a bad TPS or CPS (or any other sensor) would throw a code and turn the light on.

Personally, I would never use someone else's reloads. $0.20/rd compared to $0.50/rd sounds like a great savings until you blow up a $500+ gun with no recourse. If you plan to shoot a lot, do your own reloading or buy in bulk.

Background check vs. gun registration
peejman replied to littlerivermike's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
To my knowledge, the background check doesn't include the s/n of the firearm. Only the FFL has that information, and they're not required to retain it for an extended period of time. -
Buying a box, wal-mart. Buying a case... lots of online places.
-
Beat me to it! First thing that came to mind when I read the thread title.
-
Just depends on how bad you want to reload it. Most of the surplus (spam can) stuff has a corrosive berdan primer. While berdan primers can be removed, it ain't the easiest thing to do. WOULD ANYONE BE INTERESTED IN A GET TOGETHER IN BLOUNT COUNTY?
peejman replied to a topic in Events and Gatherings
Interested. A weekend afternoon is typically best. It'll be a crap shoot with the weather this time of year. You can't be sure what it'll be like tomorrow, much less a month from now. I'd prefer it NOT be the last weekend in Feb. That's my young'uns b'day (26th). -
There is effectively no difference between 0W20 and 5W30 in our climate. That said, I wouldn't go any higher than 5W30 in it. The synthetic oil is pricey, but when you consider the typical 10k mile change interval, it's not so bad. Having just looked... Advance Auto has a store brand full synthetic 5W20 for $4.79/qt. If, by chance, you're not familiar with what 5W30 or 0W20 really means, read this... HowStuffWorks "What does the weight mean on a can of motor oil?"

The waiting can be very frustrating... been there, done that. It's a fine line to walk between being a pest (or appearing desperate) and simply being professional when delays happen and repeated follow-ups are necessary. Hang in there. Having worked in the auto industry for 7 years, I'd consider it a last resort.
